I've been hanging with Caleb for quite a while. I felt I should tell him about our investigation. Yes, confess. At break, I ran towards Caleb and hugged him. I knew he still needed one. We are more comfortable around each other than ever. He was like a best friend. I thought of him as a jerk, but he was just a nice guy acting like a mean one. "Hey, Liam." He said. "I have something to tell you," I told him. "Oh, okay. "About..." I sighed. "Marcus and I started a mystery or investigation, you can say anything you prefer. And, Marcus thinks you're the murderer. I don't, though." I finally confessed. He stepped back, staring at me. "What?" He asked me, knowing. "Are you okay with that?" I asked. "No..." He replied. "Caleb, I..." "JUST JOKING! I am fine. Your best friend, he hates me, doesn't he?" He asked. "You can say that." We both chuckled. "Are you the murderer?" I asked. His eyes darkened, feeling betrayed. "You think that?" He asked me quietly. "No, I don't. I just want to know. It's part of my investigation." I replied. "Of course not!" He answered. He scoffed. .... He scoffed at me..... "You.." I told him. "What?" He asked me. "You scoffed at me." I told him. "Yeah, for fun, don't worry." He replied. Now, I felt a bit relieved. "Tell me what happened." I told him. "I don't know anything, I promise." He replied. "Oh, okay-"
"Liam?" I looked behind. It was Marcus, Brian, and Karson at the back. "Oh, hi! Hi, guys!" I welcomed them nervously. "WHY WERE YOU TALKING TO CALEB?!" He asked me. "He's my best friend now-.. Oh, birds.. Sorry. Uh,.. I was bullying-" I told him but... "SAVE IT! You aren't the person to bully people, I know! Best friend, really? Fine... You have one best friend now. Oh, sorry. You only had one best friend anyway... Caleb! I hate.. YOU! THIS WAS THE REASON YOU DIDN'T WANT TO TELL ANYTHING SECRET ABOUT CALEB, RIGHT? THAT DAY? IN CLASS? HE'S MANIPULATING YOU, STUPID! YOU DON'T KNOW THAT, DON'T YOU? HE.... is the murderer. I BET HE KNOWS THAT NOW, RIGHT? BYE, LIAM." He scoffed a bit and left the room. Now, I felt like crying. "I'm so sorry, Liam." Caleb spoke. "It's my fault. I'm everyone's fault... Including David's death..." He confessed. "Wh-what?" I asked him, now my voice cracking. "I'm not the murderer but.... Nobody really murdered. David and I had a fight, because David told me that I couldn't be friends with you guys... I wanted to, so we argued... The reason I didn't want to talk to you at first was because it would have been his wish... Now, I broke it... I-I'm sorry." He told me. "Why is he dead?" I asked. "I told him to jump off the balcony, but I didn't mean it. He said 'Fine' and went to the balcony and prepared to jump. I told him... 'Wait.." I tried to stop him. But it was too late. He has already decided and jumped off. My friends didn't care about David.. Not me, either. They came for my popularity. David was not that real.. Not much of a real friend, no... But he was a good person, too." He confessed. "I... I'm sorry." I apologized. "You don't have to be. I'M sorry... None of this would have happened... I-..." He stopped and wiped his tears off. He ran to the toilet without finishing his sentence. "Caleb, wait!" I ran to him, but he locked all the doors. I saw Marcus, Brian, and Karson. Brian and Karson looked awkward, but Marcus rolled his eyes. "Go catch your... Best friend!" He spoke. I didn't care right now. "CALEB!" I called him. "What?" He asked me. "What are you doing?" "What do you think? If I never existed, none of this would have happened, Liam. I love you... not only as a friend..." He confessed. "Wh-what?" I was shocked. "Yes. Now, you know." He told me. "Please don't do this! Look, I love you, too. You're not my best friend... I.." This was getting dramatic. "Thanks, but no.." "PLEASE! I BEG YOU!" I shouted. "I..." "Come out, or I'm doing the same to myself," I told him. "Don't.." He told me. "Then, get out of there." "Fine." I was relieved. He opened the door and hugged me. "Thank you."
