AT THE SAME TIME
ADRIAN'S POINT OF VIEW:
The silence after the blood moon faded wasn't peaceful. It was thick. Heavy. Like the world was holding its breath. We walked slowly toward the house, our house with Xavier's parents trailing behind, eyes wide, faces pale, steps cautious. Kaori Blackstone held tightly onto her husband's sleeve as she whispered something under her breath in Japanese. I didn't catch the words, but the fear in her voice was sharp enough.
Michael and Jaxon followed too, quiet for once. Selene and Charlie flanked the rear, their auras calm but alert. And Kael, stoic as ever, walked ahead, scouting as if an ambush could happen at any moment. Even here. Kaori finally broke the silence, voice trembling but firm.
"Xavier… is this real?"She asked.
Xavier paused. Turned. His voice was soft.
"It's as real as it gets."Xavier asked.
