Simon and Lisa spend their days together. They gone off to skiing and snowboarding. All the while they are together, Lisa is bother with what she over heard the other day. She doesn't know how to talk to Simon. While Simon is finding the correct timing to ask her to marry him for real.
The last day of the year, they stand together and watch the night sky. The restaurant which is famous for having a nice visible sight of the night sky is pack with people. They did not talk much but enjoy the scenery and the food. Finally the countdown for the new year is coming. Everyone is counting loudly and they are smiling wide. Looking at each other, in Lisa's mind, it is the final year together. Next year end, they can divorce and live their own lives. He can persuade the woman he love and marry her. While she can continue to do what she is comfortable with her life. Then the clock strikes at mid night, everyone celebrate with each other. Strangers saying the best joyful words to one and another. Lisa and Simon drown in the sound and joy of happiness. The time is approaching and he is digging into his pocket when he see his mobile is flashing. He try to ignore it but in the end he pick it up.
They drive all night back to the city. He wanted to drop Lisa back at the apartment but she insist to follow him. He drives straight to the hospital. His mother is admitted into the ward for her heart is not working well. She open her eyes to see her son sleeping with his arms cross on her bed. She touch his hair. He did not move but Lisa who is on the sofa wakes up. She hurry put to get the nurse and doctor. Outside the Her secretary Mr Lim wakes up and walk in to see the chairlady is wake. He smile and they nod their heads. Simon only wake up with the doctor walks in with the nurse with Lisa behind. The doctor privately told the couple that their mother is suffering from a mild heart attack. Now it is not that serious but it will get worst over time. She cannot suffer from any stress and bad news of any sort. Resting and happiness will slowly dow the problems that she is suffering from. The young couple who hear this, the heart sink
That night they each return to their own apartments. Watching the sun rise, they have to prepare to go to work. Meeting at the carpark, Simon drive to work. He look at Lisa and wonder if he should say about them getting marry for real but yet he did not want her to say yes because of his mother. He want her to really want and love him from her heart. While Lisa is thinking that getting a divorce now is a death sentence to her nice mother-in-law. Thus both of them keep silence as they drive to work.
In his office, he is busy with the new projects that are coming up soon. They have to bid for it in the best possible. Thus the whole morning, the meeting with the business development team is long and tiring. By the time he walk back to his office, he is drain. He slump on his chair and look outside the window. He called Mr Lim to find out the condition of his mother. Occasionally he look into the chat message there is nothing from Lisa. He tells himself she must be busy at work. It's the first day of work after all. Lisa meanwhile is not really working, she is staring outside her window looking at the fallen snow. The department is not busy now. Till the project is confirm, then they will start getting the work load. For now they are reading the online. She message her father about her mother-in-law. He said he will visit her today in the hospital. She wonder what will they talk about.
That evening, after work they goes to the hospital together. Chairlady is delighted to see them.
"My son, have you done what i have ask you to do?"
"Do... "
"See you forgotten again."
"Is it about the wedding photograph mother?"
"See! Having a daughter is better than having you! She can remember and you .."
She touch her chest and wince in pain. Simon hurry to get the nurse. While Lisa try to calm her down. After the nurse gives her some medicine, she advice the couple don't make her upset again. They watch the nurse walk out.
"Sorry mother. I am wait for the summer to come ..."
"Wei Long, i am trusting you to do a good job on this."
"Yes mother. I will. I just ... slip my mind. "
"Mother, I won't let him forget. Tomorrow we will book a studio and i will message you, alright."
Chairlady smile and pat Lisa's hand. She frown at Simon and mumble in her breath.
The second day at work, Lisa look around for available photo studios. However it seems mostly are available after August. She wonder if it too late for them. They agree to divorce by end of December. Taking a wedding photo around that time is useless. She sigh and continues to search. Since the new regulation of not going to his office set in motion, she has gone up there for awhile. She did not want to get into trouble with Manager Gan. Thus she spend a lot of time messaging him that day. Upstairs, his mobile constantly buzzing while talking to his staff. Manager Gan notice the incoming messages are from a person name 'cutie' She starts to feel annoyed. She cannot concentrate and keep going against the ideal from everyone in the meeting. So when it ended, she stay back.
"What is it manager Gan?"
"Your phone is annoying."
"I did not set any ringing tone. So how did it annoy you?"
"I am sensitive to it."
"Quit being so ... are you on that time of the month? Then i will excuse you for the crankiness you are displaying now. You can leave my office and go back to your own."
"Wei Long, you know very well how my character. When i don't like something, i will say it."
"Well thank you for that. Now Manager Gan you can go back downstairs."
"Why are you always like this?!"
Simon walk back to his desk and ignore her. She cross her arms and look at him.
"You are ..."
"Look manager Gan. What i do got nothing to do with you. Likewise whatever you want to do is none of my business."
"Now can you say that. It's so easy coming out from your mouth."
Simon pick up his coat and walk to Peter's desk.
"I am going out for awhile."
"Need me to drive you?"
"No. Just for a short while. Make sure my office is untouched and that lady is back in her office when i return."
Simon get into the lift and watch as the door close. Manger Gan staring at him.
