After weeks of tension with Cloud and unresolved emotions about Astrid, Ellie on the other hand was exhausted. She had spent so much time caught in her feelings that she barely noticed how distant she had become from everything else. That changed when her grandmother invited her to visit for the weekend.
At first, Ellie thought it would be like any other visit—tea on the porch, stories about the past, gentle reminders to eat more. But when her grandmother brought up Kyla, she realized this visit had a purpose.
"You used to follow Kyla around everywhere," her grandmother said with a smile. "You were inseparable."
Ellie nodded, stirring her tea. "That was a long time ago."
"Not so long," her grandmother said. "Kyla still asks about you, you know."
Erica looked up. "She does?"
Her grandmother nodded. "She's grown into such a lovely young woman. And she cares about you, Ellie."
"I know it grandma,we talked a bit sometimes, besides we go to a same school"
Kyla had been a huge part of her childhood, but they had drifted over the years. Now, hearing that Kyla still thought about her left Ellie feeling… something. It wasn't the same rush she felt around Astrid, but it wasn't nothing either.
"You should spend some time with her," her grandmother suggested gently. "Maybe you'll remember what you used to love about each other."
Ellie didn't argue. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad. Maybe it would even be… easy.
And maybe, just maybe, easy was what she needed.
"Yess grandma as you wish for"
Ellie don't want any deeper connection into Astrid cause she already know what her grandma truly wants,and she also know that Kyla likes her for a long time but never confessed to her.
They both starting to talk more about each other and Ellie realised that it wasn't bad at all,she was comfortable when she's with Kyla.
Later that day Kyla took Ellie for a walk to clear up her mind.
At the park Kyla asked Ellie to come with her to ride on a Ferris wheel. At first Ellie was scared to go and refuses Kyla's offer.
"Hey are you scared of heights?" Kyla asked.
"No yess, but maybe just a bit."
"Don't worry I'll be by your side so no need for you to be scared."
Ellie felt a little calm. Inside her felt a bit warmer as Kyla holds her hands and gave her a lollipop saying that it will help her to calm.
"Here take it."
"What's that?"
"Lollipop"
"I know. What I meant was why are you giving me that? I'm not a kid."
"For me, you will always be a little kid. But this lollipop will help you to calm so you won't be scared when we ride on the ferris wheel."
Ellie glance at Kyla before she took the lollipop. At first she was acting like she was a phcyco but when she took the lollipop at Kyla's hands she turns like a 5 year old kid eating a lollipop.
Kyla giggles and took Erica to ride on the ferris wheel. In there when they reach the top, the sun started to go down.
"Oh hey look it was so beautiful." Ellie points at the sunset while licking her lollipop.
Kyla looks at her with her eyes sparkling and her face was starting to make a smile. "Yeah it was beautiful indeed." She said.
At that day they spent a lot of hours trying on different rides and all the times that Ellie was scared Kyla holds her hands and calm her, they even try look of snacks and play some arcade games.
And for a day Ellie's smile came back she didn't even notice that she was enjoying the moment that she was with Kyla and she was totally happy, a feeling that she never experienced with Astrid and mybe now she was really getting better. Better with Kyla by her side.
