Chapter 57 - Afternoon Outbreaks

It was already noon and Ellie was still in bed, wrapped in her blanket like a cocoon, lost in a dream that felt far too comforting to leave. The sunlight poured in through her window, spilling across her floor in golden streaks, but Ellie snored softly, the only sound breaking the stillness.

The door creaked open slowly.

Kyla stepped inside, quiet as a shadow, and walked towards the bed. She looked at Ellie with a soft smile, as if seeing something fragile. Carefully, she lay down beside her, their faces just inches apart.

A whisper left Kyla's lips. "Ellie, wake up."

Ellie stirred, mumbling into the pillow. "Oh... I thought I was awake, but I'm still dreaming."

She opened her eyes slowly, her lashes fluttering like she was trying to hold on to sleep. The blurry sight of Kyla's face slowly came into view.

"I must still be dreaming... I can see Kyla's face right in front of me."

Then Kyla reached out and gently touched her cheek.

"Ellie, you're not dreaming. I'm really here."

That jolted her awake. Ellie's eyes widened in shock as she shot up from bed, the blanket falling off her.

"Kyla?! What are you doing here?" Her voice trembled like she'd just seen a ghost.

Kyla propped her head on her hand and smirked. "Why are you so shocked? Aren't you happy to see me?"

Ellie slapped her own cheek. "Okay, wake up. Wake up. This girl isn't Kyla. This has to be a dream."

Kyla giggled quietly while watching Ellie spiral into confusion. Her soft smile lingered, and for a moment, she found herself daydreaming.

A memory from when they were five surfaced—

"Ellie, what do you want to be when you grow up?" Kyla had asked.

"I love writing novels, so maybe a writer," little Ellie replied proudly.

"Really? Then can I be your artist?" Kyla had asked, holding a crayon like it was a sword.

"Do you even know how to draw?"

"Of course! Hey! Don't you believe me?"

"Fine," Ellie had teased, "I'll pretend to believe you."

"Let's make a promise then. I promise when we grow up, I'll be your artist."

"Well then I promise to be your writer."

"Pinky promise?"

"Pinky promise."

Kyla's smile softened at the memory—until a blanket hit her face.

"Hey! Why are you smiling like that?!" Ellie asked.

Kyla slowly turned her gaze. "Oh, you're gonna pay for that. Come here, you little one."

"Hey-hey! What are you doing?!" Ellie squealed as Kyla lunged.

Their laughter echoed through the room. Ellie ran, giggling, but slammed her hip into the edge of the table, knocking a glass of water onto herself. Kyla couldn't stop laughing.

"You're so clumsy, Ellie!"

"Says the girl chasing me around like a psycho!"

But before she could finish, Ellie slipped, her feet flying into the air—

"AHHHHH!"

She landed directly on top of Kyla.

When she opened her eyes, her hands were pressed against Kyla's chest. Her face turned red.

"Hey!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"

"Shouldn't I be the one asking that question?" Kyla smirked.

Ellie froze. Their faces were inches apart. Their eyes locked. A stillness fell over the room. The spark between them flickered to life again. Kyla leaned in slightly. Ellie's heart was pounding. Time slowed.

Kyla was so close, and Ellie was leaning in too—until the door burst open.

"AHHH! I'm sorry! I didn't know you were busy!" Yesha shouted, backing out.

Ellie quickly scrambled off Kyla. "Oh, it's you?!"

"Ellie, that hurt! Why'd you push me?!" Kyla whined, rubbing her back.

"Shut up, Kyla!" Ellie shot her a warning glare.

Later in the kitchen, Ellie sat with Yesha, laughing and chatting, completely forgetting Kyla was still in the house. Kyla watched them from the hallway, eyes narrowed.

"Ehem!" she interrupted.

"Oh Angel, you're still here?" Ellie teased.

Kyla's face turned red. Smoke could've come out of her ears.

"I'll be back, babe," Kyla said with a wicked smirk before walking out the door.

Once she was gone, Yesha raised an eyebrow. "So… who is she, little one?"

Ellie hesitated. "She's just... my friend. Nothing special."

Yesha gave her a look. "Right. Just a friend."

[IN KYLA'S CAR]

"AHHH!!" Kyla groaned, gripping the steering wheel. "Trying to make me jealous, huh? You think I don't know how to play this game, Ellie? I'm gonna take back what's mine."

---

[BACK AT ELLIE'S KITCHEN]

"So what brings you here?" Ellie asked.

Yesha smirked. "Someone wants you back in acting."

"Who?"

"Director Tristan. You know, that handsome, rich director who's clearly crushing on you."

Ellie groaned. "Shut up, Yesha. He's just a friend."

"Just a friend, huh?" Yesha teased. "So when he called you 'his muse' last time, was that just part of the script too?"

"You heard that?!"

"Everyone heard it."

Ellie rolled her eyes. "Anyway, you seem pretty interested in him."

Yesha raised her brow. "Me? Please. I prefer someone who writes with her heart."

Ellie blinked. "What's that supposed to mean?"

Yesha leaned in, eyes soft. "It means the one I truly like... is you."

Ellie nearly choked on her drink. "What?!"

Yesha giggled. "I thought you were the observant type, Ellie. Guess not."

"You're kidding, right?"

"Nope."

"But—You always tease me like a big sister!"

"And now I'm teasing you like a girl in love."

Ellie didn't know what to say. Her face turned pink. Yesha leaned back casually, grinning.

"I'll wait for you to catch up," she said.

Erica knows that Yesha wasn't just teasing her, she knows that it was true. But even though she already know it she still believes that Yesha didn't like her and the one that Yesha like was Tristan and not her.

