Chapter 65 - Orders in Motion

Chapter 18:"Orders in Motion"

The path back to base was long but peaceful, the forests around them humming with the songs of early birds and rustling leaves. Division 10 walked in a loose formation, talking, teasing, and resting after their victory in Virelia.

But one pair stood out.

"You absolute meathead—stop calling me your servant!"

Synoh gritted his teeth, dark mana flickering in his palm.

Dred, walking with his hands behind his head, just smirked.

"What? I carried you half-dead after that Sloth guy. That makes me your superior now."

"You wanna fight again?!"

Meth, walking beside them, sighed with a laugh.

"Captain, I thought you two hated each other?"

Dred grinned. "Nah, he's good now. Solid guy. Just happens to be my subordinate now, right Synoh?"

"Say that again and I'll shove a drill where the sun don't shine!" Synoh snapped, trying to chase him.

Laughter broke out among the recruits and a few seniors. Even Aloy, who usually kept quiet, chuckled under his breath.

But Ursa, arms crossed, walked silently ahead of them. Her brow twitched.

"Tch... getting all chummy like this after one mission... I still don't like him."

Up front, Captain Elara rode her armored mount calmly—eyes half-closed, seemingly unbothered.

Suddenly—

Fwip!

A silver-feathered messenger bird swooped down, landing neatly on Elara's forearm.

She read the scroll tied to its leg. Her expression sharpened.

"New orders." Her voice cut through the air like a blade.

The squad fell silent.

She turned to the group.

"Division 10, we're not going back to base just yet. We've been reassigned immediately to a new mission. No rest."

Dred blinked. "Already?!"

Synoh, brushing his cloak, muttered, "What's the situation?"

Captain Elara narrowed her eyes.

"A border town near the edge of the Cran Empire has gone dark. No signals. No trade. No response to magic communication."

"A scouting team vanished yesterday."

The air turned cold.

"This isn't just another village escort. We're walking into the unknown. Gear up. We move in thirty."

Everyone looked at each other.

The laughter and teasing faded, replaced by focused eyes and tightened grips on weapons.

Division 10 wasn't done yet.
