Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: Who is the Most Handsome Man in Solaris?

"Beep beep beep…"

As time passed, the examination finally concluded.

After being pushed into the examination pod, Lucian felt as though he had taken a nap—one completely devoid of dreams.

Lucian yawned and stretched. "Haven't slept this well in a long time…"

"The test results are out," Baizhi said, holding two reports in her hand.

"Let me see!"

As everyone knows, humans are always curious about their own bodies, and Lucian was no exception.

The first report bore a large heading:

[Spectrum Analysis Report RA2333-G]

[Resonance History: One day. No special triggers detected. Awakening occurred naturally.]

[Subject's Tacet Mark is located on the back. No significant physiological changes observed post-resonance.]

[Warning! Subject possesses two resonance attributes and can utilize both at will. Possesses immense research value.]

[No definitive cause for dual resonance abilities has been identified yet.]

[Resonance frequency exhibits extreme commonality! Overlaps with dozens of resonance spectrum charts at approximately 95% similarity!]

[Subject's Raber Curve shows stable upward progression, eventually stabilizing. Conclusion: Natural-type Resonator.]

"…This…"

Baizhi suddenly looked at Lucian. "You've mastered two resonance abilities?"

Beside her, the red-haired researcher Mortefi grabbed Lucian's shoulders, preventing him from escaping easily.

Lucian chuckled awkwardly. "Is that rare?"

Baizhi stared at his face. "Extremely rare. Almost unheard of."

Mortefi, standing behind him, added, "Actually, there have been cases before. Don't you remember that one—"

"Mortefi!" Baizhi cut him off.

She glanced at Lucian again before shifting her attention to the second report.

[Overclock Diagnosis Report]

[Subject's Raber waveform remains constant in the time domain. Waveform and fluctuation standards are completely consistent with no abnormal tendencies. Conclusion: Normal stage.]

[Current overclock threshold is extremely high. Stability is extremely high. Overclock probability is extremely low. No overclock risk detected.]

[No prior history of overclocking.]

[Given the subject's unique condition, regular examinations are recommended.]

Baizhi murmured, "This is too strange…"

Theoretically, every Resonator should only possess one resonance attribute.

Even if someone like Lucian developed two resonance attributes, they shouldn't remain this stable.

Baizhi fell silent, unsure how to handle Lucian.

Deep down, she wanted to keep him at the research institute for continuous study.

But Sanhua was watching closely from the side.

Moreover, Lucian himself would never agree to being studied like a lab rat every day.

And the research institute didn't have the authority to enforce such a thing anyway.

Sanhua, recognizing Lucian's uniqueness, contemplated briefly before making the final decision.

"In that case, Lucian must undergo a monthly examination."

"The rest of the time, he can move freely. After all, the report states he has no risk of overclocking."

Baizhi sighed. "That's the only way."

Lucian also let out a sigh of relief. He had no desire to be cooped up in the research institute every day, subjected to strange experiments.

That kind of thing—absolutely not!

Still, it wasn't so bad. He only had to come in for a check-up once a month. With the system on his side, he wasn't worried about them uncovering anything.

[Ding! Option 1: "Agree to Sanhua's terms—undergo examinations at Huaxu Academy and submit reports" has been completed!]

[Reward obtained: Strange Glasses]

[Strange Glasses: In this world, some people cannot see reality clearly for various reasons. These glasses can help them!]

"Huh?"

Cannot see reality clearly?

Lucian took out the glasses and found they looked no different from ordinary sunglasses.

He placed the Strange Glasses on the bridge of his nose.

"Tsk—"

Lucian sucked in a sharp breath.

"What's the difference between these and normal sunglasses!?"

The system was furious.

[If you can already see clearly, why would you need these!?]

Lucian was equally indignant. "If I can already see clearly, why did you give me this as a reward!?"

[If you don't want them, give them to someone who needs them!]

"Someone who needs them?"

Lucian paused, then glanced at the aloof Sanhua standing nearby.

Suddenly, he understood.

As they walked out of the research institute side by side, he spoke to her sheepishly:

"Hua, actually, there's something I want to give you."

Sanhua was slightly exasperated. "Why do you call me that?"

"What do you want to give me?"

Lucian handed her the sunglasses.

"This is… a pair of sunglasses? Why give me this?"

Lucian smiled mysteriously. "Just try them on."

Sanhua put them on, her aura shifting from that of a cool, composed beauty to a stylish, badass one.

She adjusted the glasses and looked at Lucian. "What's supposed to be different?"

"Huh? No effect?"

Lucian was puzzled, but then it dawned on him. "Don't look at me—look at the people around us."

If Sanhua claimed that Lucian's frequency matched the world's natural state, then what she saw in him shouldn't differ from what others saw. But the passersby… that was another story.

Sanhua turned her gaze toward the citizens of Jinzhou in the distance.

Then, her lips parted slightly in shock.

"This is…"

Lucian knew it had worked. He grinned. "Well? Can you see now?"

Sanhua didn't answer. She kept looking at every person who walked by, occasionally removing the glasses to compare.

After a moment, she took a deep breath.

Her voice trembled slightly. "Where… did you get this?"

Then, hesitantly, she asked, "Are you really giving this to me?"

In truth, her "sightlessness" wasn't literal blindness—it was that the world she saw was different from what normal people perceived.

She saw the world in frequencies. Only those like Jinhsi, Rover, or Lucian—beings whose existence aligned with the world's natural state—appeared no different to her than they did to others.

But these Strange Glasses allowed her to see the world as it truly was—just like any normal person.

"Of course. Consider it thanks for protecting us in secret all this time."

"…Thank you."

Lucian patted his chest and laughed. "No need! Just treat me to some Jinzhou stew a few times!"

"…Mhm."

Sanhua took a moment to steady herself. "That… I need to report today's findings. I'll head back to City Hall first…"

Without giving Lucian a chance to respond, she hurried away, her steps uncharacteristically flustered.

"Eh?"

Lucian blinked, then grumbled, "How cold. You're just going to put on the glasses and walk away?"

At least raise my affection level by 80 or 90 points before leaving!

He had even hoped to unlock another resonance ability today.

Is my face not attractive enough?

Lucian took out the Mirror of Inquiry.

"Mirror, mirror, tell me—who is the most handsome man in Solaris?"

Blue letters slowly surfaced on the mirror's glass.

"Naturally, it is you, my beloved master."

Lucian nodded in satisfaction. "As expected of a mirror that only speaks the truth!"

[System: …]

...

Deep within City Hall.

Hearing movement, Chief Counselor Changli strode out on her long, black-stockinged legs.

"Sanhua?"

Changli tilted her head. "Why are you wearing sunglasses today?"

When she received no reply, she noticed tears streaming down Sanhua's face.

Changli froze.

"You… why are you crying?"
