During that fight, we had scattered most of the demons and killed some of them, but there were also some that had been captured.
These demons that had been captured had been placed on the side to deal with later.
Now that all the demons had been cleared out, it was the time to do so.
But before that…
"Can you summon a dove to send a message back to Bristol City?" I asked the mage of our party, a young girl named Lulu.
Lulu gave a nod which made her pink twintails shake up and down before she went to cast her summoning spell.
I left this to her as I went back to the demons that had already been surrounded by the other members of our party.
It seemed that they were trying to look threatening, but they really couldn't look that threatening. After all, they were still too young for that, so they just came off as harmless.
Their youth was part of the reason I chose them.
They would grow to become as strong as I needed them to become.
But right now, it wasn't really their strongest point.
As such, it was up to me to make up for what they couldn't do.
It was clear that the demons were wary of me as they suddenly turned to look at me when I walked over. Or it was better to say that they were wary of the hero's sword that I was holding.
They recognized that this was the thing that was the most threatening to them, so of course they were wary of it.
Once I came over, I raised the hero's sword in front of me and released a faint glow from it before saying, "Now, tell me what you know."
The demons looked like they were caught off guard when they heard this.
They looked at me as if they were trying to figure out if I was being serious or not, but there wasn't a single trace of joking that was on my face. After all, I was prepared to take them all out if they didn't tell me what they knew.
After a moment of silence, I came forward and brought the hero's sword down on one of the demons.
"Ah!"
That cry of pain was the last sound that this demon made before he was cut in half. Even after being cut in half, the two parts of his body seemed like they had been hit with fire as they started releasing smoke.
It didn't take long before the demon had been turned into ashes.
A deathly silence hung in the air as everyone just looked at me with strange looks that were filled with traces of fear. However, I didn't care about any of this as I turned to look at the next demon while raising the hero's sword up.
When the demon saw this, he couldn't help saying in a shaky voice, "You, what are you planning to do?"
I looked at him as if it was obvious before saying, "Are you really asking this?"
The demon trembled when he heard this before he couldn't help saying, "Aren't you the hero? How can you do something like this?"
The other demons couldn't help nodding in agreement to this.
Even the members of my own party seemed like they agreed with the demon to a certain extent.
Only I just ignored all of them as I focused on the demons in front of me.
With the hero's sword held up, I asked, "Do you think that this will change my mind? There's only two options in front of you right now, so I'm just waiting for you to pick one."
The demons all had helpless looks on their faces when they heard this.
So to give them a bit of motivation, I stepped forward again.
"Wait, wait, what do you want to know?"
At this, Andrea immediately said, "How did you sneak into our land?"
The demons seemed to ignore her with the way that they continued looking at me.
In a way, it was almost as if they were waiting for confirmation from me first.
So I just gave a simple nod.
"We're weaker demons that have the ability to hide our demonic energy. Of course, that doesn't mean that we're completely immune to things that demons are weak against."
It made sense that this was the case.
After all, if they had the ability to fight and sneak, then it would be very bad.
It wasn't strange that their ability to sneak would come at the cost of their ability to fight.
This was something that I had already guessed from earlier, but the other members of my party seemed like they weren't happy with this.
They thought that they had defeated demons, but it turned out that these demons were nothing more than demons at the very bottom of the pyramid.
While they were lost in thought at this, I asked, "Who sent you?"
Once they heard this question, their attention was immediately pulled back and they narrowed their eyes as if they wanted to put more pressure on the demons. Only it didn't seem like the demons cared at all about what they were doing.
The demons only cared about me and the hero's sword in my hand.
After a moment of silence, the demon that spoke before finally said, "It was the new demon king."
"There's a new demon king?" Amy asked immediately.
The demon gave a slow nod before saying, "Our new demon king has already taken the throne. It won't be long before the great demon king will be leading an invasion on the lands of you humans. It's not too late for you to surrender now. You can start by letting us go."
Amy hit that demon on the head with her staff before saying, "What is the new demon king's name."
"Val Zahad."
The others had grim looks on their faces when they heard this, but I couldn't help giving a secret bitter laugh.
"It seems like he's already being used as a scapegoat."
