"Oh my god, Gwen check out this top it's so cute!" Liz exclaimed as she spun around holding out the strip of black fabric distressed with holes and fraying that somehow increased its value, "And it doesn't have any color so you can't say no to it."
Gwen rolled her eyes as she pushed the piece of clothing to the side, "It may not have color, but it also barely has fabric, which defeats the main purpose of clothing!"
"Please for my sake could you just show off your body a little bit!" Liz begged, "You try and hide it but I've seen you change in the looker room and I know you have a great body. Seriously what is your leg routine, you have to tell me, your butt is so perky."
Gwen sighed, "Trust me you don't want to know, also why are you making it seem like you're some hideous troll? You're literally dating the most popular guy in school."
"Just between the two of us that's not nearly as much of a compliment as you think it is," Liz muttered with a frustrated sigh, "I had to lie about Harry taking us shopping because I know Flash would make a big fuss about it."
"Ooh, are we talking about how Liz's man ain't shit?" Betty asked as she walked within earshot, MJ following close behind her. Both of them had arms laden with clothes, far too many for three people, including Liz.
Liz whirled around staring Betty down with faux anger, "I told you to stop saying that!"
"Because you know she's right," MJ replied matter of factly, "Seriously don't spend the rest of senior year with that douchebag, he'll only get more controlling."
"Okay he has some flaws, but it's not like he's beating me up," Liz said defensively as she found herself boxed in on all sides but judgemental looks.
"Alright, but tell us...is the sex even that good?" Betty asked with a poignant look which was quickly replicated by MJ and Gwen.
Liz hesitated for a moment which was all the answer that her friends needed and they all reacted with disappointed sighs and slowly shaking their heads.
"All of you can go jump in a ditch and die," Liz muttered only for Betty to dump a pile of clothes into her arms, "Sorry but not before we try on all of these clothes. Harry already reserved us the largest changing room in this place and they're bringing us macaroons in a few minutes."
"Macaroons?" MJ asked with a raised eyebrow, "I didn't know malls came with in-house food delivery."
Betty grinned and replied in a sing-song voice, "It does when your dad is a major stakeholder."
"Now that's a boyfriend," MJ said pointedly earning her a threatening glare from Liz.
Shaking her head at her friend's antics Gwen shoved her hands into her pockets, "Well you all have fun with that, I'm gonna try and see if there's a hot topic in this place."
Gwen went to turn around only for three hands to grab onto her hoody and drag her further into the store, "Oh no you don't, me and MJ picked out a few things for you to try and you're not leaving until you try on every last one."
Gwen opened her mouth to protest only to sag as she realized there was no winning against the collective effort of her three determined friends, "Alright fine! Now can you stop pulling on my hoodie, I can walk on my own!"
"Don't trust her it's just a ruse," Betty insisted, "Remember when we tried to paint her nails!"
"That was only because you guys insisted on the glittery nail polish!" Gwen countered, "And that was Freshman year."
"And yet we still have to drag you kicking and screaming, just to try on some clothes," Liz chastised.
"They're not just some clothes, they're clothes you guys picked out," Gwen specified, "Which means I'm going to have more skin showing than covered."
"Uh duh, that's the point," Betty replied with a roll of her eyes, "Now stop dragging your feet, and lets-"
"LIZ!"
All the girls paused and, as one, looked over at the front of the store, where the embodiment of roid rage stood, his hair shaved down to a buzz cut and a variety jacket draped around his shoulders.
"Fuck," Liz hissed under her breath as her boyfriend Flash, stormed towards them his face flush and contorted into a mask of rage.
"I thought you said you were going to some spa with your mom?" Flash asked, his voice barely below an outright roar, "And to think I almost didn't believe one of my boys when he said he saw you here!"
"Please don't scream," Liz pleaded as she looked around nervously as more eyes started to wander over, "Look I'm sorry about lying, but can we please talk about this later."
"No we're talking about this now, and I won't lower my voice! Now where is he, I know some asshole drove you here! Is he buying you all those clothes?" Flash shot out a barrage of questions as he took a menacing step forward, "Are you fucking him? Is he your little sugar daddy?!"
Liz's face grew red with a mixture of embarrassment and anger as Flash blatantly accused her of cheating, "Stop now Flash before you say something that I can't forgive."
"Can't forgive? Christ Liz, he just called you a slut to your face!" Betty interjected looking at her friends as she had grown a second head, "Dump his worthless ass already."
Flash's burning gaze landed on Betty who didn't even flinch and stared right back at the star quarterback, "I bet you're the one who roped Liz into all of this mess! Don't you ever shut your fucking mouth?!"
"Rarely and definitely not for your bum ass," Betty snapped back.
Flash snarled, "Well, I'm not the one spreading my legs for some fucking stranger just so he'll buy me shit."
Betty grinned like the cat who caught the canary, "Just to set the record straight he isn't a stranger he's my man, and trust me he doesn't have to pay a cent to get in my pants. Hell, I should probably be the only one buying him shit."
Flash snorted, "Whatever, come on Liz I'm taking you home!"
"What no?!" Liz objected as she took a step back and Gwen stepped in front of her staring Flash down, "She's not going with man, just turn around and leave. Take some time and cool the fuck off."
Flash stared at Gwen enraged that someone was challenging him physically, "Get the fuck out of my way before I make you."
"Hm, I'd like to see you try," Gwen replied not backing down instead, raising her fists and preparing to fight.
"Don't think just you're some chick I won't drop your goth ass!" Flash threatened as he cocked back his fist.
"Flash don't!" Liz screamed but the football star either didn't hear her or didn't care as his shoulders shifted.
Gwen watched in slow motion as Flash's fist shot forward and her danger sense flared, however before she could react there was a blur of motion behind Flash one that not even Gwen's eyes could track.
Flash let out a grunt of surprise when his punch was suddenly stopped by a vice-like grip that clamped down painfully on his elbow.
"Hm, and I thought Betty was exaggerating when she told me how much of a piece of shit you were,"
Flash looked behind him and found a frustratingly handsome face with two piercing amber eyes that stared back at him coldly, "You're him aren't you, the son of a bitch who thought he could just take my girl?!"
Flash tried to pull his arm away only to find that Harry's grip wouldn't budge in the slightest and then Harry started to squeeze, "The only thing I did was take her shopping."
Flash's jaw clenched as he tried to ignore the grinding pain on his elbow as Harry's hand exerted even more pressure, "Oh yeah, and how would you feel if some random dude took your girl shopping and paid for all her shit."
"Don't compare us Flash, you're just gonna hurt yourself," Harry chastised before he turned and pushed Flash back towards the front of the store, "Now get out of here before you embarrass yourself more."
Flash stumbled back unable to comprehend how he was being tossed around like he weighed nothing, "Y-yeah whatever man, just stay away from my girl."
Harry smirked and a glint appeared in his eyes as he whispered, "I was here before you Flash and I'll be here long afterward...so if she needs a shoulder to cry you bet it's gonna be mine."
Flash's jaw visibly clenched and he looked a split second away from lunging at Harry but then he seemed to think otherwise as he turned around storming out of the store.
