Chapter 84 - Chapter 84: The Hardworking Student Council President

The girl accepted the documents Charles handed her and said gratefully, "Thank you so much!"

Charles replied politely, "Not at all! If it weren't for us, you wouldn't have fallen."

Stella chimed in, "Sorry about that—it was my fault for not looking where I was going."

The girl adjusted her glasses. "It was my fault too! Also, you're being way too formal!"

Charles shook his head. "You're a third-year senpai, and the student council president at that. It's only right to speak respectfully."

That's right—this slightly scatterbrained girl was none other than the president of Pojun Academy's student council, and the academy's undisputed strongest student knight: Tōdō Tōka, ranked number one.

Tōdō Tōka, Blazer Rank: B. Her Device was a traditional Japanese sword named Narukami, and her ability was elemental-type lightning manipulation.

By mastering electromagnetism, Tōka developed a super-high-speed draw technique: her signature Thunder God Slash (Raikiri)—a strike so powerful it could slice through lightning itself.

The move was so overwhelmingly strong that Tōka had never failed to defeat an opponent once she used it. Her alias, Raikiri, was the same as her signature move.

If she hadn't faced that year's Seven Stars Sword King, Moroboshi Yūdai, in the semifinals, she likely wouldn't have finished just fourth last year.

Even Moroboshi hadn't dared face her Thunder God Slash directly. He was only able to win by sealing her technique with tactics and defeating her before she could draw her blade.

But it would be a mistake to think her strength lay only in her ability. When it came to martial arts, Tōka was among the very best at Pojun.

She, like Saigū Nene, was a direct disciple of the Battle Deity Nankyō Injiro.

Charles had actually gone out of his way to watch her matches, but unfortunately, her opponents had all been too weak to force her to show her true skill. Some had even surrendered the moment the match began.

Stella now took a good look at Tōka. She'd been too distracted earlier by the whole "panty incident," but now she was just realizing who this girl really was.

"She really is the student council president… the Thunder God herself!"

Charles, meanwhile, was beginning to think that maybe airheadedness wasn't contagious—because now it was clear Stella had a touch of it too.

Tōka blushed and said, "Being student council president just means I serve the student body. It's nothing that special."

Charles replied, "It's not the position that's impressive—it's you, Tōka-senpai."

Tōka waved her hands in a fluster. "No, no, you two are amazing yourselves! First-years Charles and Stella, right?"

It seemed she recognized them—no surprise, given how much attention they'd drawn at the academy.

Charles wasn't surprised, and as he picked up the last few scattered documents, he said, "No need for pleasantries. If it's all right with you, let us help carry these. It's too much for one person."

Tōka beamed. "Really? Thank you so much."

Once they split the pile into three portions, it wasn't much at all. For Blazers of their level, it was basically weightless.

As they walked to the student council office, Charles and Stella witnessed just how respected Tōka was among the students.

Nearly everyone they passed greeted her with admiration, and she responded to each person by name—proof that the respect she received was well earned.

The student council office was surprisingly far away. It took them five or six minutes of walking to finally arrive.

Standing in front of the door, Tōka turned and said, "Thank you both for your help! If you're free, would you like to come in for some tea? Kitahara brought some wonderful new leaves!"

Charles nodded. "Then I'll take you up on the offer. What about you, Stella?"

"I'll join too! I'm really thirsty."

As soon as they agreed, Tōka opened the office door and stepped inside—then—

"Whoa! Oww!"

Tōka had tripped over something and fell flat on her face, her underwear once again exposed. Charles had no idea why the student council president's skirt was so ineffective.

This time, Charles wisely turned away. Stella, however, didn't block his eyes—instead, she muttered, "I bet if someone sold ad space on her panties, they'd make a fortune."

Charles now confirmed: Stella was definitely not normal. Who else would come up with such a bizarre idea?

"Argh… ow ow ow… What just happened?" Tōka groaned, and then lapsed into her regional dialect—clear proof of how flustered she was. She looked into the room and turned pale.

"Wha… what the heck happened in here?!"

Charles had razor-sharp dynamic vision, and though he'd only glanced inside for a moment, he had already taken in the scene.

The bookshelves and drawers were still intact—but all the books and miscellaneous items that should have been neatly arranged were scattered across the floor. What had tripped Tōka was a dumbbell.

Inside the messy room were the other members of the student council.

Secretary Saiseki Rai was writing meeting minutes—his notes were surprisingly neat. Treasurer Kitahara Kanata, dressed impeccably as always, was calmly pouring tea for him.

But the other two members… were difficult to describe.

Vice President Mihari Uka, whom Charles hadn't met before, was glued to her handheld game console. And then there was Usamaru Renren, whom he had met—doing resistance training with a hand grip while watching the game.

Worse yet, Usamaru was wearing only a thin tank top and underwear—looking completely disheveled.

"Oh hey! Welcome back, President!"

"Ahaha, clumsy as always, Tōka tripped again."

Neither seemed to notice Tōka's thunderous expression—they even dared to greet her cheerfully.

"Geez! Usamaru-san, didn't I tell you to put the dumbbells away after using them?! That's dangerous! And Uka, how many times have I told you to put the manga back on the shelf?! You just leave everything lying around!

I was gone for half a day, and the room's already turned into a disaster zone?!"

Faced with Tōka's scolding, the two of them responded weakly, "Ugh… President… Why are you so sure it was us? You can't prove it! Maybe you're wrongly accusing us!"

"You're the only one who does strength training in the council room, Usamaru-san! And Uka, you're the only one who tosses manga everywhere!"

Exposed without mercy, Usamaru shamelessly began explaining how the mess had happened.

Tōka's frustration was now manifesting as sparks of electricity crackling around her body—until Kitahara gently reminded her that there were guests present.

Snapping out of it, Tōka turned to the door, suddenly self-conscious.

Caught in such an awkward moment, Charles and Stella could only respond with awkward smiles of their own.

Forcing a strained smile, Tōka grabbed the double doors of the council room and said, "Ohoho… Would you mind waiting just a moment?"

Without waiting for a reply, she shut the doors in their faces.

Through the walls, faint voices could be heard.

"All right, everyone! Clean-up time! Uka, turn off the game!"

"Wait! Tōka, don't—! I haven't saved since yesterday! My rare materials—NOOOO!"

"How many times do I have to say it?! One hour of games a day! The moment I take my eyes off you, this is what happens! And Usamaru-san, why are you dressed like that?! There are boys in here, you know! At least wear a skirt!"

Stella, clutching her stack of documents, said, "Tōka-senpai… kind of feels like a mom."

Charles nodded in agreement. "Being student council president looks exhausting."
