During dinner, the family was enjoying a warm and harmonious meal. It was Martin Riley's first time tasting Crystal Foster's cooking, and he was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was.
Otto swallowed his last bite and looked up at Martin with a hopeful expression. "Daddy, didn't you prepare any gift for me?"
Martin paused, his chopsticks hovering in mid-air, as he realized that both Crystal and Otto were watching him expectantly. "Ahem, today was a bit rushed, so I didn't have time to get you anything. What would you like?"
Otto glanced at Crystal, then back at Martin, and asked cautiously, "Can I really have anything I want?"
Martin set down his chopsticks, wondering if he had been too strict with Otto, as the boy seemed a bit afraid of him. "You know Daddy's rule: as long as it's reasonable, you can have anything you want." He ruffled Otto's hair gently, his patience evident.
