LIANA'S POV
I stared at him. "What?"
"You heard me. I need to know if what you're saying is true. If you're really willing to do anything." He stood and walked to another part of the room, retrieving a second dagger. "Attempt to kill me, and do a good job, because I'm going to do the same thing, and I don't intend to hold back."
I held the dagger like it might bite me. "I don't understand."
"You had a head start, and I'm not already begging for my life." He turned to face me, his own blade held casually at his side. "Pathetic mistake."
Then he charged.
I had never moved so fast in my life. Pure instinct took over, and I threw myself to the side just as his blade whistled through the air where my head had been. I rolled across the floor, coming up in a crouch with my dagger held out in front of me.
