"Okay. If that's what both of you say," Alice said, shrugging her shoulders.
"Lee, are you going to the next class?" Alice asked, turning to him.
"I have this really huge family emergency to deal with, so I'm sorry, but I won't be available."
"Huge family emergency, huh."
"Yes. My mother's side of the family. You wouldn't know them since you're on my father's side."
"Okay. We'll get going then," she said, pulling Nora along.
"You will still wash my shirt, Nora," he mouthed at her.
"Not a chance in hell," she mouthed back.
"Prick," she mouthed again.
And so, Nora and Alice went to class together.
"Are you sure he hasn't been acting weirder than usual?" Alice asked Nora.
"I don't think he has. He always acts like that," she answered hurriedly.
"Are you okay? Your cheeks are crimson."
"Phew. This cold. I must be coming down with the flu," she said, rubbing her palms together and putting them on her arms.
"We're in July. It is anything but cold right now."
