Shadow's POV
I ran into the woods. When I was deep in the woods, I relaxed and stopped walking. I started walking instead and followed the sound of the river.
I was following the sound of the river when I got a sniff of a rogue. I just wanted a peaceful walk, is it so hard to have a peaceful walk?! I let out a low growl, not to threaten anyone but because I was frustrated and needed to be alone right now.
If I see or smell a rogue right now, I am going to pretend that they are not here and walk away.
I ignored the scent I got and walked towards the sound of the river, the sound so soothing and mesmerizing, I always loved sitting by the river and just doing nothing. It's peaceful and a perfect place to rest.
My parents don't know this, but when I am here, I let the rogues go if they are not in trouble or seem wrong. I want this place to remain as peaceful as it can.
I was walking to my spot when I got the same scent again, the scent of my mate. The sweet and addictive scent of hers- wait, if I can get her scent, means she can get my scent too.
"Is that the scent of our mate?!" Marcus asked in my head.
"Yes, it's her, but unlike last time, I am not losing her, not this time. I will take a glance at her for sure," I replied as I started running.
"Don't you dare lose her, Shadow! At least a glance, let us see her once," Marcus said, and I know he's just as desperate as I am. I can feel it in every part of me.
So, I ran, I ran as fast as I could in the direction of the scent. I am not losing her again, not again.
I have no idea where I am running to, I just know that it's towards my mate, and that's all that matters.
I was getting closer to the scent.
"We are getting closer to the scent!" I said to Marcus in my head, and I could feel his happiness.
"Yes! Just one glance! I just want to know if she's okay in the wild. If she really is an omega like you said, then I hope she's okay."
"Me too. I hope she's okay, too."
