Chapter 108: Summoning a Holy Angel for Battle

Weapon X Program – Secret Base.

Two soldiers leaned against the wall, smoking cigarettes and chatting about where to relax and have some fun once they got leave.

"Something's up!"

The next moment, one of them tossed his cigarette, raised his weapon, and fixed his gaze on the two people approaching.

"Don't shoot!"

Allen held his katana to Wade's neck and shouted, "We're on the same side! I captured a mutant!"

Click!

With a bullet chambered, the soldier barked, "Drop your weapon and surrender immediately!"

Bang! Bang!

Wade acted first and took out the soldiers. "Your plan sucks," he scoffed.

Allen stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Maybe your acting just sucks."

"It was a crap idea to begin with."

Wade drew his twin pistols, ready for action.

Meanwhile, Mystique was sneaking through the shadows inside the base, waiting for the right opportunity to rescue the students.

The three had split up to carry out their mission.

It made sense—Illyana had teleportation powers and could evacuate people to safety. That left Allen and Wade to draw attention and create a diversion.

"Need a weapon?"

Wade, dual-wielding pistols with two katanas strapped to his back, glanced at the empty-handed Allen.

"Nope."

Allen reached behind his butt and pulled out an ancient-looking dagger. With pride, he declared, "I've got an ancient artifact—Tetanus Fang."

Wade stared in disbelief. "How'd you hide that back there without getting hurt?"

"I clenched the whole time."

"…"

Meanwhile, in the base's surveillance room—

Colonel Stryker watched Allen and Wade striding confidently through the halls on the monitors. Turning to the young Asian man beside him, he ordered, "Zero, wrap this up quickly."

"No problem."

Agent Zero stood with confidence. Not only was he a marksman with 100% accuracy, but he was also the first product of the Weapon X Program. Though he wasn't the most powerful due to the lack of early test samples, he was still a top-tier agent, not to be underestimated.

Stryker hadn't sent ordinary soldiers to their deaths—he knew full well what Deadpool was capable of. And in peacetime, high casualty counts were hard to explain to the higher-ups.

Over the years, his research on mutant genes had already yielded a full Weapon X squad—all elite killers.

Because the captured mutant students had only just arrived, he hadn't had time to profile their abilities yet. He wasn't about to waste valuable test subjects.

Back with the intruding pair—

They wandered through the base, oddly not encountering a single soldier, like two headless chickens stumbling around.

"Wade, maybe we should ask someone?" Allen suggested.

"We have to find someone first," Wade replied, dead serious.

When the breach alert had gone off, Stryker had ordered the troops to fall back immediately, avoiding direct conflict to minimize casualties.

That's how they'd strolled in so easily.

"There—let's ask him."

Allen pointed toward a man in a shirt and suspenders at the end of the corridor.

Agent Zero raised his twin pistols without hesitation—and Allen immediately shoved Wade in front of him as a human shield.

Bang! Bang!

Wade looked down at his new chest wounds and growled, "So you think you're the only one who can shoot?"

The two immediately opened fire on each other.

Allen ducked aside, crouching low to avoid the exchange.

Let them duke it out—he wasn't about to risk catching a stray bullet.

"I should check what skills my Priest class has. I forgot to last time."

Looking at the four skills—aside from the angel summoning, they were all support-based.

"So I'm basically a healer," Allen said, clutching his chest awkwardly. "And not even a good one. I couldn't even cure a cold with this weak healing."

Suddenly, the gunfire stopped.

Agent Zero and Wade were both behind cover, reloading and repositioning.

They were well-matched.

One had flawless aim.

The other could take a hundred bullets and not die.

(Wade, obviously, was the latter.)

"No more pretending."

Allen stepped out with his hands on his hips and declared proudly, "I am God, descended to save humanity."

Wade peeked out from behind cover and said reverently, "Lord, I have a wish—can you restore my handsome face? Wearing this mask every day really stinks."

"You poor soul. Can't we ask for something more realistic, like Team Sea Cucumber winning the World Cup?" Allen responded, pained.

"World War III's more likely," Wade muttered.

Ping!

A bullet bounced off Allen's chest—right over his heart.

Guardian's Embrace had blocked a fatal blow.

Allen's expression darkened as he turned to face the now-reloaded Agent Zero. "Mortal, feel the wrath of God! Come forth—my Angelmon!"

He raised a single hand to the heavens.

A radiant portal opened above, glowing with soft, cloudlike light.

And from within it descended a tall holy angel—two meters tall, with a pair of shining wings.

"Whoa… it's really an angel?" Wade asked, eyes wide. "Are you really God?"

"Wait… why is it a dude?"

Allen stared at the angel's masculine form and couldn't hide his disappointment.

Bang!

A bullet tore through the angel's head.

In an instant, it disintegrated into shimmering motes of light.

"Heh… angel," Agent Zero scoffed.

In the surveillance room, Colonel Stryker let out a relieved breath.

He'd almost believed a real angel had shown up. Seeing it shot down in one hit, he quickly realized it was just a mutant power.

There was no shortage of religious zealots in the world—plenty claimed to see angels each year, and verifying the truth was a nightmare.

Better to just stay respectful. If mutants were already trouble, you didn't want to go picking fights with heaven. Thankfully, the divine didn't care much about the mundane world.

"I just went out to buy groceries and got lost," Allen muttered, ducking behind the wall again.

He'd tried to make a grand entrance, only for it to end in total embarrassment.

Gunfire erupted again, bullets flying in all directions.

Agent Zero weaved between them skillfully, while Wade didn't even bother with cover.

When you're immortal, you can afford to be reckless.

Eventually, both sides ran out of bullets—neither gaining the upper hand.

Wade drew his twin swords with a smirk. "What now? Outta tricks?"

Agent Zero pulled a dagger, his tone ice-cold. "I'm just as deadly up close."

And the two immediately clashed in melee.

Each strike targeted vital points, every move intended to kill.

They darted around the terrain, trading blow for blow.

"You're really a pain in the ass," Wade growled.

If he didn't have a healing factor, he'd be dead a dozen times over by now.

Facing such a strong opponent right off the bat—it was clear this mission was only going to get tougher from here.
