Outside the tent, a guard announced his presence.
"Miss, can I enter inside?"
Getting out of her thoughts, Zara looked toward the curtain. putting her hand on her chest, taking deep breaths,
"Come in."
The curtain ruffled as the guard entered. respectfully putting his hand on his chest.
" Miss, the healer has arrived. We're ready to send him in to treat your injury."
Zara paused, tilting her head, then responded,
" Okay, send him in."
As the guard goes outside, Zara looks upward, stripping in her memories again.
After some time, a man entered the tent. He was wearing glasses and a white robe covering his body,
"Miss, can I start healing you?"
Seeing Zara nodding, he began channeling his mana into a spell strange symbols started forming. After a moment of assessment, he spoke.
"Miss, don't worry. It's a minor injury; the attacker only wanted to knock you unconscious. It will heal after simple magic."
"Thank you, healer... um..." nodding, Zara hesitated, unsure of his name.
"You can just call me Julius."
Zara nodded gratefully.
"Thanks, Mr. Julius."
Julius poured his mana and made a green spell. Zara tilted her head, seeing symbols written inside the spell circle. The green mana touched her head, which healed most of the injury on her head caused by the bandit.
After completing his healing, he bowed last time and left the tent. Zara sank back into her thoughts, once again drifting toward unfamiliar memories.
In the game, her character was nothing more than a side character—someone who would die after the crazy demon invaded the academy.
"Ah... I don't want to die," Zara muttered to herself, her eyes lit up.
"But there's hope now. I know a little about the future now, and I can avoid it. I won't die, trust yourself, Zara."
Outside the tent, the captain's voice sounded,
"Miss, it's time. We need to head to the academy. If we delay much longer, we'll miss your quota for testing your mana core."
Hearing him, she quickly stood up.
"Ah, yes. Let's go, Captain," Zara replied quickly.
She hurried toward the carriage, and as she sat inside the carriage, a soft "Ding" echoed in her mind.
[Sign-in System activated]
[Host: Lira detected]
[System activated]
Zara paused, hearing the strange, cute voice,
"Am I hearing sounds?" she looked around and dint see any kid.
' I thought it was some kid's voice'
Suddenly, a screen appeared in front of her, and her gaze became alert, seeing an unfamiliar glowing rectangle. She looked closely at the rectangle and could see something written on it.
As she read the screen, her thoughts became confused.
"Huh? who is lira?"
As she thought, she quickly got a picture in her mind,
"Aren't the owner of these unfamiliar memories named Lira?"
Zara thought, furrowing her brow as she began to sift through her memories to understand what this thing was, or its meaning.
After some recalling, her eyes lit up, realizing this thing is called a system, and it is just a concept from a novel or anime—nothing real. Her thoughts start racing.
'If this isn't related to Lira… then what is this system? And does it think I'm Lira?'
Her mind swirled with questions, trying to make sense of the strange occurrence.
"Ahem," Zara cleared her throat and started speaking. "What exactly do you do, system, and how do you know my name is Lira, and where is this place?"
In novels, every MC asked this question, to gain knowledge'
She began probing the system as she realized this lira was not from this world, from her memories, probing any information that could explain this strange occurrence.
["I was born from megaverse radiations. I found your soul floating in null space, and I determined you to be a compatible host. Then, I found this dead girl's body for you to take over."]
The system spoke dramatically, almost as if it wanted to take credit for itself.
'dead body I didn't die, how dare he.... and why is his tone like he is just bragging'
Zara's temples throbbed from hearing the system. With hidden anger creeping into her tone, she asked again, "Oh, so if you're this powerful, then you must be all-knowing, right?"
["Yes, I know everything, and I'm very powerful. Don't worry—though this world is home to strong people, I'll make you just as powerful as them."]
Zara began to think over what the system had said, then asked again, "Then what happened to Zara, whose body I'm taking over?"
["Oh, her. Her soul was destroyed because of my mistake. When I took over her body, I was supposed to claim her soul for reincarnation, but it was destroyed. What a pity."]
Zara made an incredulous face after hearing the system's response, then she asked again, "Where will she be reincarnated if her soul was not destroyed, System?"
["I cannot answer that,"] it replied.
Then, in a whispering voice, it added:
["It's classified information."]
"So, you're bound to me… Can you unbind yourself from me?"
The system suddenly began to babble in a hurry.
["I can, of course, do it if I want to! B-But don't worry—I won't! I'm a generous system!"]
After hearing that, Zara could feel that he was nervous as he replied. Zara began to smile, then burst into laughter.
"Ha... ha ha... ha hahahaha!"
["Why are you laughing, Host? I'm an honest system! I-I can, of course, unbind myself!"]
After she stopped laughing, Zara began to speak without fear.
"So, you can't unbind yourself, huh? Very good." She smirked. "Oh, and I have some great news for you, system."
["Huh? Great news? What great news! And I can unbind myself! But I'm a generous system—believe it or not!"]
"The mistake you made didn't kill me... but you killed Lira. Tsk tsk tsk."
["Eh?"]
"Yes, and you hear right."
["Eeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh?!"]
