"So...you want to sit with us, all because we don't care about your status and beauty? We actually see you as a person, and not as a thing to own? Am I getting this right?" Samara asked, pinching the short hairs underneath his sharp chin, and narrowed his eyes.
Srian blinked a couple of times at the sheepish look on the face of Suhania—the strict and iceberg of a girl, whose beauty could melt glaciers yet her attitude would freeze them back again, such a girl was asking permission to be with them. To be a part of their two-men group.
"Hmm, yes that's what I said." Suhania confirmed with a quick nod, and Samara couldn't help but let a small smile break out at the absurdity of this situation, he and Srian were in.
While Srian continued to stare at her with a dumbfounded expression, trying to come to terms with the image he had made of her in his mind, to the reality he was viewing right in front of him. Samara saw this, and with a pat to the shoulders, broke his best bud out of his trance. "Dude, snap out of it. The lady is feeling uncomfortable." He told her with a shook of his head, and an amused upwards tug of his lips.
"Sorry." Srian quickly said, and pinched his forehead lightly, before continuing. " You know what? I am not even going to question it. Reality is far more stranger than fiction. You can sit with us.... But, the moment anyone tries to come and join us here, either we will bolt or you will go away with them. Understand?"
At the deal, Suhania nodded and Srian let out a breath, which he didn't even know he was holding in. Samara just stayed silent with a small smile, gazing at the spectacle in front of him.
He didn't have anything to offer in this conversation and hence he just gazed, taking in the breeze caressing his skin and leaned back against the thick bark. Underneath the shade, he was protected, just like how his parents seemed to shield him from the arrows of reality.
Samara closed his eyes as Srian and Suhania continued to converse with each other, he wasn't interested in their conversation and started to doze off. No dreams, only memories greeted the slumbering boy with pain instead of peace....
Flashes of betrayals and taunts all surrounded him, and the noose tightened steadily, with a snap his eyes opened yet he controlled himself before he could release any sounds.
"Deep breaths, deep breaths. Pain must never be shown in front of any. No matter how close." He reminded himself, as he wiped some stray droplets that seemed to stick with his forehead, and again took a deep breath. "Pain and weakness allows one to put a leash over you. Even your close ones will not spare you, if they see your weakness."
Turning his gaze towards Srian and Suhania, he saw they were actually hitting it off, his normally shy friend was actually talking with a girl properly! "Good for him." Samara thought with an arched brow, and he took a deep breath, thanking the lord above that no one had seen him sweat or snap out of his slumber in such a motion.
With silence as his companion, he got up and patted his pants, to walk somewhere else to calm himself down a bit. Alongside that, he didn't want to interfere between the two, no matter how close he was to Srian.
Samara started to walk away from them, they didn't even notice him leave as they were far too engrossed in their conversation, with Srian having a little blush while Suhania continued to have that stoic look, except she had a small smile too, almost as if she was enjoying his presence just like he was enjoying her presence.
"They would be a good pair. The shy yet intelligent boy and the ice-queen with a fierce presence." Samara thought with amusement, giving them a final glance, and walking away. His long strides carried him away from the groups huddled around the tree and went back to the same bench he was sitting upon, before Srian decided to drag him away, the one near the pond with those aquatic creatures.
He didn't know why, but he enjoyed the sight, it felt empowering for him. Sitting down upon the bench, he crossed one leg over the another, and leaned forward to gaze at the fishes. Placing his elbows upon his knees and his fist placed underneath his chin.
The fishes danced in groups, as he continued to gaze and he felt as if he was god! Looking at mortals above from his throne. Right, that's why it felt so empowering, he might have a god complex. Maybe.
Or he could just be bored. Who knows? Even he didn't understand his thoughts. He was too unpredictable.
As Samara continued gazing at unique activities of the creatures, he suddenly felt a presence beside him on the bench, and he snapped out of his concentration. Turning his gaze to see the one beside him.
"Rachel, what are you doing here?" He asked with surprise clear from his tone, as he arched one of his brows and tilted his head a bit with narrowed gaze. He knew her. They had talked a few times, but never that much, she was always stuck with her friends. Always the apple of the teachers' eyes.
Bright, confident, and a charming personality. The queen bee as one might say. So why was she suddenly here? He didn't want to leave this place too. Samara hated having conversations with other people unless absolutely necessary, thus he was ready to move away.
But then he saw, she had came alone and was smiling just like always, thank the heavens. At the very least, there wasn't her usual fan-following around. He could manage this.... Yeah, it was just one person.
"Nothing, just enjoying the peace, like you." She told her, as a smile emerged on her pinkish countenance with freckles on her red cheeks, and eye that seemed to resemble the sea. All of it contributed in making her seem exotic and beautiful, along with her lean figure, that had developed some muscles due to her regular sessions in the gym. "Heard about the fight, knew you would dominate him easily, but you seem to lack your glasses."
At her words, Samara blinked and touched his face, her words were indeed true. His specs were missing. "Fuck. It must have fell during the fight." Samara thought with a groan, as his right eye twitched and he pinched his eyelids. Thank the heavens, at least he could still see without them, it was mostly worn for style and to protect his eyes from glaring lights.
He had some kind of an issue with computer screens, and other types of extreme lights coming from various sources. He never knew the exact reason. Samara's parents knew better about that.
"It seems I do. Oh well, I will get a new one. Just hope that I don't get scolded by my parents." Samara told her with a shrug, and a stoic tone, leaning back against the public bench with a soft sigh.
He did say the words casually but he knew, at the current moment getting new specs would take some days, due to the issues. Financial issues.
Fuck.
Rachel chuckled as she mimicked him and leaned back against the public bench, turning his gaze towards him with a smile that seemingly widened an inch. "You're amusing, you know that?"
"No I didn't, thanks for the information, now shove it.... Control yourself Samara. Control. Let me be in bloody peace, which only silence brings!!" Samara thought, but he just had a stoic expression on his face and his gaze remained upon the aquatic creatures, while simultaneously giving her a nod.
