Xie Yang finished the extravagant spread of breakfast in 20 minutes, much to the stall owner's amazement. He also asked the stall owner to pack his exact order but tone down the spice.
The stall owner, delighted by the big purchase, decided to throw in an extra baozi and some youtiao, making Xie Yang satisfied with his purchase as well.
Xie Yang was about to whip out his husband's card when Leo reminded him that street vendors only accept cash now so he paid using his own money and made his way to school.
He honestly didn't mind using his money but this reminded him, that he needed to get some cash from the ATM. Hmmm. He should also invite his husband. You Know, for support.
"Support what? The heavy bag full of his money that you'll be using? Just be truthful and say that you're too lazy to go alone."
"It's not about me being lazy but rather about me being clingy."
Leo made a disgusted face before increasing the distance between them. He really couldn't stand this love-brained idiot.
Xie Yang didn't mind and leisurely walked to school. He thought about walking faster, but he felt another expectation growing in his heart, so he slowed his pace to a crawl. Even angering Leo into yelling at him to move faster which he conveniently tuned out.
And sure enough, his husband never disappointed him!
Xie Yang saw Zhou Kai standing in front of the school gate, watching passersby as if trying to find someone. His eyes met with Xie Yang's and they lit up like the brightest night sky. It looked as if a part of a star cluster suddenly broke and dropped into his eyes mixing with the obsidian to create the most beautiful night sky.
Xie Yang returned his smile and jogged over to his husband. He threw himself in his arms and gave him a tight hug trying to fulfill his longing.
Zhou Kai was surprised for a second but he quickly returned the hug with equal enthusiasm maybe even more than that.
After hugging for a few seconds, Xie Yang reluctantly let go and raised his arms to show him the bags full of food.
"I hope you're hungry since I got a lot for you." Xie Yang said with a bright smile.
Zhou Kai almost forgot to breathe at the sight of that bright smile but regained his senses when he felt his beloved tug at his hand and drag him inside the school.
Zhou Kai steadied himself and squeezed his beloved's hand before taking the food packet from him. The food packet was pretty heavy and smelled even more heavenly than it looked in the pics.
Xie Yang smiled at the gesture and led them to a secluded area of the school park. Surrounded by greenery and summer flowers with the sun shining down, it looked like the perfect place for a picnic.
Xie Yang sat down on the grass under a tree shade and patted the ground next to him which was quickly occupied by Zhou Kai. He started taking the food out of their to-go containers and arranging them in front of Kai.
Soon, the same breakfast spread as in Xie Yang's text messages was spread out in front of them. Zhou Kai also had the foresight to bring other snacks and juices for his sweetheart which earned him a bout of praise.
Xie Yang leaned against the tree, drinking lychee juice as he watched his husband eat the breakfast he got for him. Zhou Kai, having been raised in a traditional wealthy family had impeccable table manners (despite the lack of a table).
He ate at just the right speed elegantly and gracefully almost turning it into a show one could watch for hours.
Xie Yang sighed in his heart, 'Handsome men can heal all hurt.'
Leo sharing a connection with Xie Yang heard his inner thoughts and immediately turned off the connection and walked far away.
Oh by the way, Xie Yang and Leo share a connection because of which they can converse in Xie Yang's mind. Xie Yang can initiate the connection but he can't cancel it while Leo can both initiate and cancel the connection.
This was a lifesaver for Leo since he couldn't stand being with the love-brained Xie Yang but can still communicate with him during emergencies or when he's normal Xie Yang.
Xie Yang felt the connection between him and Leo break and he couldn't help laughing. Zhou Kai paused mid-bite and looked over at his sweetheart asking with his eyes, 'What's up?'
"Nothing, you continue eating. Gosh did anyone ever tell you, you look handsome while eating?" Xie Yang took the opportunity to flirt with his husband.
Zhou Kai felt his ears heat up as he saw the growing grin on his beloved.
What's up with his sweetheart these days?! He's gotten too good at tempting people!! What is he gonna do if I take the bait?!
Zhou Kai increased his eating speed without replying to hide his embarrassment tickling Xie Yang into laughter once more.
Zhou Kai looked at the happy Xie Yang and felt his heart melt. Fine, whatever who cares if it's embarrassing as long as it makes his beloved happy? Humph! For that smile, he's even willing to become a clown let alone a slight embarrassment!
Zhou Kai quickly finished his meal and accompanied Xie Yang to drink juice. Xie Yang got up from his leaning position and gestured for Kai to lean while he leaned on his body in an intimate pose.
Zhou Kai relaxed his posture and shifted to a more comfortable position for his sweetheart and slyly put his hand on his waist, hugging it securely.
Xie Yang allowed his cheeky actions and sunk into the embrace, nuzzling his head with his hand resting comfortably on his husband's thigh.
Zhou Kai had noticed his beloved's eye bags but hadn't gotten a chance to ask him about it. Now that, he saw his sweetheart resting on his shoulders, he decided to ask.
"What's wrong pres? Didn't sleep well?"
Xie Yang didn't reply for a second, too immersed in the comfort and too tired from last night. It took him a good minute to process what his husband had said, to which he hummed in response.
Seeing how sleepy he was, Zhou Kai didn't ask any more questions and let him get some shuteye. Although he loved their current proximity he'd much rather take Xie Yang to the infirmary to sleep more comfortably.
Unfortunately, there are only 40 minutes left until their classes start and the infirmary is on the opposite of their current position. Just going there would take them 20 minutes, not to mention dealing with the nurse, getting applications would easily cut into their first period.
'It's better to let him rest for half an hour and get to class just in the nick of time.' Zhou Kai thought as he gently kneaded Xie Yang's back to prevent backaches from their position.
Zhou Kai used his other hand to gently touch his eye bags. Even though the eye bags were concerning to him, he couldn't help marveling at how good his sweetheart looked with them.
Ahem. He needed to focus on serious matters rather than fanboying, for example, what disrupted his beloved's sleep last night.
Zhou Kai narrowed his eyes. He had a hunch it was that no good family of his. Though he sincerely hoped it wasn't the case. After all, he can be as cruel as he wants to strange bullies but he can't deal with his beloved's family without directly affecting him.
Zhou Kai felt his mood drop. He turned his attention to his peacefully resting sweetheart and couldn't help pinching his soft cheeks while lamenting his useless family. God, he really couldn't wait for the day he becomes sweetheart's family and show him how a family acts.
Zhou Kai was unaware that he had already given his beloved the love he deserved in a previous life although even if he did he would just say that just one life isn't enough to show his love, he wants to be together in every life.
