Chapter 25 - Chapter 25 Supernatural Club

"Why not join this club my friends and I made?" Liam said, "It's called... The Supernatural Club, A Club that is dedicated to exploring the world hidden behind the veil" Liam with a wave of his hand.

"So? What do you think?" Liam asked looking expectantly at her.

"Uhhh, no, I couldn't," She said hesitantly.

"Cmon don't you think it will be fun exploring the world behind the veil?" Liam questioned with a straight face causing Erica to giggle.

"Who even came up with that line?" she asked, laughing.

"A good buddy of mine called Stiles came up with it," Liam said.

"Stiles, I have heard of him, don't really know much about him tho," she said.

"I'll introduce you guys some time," Liam said, his lips betraying the smirk that crept up on his face.

"I don't know about that," Erica said with a nervous chuckle.

"What do you mean?!" Liam asked with surprise.

"Well, He always has his eyes on Lydia, there is no way he would like someone like me," Lydia said, her smile disappearing as she glanced at the ground with a frown.

"Well, if you join our group, I can promise you Stiles will notice you, but persuading him—that's on you. He's got his heart set on Lydia," Liam said with a laugh.

"You up for the challenge?" He asked, challenging her, hoping he could invoke her competitiveness.

Liam simply did not wish to see her dead.

"Fine... I'll join," she said as they arrived at the starting point.

Placing down the tall ladder, Liam shook it a little to make sure it was stable. "I kinda don't want to do this anymore," he said, glancing at how high he'd have to climb.

"Well, you participated, so you have to do it," Erica said as she handed the starting strip of LED lights connected to the large roll of LEDs and a roll of duct tape.

Mrs. Jennifer walked over at this time.

"I see you have found all the tools you need," she said as she shifted her glance to Liam and began to instruct him as to how he should put the lights.

Liam was suspicious of her.

Was she trying to see if I am involved in the supernatural world, Liam thought to himself, she was paying an unnatural amount of attention.

...

Or maybe she is just being a good teacher, he thought feeling conflicted

Climbing up the stairs, he began to do four rows of lights as far as he could stretch out before he had to come down to move the ladder.

This process repeated for nearly 40 minutes, Liam constantly racking his brain trying to understand why she was still here.

"At this point, it's just harassment," Liam softly murmured as he was climbing down.

Mrs. Jennifer's ear twitched slightly as she glanced up at Liam.

Liam reached the ground soon, he stepped off the ladder with a little grunt.

His arm a little sore and back aching, he glanced up at the wall and saw that half the wall was covered.

"Looks like our Job is done," Liam said, a little exhausted as he pointed at the switched off lights.

"Yes, and good job, you guys should take a break," She said to the two of them as she began walking away.

Liam glanced at her and an idea appeared in his head.

He glanced at Erica, "Hey, I heard my sister and a bunch of her friends are going to the reserve tomorrow after ditching the Community night, you wanna head there as well?" Liam asked with a slightly raised tone.

Mrs. Jennifer stopped for a second when Liam's words reached her ears, but she quickly started walking again so as not to look odd.

"Well, I don't think it will be a good idea," Erica said.

"Yeah, you're right, it sounds lame anyway," Liam said, knowing his goal was accomplished.

There would be someone strong, protecting them, and Liam was finally able to put that but if stress away.

Feeling a sense of relief Liam glanced at his phone.

There was still nearly an hour and a half left so he glanced at Erica.

"There is still so much time," he said as she glanced at her phone.

"Oh wow, you're right, I thought all that work took us at least more than an hour," she said.

"Must be my superemely quick hands," Liam joked, causing Erica to chuckle a little.

The time ticked by, and Liam and Erica were assigned to set up stalls after nearly a 30-minute break.

Turned out this was the most time-consuming task here.

Lugging the wood from the warehouse, setting it up, and going for round two was why it took so much time.

Especially cause they were small in numbers.

By the time it was time for dispersal, Liam and Erica had only managed to successfully set up three stalls.

But Liam and Erica were proud over it.

"Take care of yourself," Liam waved as Erica moved towards the school bus, who smiled back and waved as she made her way onto the bus.

Liam took out his phone and dialed Claire, who told him that Phil would pick him since he was heading back home anyway.

"Okay, Mom," Liam said as he made his way over to the pickup point and sat on a grass patch nearby.

There were not too many kids around at this time as a majority of them had already left with their cycles or buses.

A handful were scattered around at the pickup area.

It was quiet as Liam took the evening breeze.

The sun dipping behind the horizon, its lights fading into darkness.

Liam sat there in peace and silence.

He was not aware of what could happen next in this crazy supernatural world.

He felt like he should take in moments like these whenever he could.

Soon Phill arrived to pick him up.

Getting in the car he saw Phil smiling.

"So, had fun?" Phil asked as he drove.

Liam took a deep breath as he thought back to the whole day and smiled.

"Yeah, today was a good day" Liam said feeling a little exhausted.

"That's good to hear buddy" Phil who was also feeling exhausted after a long day of work nodded to Liam and kept driving in silence.
