The next morning, Jayvaughn arrived at Draxler Corporation earlier than usual. As he walked into the gleaming lobby, the familiar sound of polished shoes clicking on marble echoed beneath him. Every employee who saw him bowed slightly or offered a polite greeting.
"Good morning, CEO."
"Good morning, Mr. Draxler."
His personal assistant walked briskly behind him, hands full of a tablet and reports for the morning meeting. Jayvaughn gave a slight nod to each greeting but didn't slow his steps. He was focused.
Once inside his private elevator, he pressed the button to his floor. His secretary was already standing at her desk near the executive office, waiting with a pleasant smile.
"Good morning, Mr. Draxler," she said.
Jayvaughn nodded again, walking toward his office.
Just as he reached the door, her voice stopped him.
"Wait, Mr. Draxler!"
He turned around slowly, one brow raised, clearly asking without words: Why are you stopping me?
