Compared to the cumbersome greatsword, this fire poker was much easier to carry. Arthas tucked it into the gap between his bracer and arm, then headed to the Dungeon.
He'd heeded Hephaestus's warning, but his reaction was a simple "Oh."
Arthas didn't respect the Gods, and he would confront them eventually, for himself and Riveria.
Of course, it might not be solvable through discussion… would the Gods listen to a mortal?
"Should I find a support member?"
Arthas muttered at the Dungeon entrance.
He knew how to encounter monsters, but a support member would be helpful.
As Arthas looked around, a familiar figure appeared.
"Sir, need a support member? Cheap rates."
Liliruca, with her large backpack and stiff smile, stood before him.
"You ran away when I offered you a job. Why are you back?"
Arthas chuckled, noticing a man angrily approaching in the distance.
Ah, she's in trouble again, and wants me to solve it.
Arthas shook his head, smiling kindly at Liliruca.
"I'll help, but you listen to me for the next three days."
Liliruca looked reluctant but nodded.
She was a penniless support member; no one would help her. She'd approached Arthas on a whim; he'd helped her before.
"You again?!"
The man stopped; it was the adventurer Arthas and Ryuu had scolded in the alley.
He was furious, his face contorted, his hand on his sword hilt.
"Get lost. No one will help you this time. Hand over the girl, or I'll make you regret it!"
Adventurers turned to watch.
Disputes between adventurers or adventurers and support members were common; usually, it was just a show.
There were guards near Babel Tower; they usually ignored disputes unless someone died.
Adventurers knew the severity of killing; most fights were minor.
But this man was enraged, and seeing Arthas fueled his hatred. He wanted to kill Arthas.
"Why is he chasing you, Miss Lilly?"
Arthas asked Liliruca, amused by the enraged man.
"He… he…"
As Liliruca stammered, the man lunged, swinging his sword.
"Die!"
He swung at Arthas, but the attack was easily blocked.
"What… I didn't hear you."
Arthas's finger lightly touched the blade. The enraged man felt a chilling cold; his mind cleared.
The onlookers gasped; the man wasn't strong, but stopping his attack with a finger was incredible.
Is this unremarkable boy Level 2?
They wondered; Arthas smiled faintly at the stunned adventurer.
He wasn't strong enough to stop a sword strike with a finger; his physical abilities were still average.
But weakness didn't mean he couldn't do things.
Magic wasn't a child's toy; used correctly, it could do the impossible.
He'd infused his fingertip with frost, instantly freezing the speed and force of the attack. To onlookers, it looked like he'd stopped the sword with a finger. But Arthas felt the sword lightly touch his finger.
The impact and force… were zero.
It looked incredibly cool. Liliruca, behind Arthas, was stunned.
My control needs work.
The adventurer wasn't stunned; he was frozen, looking ridiculous. Arthas had retracted his mana quickly, but not fast enough.
My control needs improvement. When I can control my power like Riveria, I'll be ready.
"Let's go to the Dungeon."
Ignoring Liliruca's stunned expression, Arthas said softly. She quickly recovered and followed.
"Call him a doctor. Don't let him die and blame me."
Arthas said to the onlookers, who noticed the frozen adventurer.
He wasn't stunned; he was frozen solid.
