Chapter 59: The Third Awakening

Philip picked up his phone and called his brother.

"Come home," he said simply. "There's something you need to see."

Twenty minutes later, his brother stormed through the front door, his eyes wide and searching. When he saw Amaka sitting calmly on the couch, wrapped in a soft glow with light occasionally flickering around her fingers, he froze.

"She… awakened?" he asked, almost breathless.

Philip nodded.

"Yeah. I just… pushed a bit of ether. Some of my energy mixed with hers, and it happened."

His brother turned to him with big, gleaming eyes—puppy eyes—hopeful and annoying.

Philip recoiled slightly.

"Eww. Don't do that," he muttered. "Seriously. Just lie down."

"Lie down?"

"Yes. I'll handle the rest."

He led his brother to his old room—the one he had long since moved out of. It still had the faded posters on the wall and the bedsheet with superhero prints. Philip laid a fresh white sheet underneath.

"You might leak impurities," he said. "Didn't want to deal with the stench later."

His brother lay back nervously, and Philip stood over him, pressing his palm gently to his chest. Slowly, he infused ether, the same way he had done with Amaka. Unlike her, there was no sudden glow, no dramatic burst of energy—just a slow exhale as his brother's body relaxed, and his eyes fluttered shut.

He had gone under.

Philip stepped back, folding his arms.

"He'll wake up in a few hours."

He walked out, not even glancing back. Something tugged at his senses—something greater.

The world had been watching.

Unbeknownst to his siblings, powerhouses across the continent—and beyond—had been waiting. For two days, they had tracked his presence. They knew he was at his parents' house, but none had dared approach, uncertain whether interrupting an awakening would provoke him.

But now the silence had stretched too long.

Rumors spread.

The new demigod is here.

Some thought he might be unstable. Others hoped to recruit him. Foreign organizations had already landed in Nigeria—secret task forces, powerful sorcerers, even representatives of shadowy councils. A few demigods—beings of old bloodlines and divine favor—had come as well.

Some believed he was unstable. A ticking ether-bomb with the potential to unmake cities.

Others saw opportunity.

Powerful organizations from across Africa, Asia, and Europe had quietly entered Nigerian soil. Not with armies—but with emissaries. Secret task forces. Ethereal strike teams. Witches bound in contracts. Warlord scholars in obsidian robes. Even beings that no longer called themselves human.

Some arrived through portals. Others in black SUVs.
