[Kamimura Household, Western-style Villa's Third Floor, a Dim Room.]
Firelight flickered, the gloomy light reflected a maid's delicate and smooth face.
She held a feather duster, cautiously dusting the bookshelf.
Not far behind her, beside the desk, a boy about seven or eight years old was holding a medical book, reading with great interest.
Kamimura Yusuke, the only child of the Kamimura family head, loved by all the elders in the family.
Even so, he didn't become arrogant from the favoritism, instead treated people politely and kindly. Those who had met him, all praised him.
Ryouko had been working as a maid in the Kamimura household for four years. It could be said that Kamimura Yusuke was someone she watched grow up.
The young master was still as polite and kind as before, treating the servants well, but...
Ryouko's hand slightly trembled, and from the corner of her eye, she glanced toward Kamimura Yusuke.
She didn't know from when it started, but whenever she was alone with the young master, that kind of gloomy atmosphere always made her a little afraid.
'When was it? It seems like it was after the young master got that strange illness.'
'Such a good person got a skin disease, unable to see sunlight, how pitiful.'
Ryouko's gentle eyes carried sympathy, as she looked deeply at Kamimura Yusuke.
Kamimura Yusuke slowly raised his forehead, and a pair of scarlet eyes like a beast's, under the dim indoor light, reflected in Ryouko's pupils.
In that moment, she felt like she was being stared at by a monster, her whole body went cold.
"Ah!"
With a startled cry, distracted, she accidentally knocked over the vase placed beside her. The vase shattered all over the floor.
She hurriedly squatted down, picking up the broken pieces of the vase, her large eyes already brimming with tears.
This vase was a high-end item bought from the East. According to the master, it was a precious piece of Jingdezhen porcelain.
The expensive price wasn't something a maid's salary could cover. What should she do now?
Just as she was distressed, Kamimura Yusuke walked over, and in a tender voice asked, "Sister Ryouko, are you okay?"
Ryouko lowered her head, biting her lip, trying hard not to let her tears fall, "Young master, I'm sorry. I'll clean it up right away."
Kamimura Yusuke smiled warmly, "It's okay. But you, Sister Ryouko, you didn't get cut by the porcelain, did you?"
Ryouko nodded, and in her large eyes, there was only the figure of Kamimura Yusuke.
Those pitch-black eyes carried a gentle light, what a good young master. It's just a pity she wouldn't have the chance to serve him anymore.
As a maid, being so clumsy, it could be said that her career was over.
Seeming to have seen through the maid's worry, Kamimura Yusuke smiled gently and said, "I'll tell father it was me who accidentally broke the vase. Sister Ryouko, don't worry."
"But, young master…"
"Enough."
In an unmistakable tone, Kamimura Yusuke cut her off.
In that instant, Ryouko was a bit stunned, but the next second, Kamimura Yusuke's familiar smile reappeared.
After Kamimura Yusuke issued the order to leave, she woodenly left the study.
At the moment the door closed, the boy's smile completely vanished, and his pitch-black pupils turned scarlet.
"That idiot!"
If it were before, that kind of woman would've died long ago. But now, he didn't dare to act rashly, didn't even dare to fire her and replace her with a more obedient maid.
"All thanks to you! Jotaro!"
Kamimura Yusuke gritted his teeth until they creaked.
It was all because of that beast Jotaro that he had done so many things he would never have done before.
Originally, he had wanted to mimic a child's appearance and be adopted by a businessman. But doing that would mean a new person appeared out of thin air in the world.
Jotaro's intellect was truly frightening, he wouldn't overlook even the smallest clue.
So, for safety, he gave up that plan, and chose to eat Kamimura Yusuke, and imitate his appearance. To not reveal any flaws, he read the memories of the other party before death.
After understanding how the other dealt with people and handled things, he followed that exact style in everything.
Pretending to be a seven- or eight-year-old child was really hard for him. But to evade Jotaro, it was all worth it.
He had already decided, before Jotaro dies, he would live on using this identity.
A gloomy laugh echoed in the dark study. Kamimura Yusuke sneered coldly, "Though very humiliating, the results have been quite good."
"That bastard Jotaro thinks I fled abroad, then I shall go along with your wish."
The Twelve Demon Moons, under his orders, all headed abroad to create demons and stir human society into chaos.
"According to recent intel, the Demon Slayer Corps has already started transferring personnel abroad."
Kamimura Yusuke's smile grew even wider. He exhaled and said comfortably, "They even dispatched all the Hashiras. You've been fooled, Jotaro!"
"Without these annoying flies, I can just take this chance to integrate the domestic medical resources and make them serve me."
He clenched his fists, his face flushed, appearing a little excited.
"Just give it a few more years, and this world will be mine again!"
———
"Have you ever attended this kind of high-end banquet?"
Yuko sized up Shinobu, who was dressed in a kimono, and sneered, "Nowadays everyone wears suits. Who still wears this outdated stuff?"
She glanced at the faintly exposed snow-white cleavage on Yuko's low-cut dress. Shinobu's face reddened, "None of your business!"
Yuko teased, "You're afraid your figure can't pull it off, right? Wearing that, you look like a village woman. At the banquet, no man will invite you to dance."
Shinobu said coldly, "Why must I dance with them?"
Yuko said, "Dancing is how they socialize."
Shinobu couldn't be bothered to deal with this woman. She was here to kill demons, not to socialize.
"From what I observed, Jotaro doesn't seem like a pure-blood Japanese. His eyes and facial structure are similar to Westerners I've seen before."
Yuko twisted her waist, walked to Shinobu with a smile, and said, "Social dancing came from the West to Japan. Jotaro, who has Western blood, out of courtesy, might not refuse invitations from other women at the banquet."
Seeing Shinobu's darkened expression, she spoke even more gleefully.
"Those attending this banquet are all prominent figures. From what I know, most of their daughters are of marrying age."
"An outstanding man like Jotaro will naturally become the favored partner of these women."
Shinobu said confusedly, "Why are you telling me this?"
Yuko's lips curled into a smile. She leaned close to Shinobu's ear and whispered, "Do you like Jotaro?"
Shinobu blushed and stammered, "Y-you… what nonsense are you talking about!"
Watching Shinobu storm off angrily, Yuko touched her chin, blinked, and muttered, "This girl isn't a love-struck fool, is she?"
"She looks so mature when handling things…" She shook her head and followed.
