Chapter 76 - Chapter 76: Kaitō Kid’s Code of Honor!

After the Eagle Nation's embassy took Itō Itsuki away, Harrison and the others stood silently in the vast estate, lost in thought.

This was Frank's first direct encounter with Kaitō Kid. He had camped outside the estate since the night before, not daring to lower his guard for even a second.

And yet, despite all their elaborate precautions, Kaitō Kid got what he came for—in under half an hour.

And it wasn't just any item. It was the priceless Sheep Head.

"Fuck!"

"Mr. Carlos, may I take a look at your vault?"

Frank still couldn't wrap his head around it. How had Kaitō Kid pulled it off under such tight security and constant patrols? He was desperate to find some kind of answer in the vault's setup.

Marina, knowing what was inside Carlos's vault, immediately ended the livestream.

[What? Why end the stream now?]

[I was really hoping to see something amazing. Such a shame!]

[Come on, people. Carlos is richer than entire nations. You think he's gonna let us peek inside his vault?]

[Kaitō Kid only took the Sheep Head, huh? Bet there's way more insane treasures in there!]

[Now that's what I call class—stealing only what he came for. If it were me, I'd have cleaned the place out!]

When Harrison and Frank saw the vault door, they both froze.

The security level of that door wasn't any less than a bank's, completely embedded into the wall.

"Mr. Carlos, the Sheep Head was inside this vault when it was stolen?"

Frank could hardly believe his ears.

Carlos, however, gave a firm nod.

"That's right."

"When I came in, the vault was still locked. I don't even know how he managed to open it."

"But the Sheep Head is gone. He took it."

Carlos himself was still struggling to believe it, but the evidence was undeniable.

He turned the combination lock, revealing two more locking mechanisms embedded into the steel.

As the vault door swung open, Frank was stunned once again.

Rows of neatly stacked, glimmering gold bars lined the center. Priceless paintings and rare artifacts adorned the surrounding walls.

Carlos pointed to an empty display case against the wall.

"The Sheep Head was displayed there."

Frank snapped his eyes away from the gold bars and hurried over.

"And he only took the Sheep Head?"

Before Carlos could answer, Harrison spoke up.

"Kaitō Kid always takes only what he says he'll take."

"He doesn't touch anything else."

Compared to Frank, Harrison had seen much more of Kaitō Kid's escapades—Fubons Auction, Ed Gold Vault, world-class treasures...

And still, Kaitō Kid had always stuck to the same code: take what's his target, leave everything else untouched.

So Harrison was absolutely certain. The gold and artifacts, while dazzling to most, meant nothing to Kaitō Kid.

Marina stepped over to the vault entrance, intrigued.

"Director Harrison, how do you think he even opened this vault?"

That question caught Harrison off guard.

He understood Kaitō Kid's style—but not his methods. This kind of vault had layer after layer of mechanical locks. Even expert thieves couldn't crack it.

"I once caught a master thief who managed to open a similar vault," Harrison said slowly. "But it took him over three hours."

"And he admitted it was mostly luck—he only cracked it right when he was about to give up."

At this point, Harrison really felt like he'd rather go home and raise pigs.

Every time he acted, Kaitō Kid shattered their expectations again.

Whatever shred of confidence they had left had been thoroughly trampled underfoot.

"Director Frank, Director Harrison, I expect you to apprehend Kaitō Kid as soon as possible—and retrieve my Sheep Head without fail!"

Carlos wouldn't have minded as much if it had been any other collectible. At most, he would've asked Frank to hurry up and catch the thief.

But now that the Sheep Head was stolen, he was truly furious. He demanded its return.

Harrison looked calm, almost indifferent. Frank, however, was in a far more difficult spot.

Harrison wasn't from the Eagle Nation. But Frank was FBI. Carlos was also a sitting councilman.

"Mr. Carlos, rest assured—we will catch Kaitō Kid as soon as possible!"

Harrison glanced at Frank with an expression that practically screamed disbelief.

Right now, he seriously wanted to ask Frank: Why the hell are you dragging me into your bravado?

Tonight's fiasco had made everything painfully clear. And yet Frank still had the nerve to say something like that?

Meanwhile, discussion online was in full swing over where the Sheep Head would end up.

[Shit! The Sheep Head's definitely going to end up back in the Dragon Nation!]

[No way! This is the Eagle Nation, not Britain. The FBI won't let that happen!]

[Excuse me? You seriously think Frank can catch Kaitō Kid?]

[Hah! That's rich. What, does the FBI grow an extra brain compared to MI5?]

[If they actually manage to catch Kaitō Kid, I'll chop my head off and let them use it as a soccer ball. I swear!]

Though people argued over whether the Sheep Head would return to the Dragon Nation, they were oddly unified on one thing: neither Frank nor Harrison had the chops to catch Kaitō Kid.

Only a handful of diehards refused to admit it.

[The FBI won't let him escape! The Eagle Nation will be the end of Kaitō Kid's crime spree!]

[Cooked duck flapping its wings. Keep dreaming. What're you gonna do, fight him with your keyboard?]

[Shit! If they could really catch him, Harrison wouldn't have had to chase him all the way here.]

[The Brits are watching you fumble the bag. Isn't that embarrassing?]

[Damn right. If it were me, I wouldn't take that insult lying down.]

Back at the hotel, Zhang Yang took a picture of the Sheep Head and uploaded a new post to reveal it.

"Oops—forgot to show you the fireworks."

He had left in such a rush that he'd completely forgotten to put on his signature show for Harrison.

After all, when Itō Itsuki got shot, that was the perfect moment to slip away.

If he had missed that window, escaping would've been a lot more complicated.

Now that the Eagle Nation was ready to shoot on sight, the risk was exponentially higher.

The new post immediately attracted a flood of attention.

[That's Kaitō Kid's second Zodiac Head! Is he planning to collect all twelve?!]

[If he really pulls that off, Kaitō Kid will go down in history—forever remembered!]

[Hahaha! Let's hope that's exactly what he's doing!]

[Shit! How does he even know where the missing ones are?]

[Those priceless artifacts are wasting away in some private collector's vault. What a tragedy!]

[Kaitō Kid is the most righteous thief of the 21st century, no question about it!]

The comment section was exploding with cheers, especially from netizens in the Dragon Nation.

At the very least, one more lost Zodiac Head had finally come to light again.