[TISHA AND ELOIRA'S POV:]

"Tisha come quick, the series was about to start". Eloira called Tisha. She was so excited that they can watch the series together.

"Wait a bit Eloira dont be so excited".

When Tisha sat beside Eloira, the soft gentle breeze of the air from the open glass door from the balcony matched with their romantic time. Tisha lean on Eloira's shoulder, their make a one second eye to eye with eachother and fastly they both looked on the opposite direction.

"HAHAHAHA". Both giggles, looking at eachother feeling a bit cringe.

"Hey Tisha, are you blushing?". Eloira asked.

"No I'm not". Tisha denied. "Maybe your the one who's blushing".

And then they stop...

And for the second time when they looked at each other again at the same time as the series that they were watching the main character was about to kiss eachother and so they were, a perfect romantic long kiss, when their lips touch it feels like they were floating in the sky holding eachother's hands and lying on the bright blue clouds.

"Tisha!!!!! Ughh!! FUCK!". Eloira hardly whispering her voice holding on Risha's shirt.

Tisha cover's her mouth while slowly liking up her body.

"Shsss Eloira, be quiet. I promise I'll be gentle."

"Wait close the door first".

[CASSANDRA AND REILA'S POV:]

It was almost sunset when Cassandra was hitting the road with Reila as her passenger princess.

"Where are we going Cassandra?". Reila asked.

"Secret. You'll know that later".

Cassandra continues to drive and Reila opened up the car radio and put the sound on their favourite song.

Cassandra smirk. "Hey that's our favourite song".

"Yeah I know".

As they were having a conversation Cassandra opened the car roof.

"WHOO!!" Reila _ every touch of the wind blowing stronger and stronger every move that Cassandra steps on the gas flashing along the wide long road, but then Cassandra stoped her car and part it near a park.

"Where are we?," Reila asked.

"It's a surprise, for now I have to cover your eyes."

Cassandra holds her hand and guide her to a picnic set Cassandra made and slowly she removes the blindfold.

"Surprise!!."

Reila was shocke for a second and then she hugged Cassandra tight.

"So this was it all about." Reila said.

Cassandra carried her on to the picnic set, and there they were sitting— holding hand to hand. A perfect weather for a perfect date.

[AT THE PARK – ANASTASIA, IRENE, VEILAH]

The sun was golden, casting long shadows through the park trees. Birds chirped, couples strolled, and children played nearby. Anastasia, Irene, and Veilah walked side by side, sipping iced coffee and talking about everything and nothing.

"I swear," Irene said, laughing, "if Ellie gets another girl crush this week, I'm starting a chart."

"We should start a betting pool," Veilah added.

Suddenly, a guy bumped straight into Anastasia.

"Oww! Watch it!" she snapped.

The guy blinked, smirking. "My bad. Didn't see you there."

Veilah stepped forward. "Didn't see her? How could you miss a walking goddess in broad daylight?"

The guy's two friends joined him.

"Woah, calm down," one said. "It was an accident."

"You people always dramatic like this?" the other added.

"Dramatic?" Irene glared. "Try bumping into me and we'll talk."

The first guy flicked Anastasia's forehead. "You'll live."

"EXCUSE ME?!"

But before they could react, the three guys ran off, laughing.

"Get back here!" Veilah shouted, chasing them a few steps before giving up.

The girls stood frozen.

"Did... he just flick me?" Anastasia asked, horrified.

"Yes," Veilah said solemnly. "He did."

Irene folded her arms. "We were just violated by frat-boy energy."

They sulked dramatically on a bench, arms crossed, heads resting on each other's shoulders.

"We should've kicked their knees," Veilah muttered.

"We're too beautiful for jail," Irene said.

"True," Anastasia sighed.

"But that one tall guy on back was hot." Veilah said.

"Don't tell me you will fall for those jerks?." Anastasia dramatically said glancing at Veilah.

"Hey! Both of you stop,"

[BACK AT ELLIE'S HOUSE]

"Maybe your the one who likes Tristan, huh?" Yesha teased.

"Who said that?! He's not even my type!" Ellie defended.

"Relax, Ellie," Yesha giggled. "I just wanted to see you flustered."

"You're the worst."

"But your favorite," Yesha winked.

Ellie didn't deny it.

Their afternoon had started with warmth and laughter, but it quickly unraveled into a mess of chaos, tension, and tightly bottled emotions. Between Ellie getting chased around by Kyla in a chaotic mix of flirtation and clumsiness, and Yesha's sudden, teasing confession that left Ellie's heart confused and her mind racing, the air had grown thick with unspoken feelings and unresolved jealousy. Meanwhile, Kyla's possessiveness simmered beneath her smile, her jealousy sparked by the sight of Ellie feeding Yesha so casually. Across town, Irene, Anastasia, and Veilah's peaceful stroll turned unexpectedly hostile after an infuriating run-in with three smug strangers, leaving them sulking on a bench, wounded by both embarrassment and ego. The entire afternoon felt like an emotional tug-of-war—between past and present feelings, playful teasing and real confessions, laughter and longing. It was a day full of affection twisted into frustration, and moments that felt light on the surface but heavy beneath it all.

But it was one of the afternoon times that will be a great memory, especially for Irene, Anastasia and Veilah. Being annoyed by a 3 smugs was so frustrating but how could they say. Maybe they won't expect that something will happen on their future starting with those 3 gugs. The afternoon ended with them sitting in the golden glow of the sun, looking like the cover of a tragic love story.
