Chapter 31 - Chapter 29: Born Again!

(Attendance please…)

….

Gojo quickly surveyed the chaotic scene. Tony was still frantically working at the console, a bead of sweat trickling down his temple.

Thor had been temporarily launched from the building Gojo estimated he had about fifteen to twenty seconds before the God of Thunder made a rather angry reentry.

Pietro was crumpled against the wall, effectively immobilized for now. Wanda… well, Banner seemed to have her quite literally in hand, his grip a silent, terrifying promise of what would happen if she tried anything.

That left three conscious and capable opponents: Captain America, Natasha Romanoff, and Clint Barton. Dr. Cho, while present, was clearly not a combatant in this particular scuffle.

"Tony!" Gojo called out, his eyes still fixed on Steve, Natasha, and Clint, who were now warily circling.

"How much time? And I'm not asking because I'm in a bind here. I just… I can't hold them off for too long without actually hurting them, and I'd rather not. Bad for team morale, you know?"

"Damn it, Steve!" Tony yelled over his shoulder, his fingers flying across the holographic interface. "Why aren't you listening?! We have to do this! Ultron can't be stopped any other way!"

Steve, his jaw set, his hand tightening around the familiar leather straps of his shield, ignored Tony. "I'm saving you, Tony," he declared, his voice filled with a grim certainty.

"I'm saving you from what you're doing here, and from the guilt that will inevitably come after this."

With that, he launched his shield, not at Tony, but at the delicate array of wires and conduits powering the Regeneration Cradle.

The vibranium disc spun through the air, a deadly projectile aimed at the heart of their desperate plan. But before it could reach its target, it stopped dead, suspended in mid-air by an invisible force. Gojo's Blue.

Captain America, anticipating this, had already moved. He came in from the side, launching a powerful right hook aimed at Gojo's head.

The punch connected or rather, it would have connected, if not for the Infinity. Steve's fist stopped inches from Gojo's face.

Gojo, with a casual flick of his wrist, sent Steve's shield clattering against a far wall. He then returned the "courtesy" of Captain America's punch, delivering a swift, precise blow to Steve's chest.

Captain America's reflexes, honed by years of combat, took over. He crossed his arms protectively over the point of impact, but the force was still immense.

He flew backwards, crashing hard against one of the lab walls, a grunt of pain escaping him.

"How much time, Tony?" Gojo asked again, not even glancing at the downed Captain.

"Just hold them off for… two minutes!" Tony yelled back, his voice strained. "Yeah, two minutes! That's all I need!"

Gojo turned his attention to Clint and Natasha, who were now standing side-by-side, their expressions conflicted but resolute.

"Please tell me you two aren't with the 'oh-so-righteous' Captain on this one," Gojo said, a hint of genuine disappointment in his voice. "I really don't want to hurt either of you… Natasha…"

Clint sighed, his face grim. "I don't want to deal with another Ultron, Satoru. Sorry." He nocked an arrow, aiming it carefully at the wires leading to the Cradle, intending to malfunction the system.

But before he could release, Natasha moved with lightning speed. She grabbed Clint's bow arm, deflecting his shot.

A brief, intense scuffle broke out between the two master spies, a flurry of blocks, strikes, and grapples. It was clear Natasha had made her choice.

"Do it fast, Tony!" Natasha grunted, momentarily gaining the upper hand against Clint.

A wide, genuine smile spread across Gojo's face. "Thanks, Natasha!" he said. "I really didn't want to have to hurt you two. And…" he winked, "I was just joking back then, about the part not liking you. I like you. As a friend, of course. Just keep him down for two minutes. I'll handle Thor when he gets back, and our star-spangled friend over there."

He then looked over at Steve, who was already pushing himself to his feet, wincing but determined. "I suggest you should just stay down, Cap," Gojo advised, his tone almost friendly. "I was holding back quite a bit when I punched you just now."

"Believe me when I say this, son," Steve retorted, shaking his head to clear it, "I've taken worse." He then charged, launching himself at Gojo with renewed vigor, a flurry of punches and kicks.

Gojo, a playful glint in his eyes, easily sidestepped and parried, turning the attack into a close-quarters dance.

"Huh! I'm not your son cap."

"So," Steve grunted, throwing a combination, "not going to use your invisible shield this time?"

Gojo, effortlessly deflecting Steve's blows, grinned. "You don't have yours at the moment," he replied, gesturing towards where the vibranium shield lay against the wall.

"So, I thought about making this a little more fair. Now, show me what the hero of America can really do."

What followed was a display of hand-to-hand combat that was both breathtaking and utterly one-sided.

Steve, for all his enhanced strength, speed, and decades of combat experience, was completely outmatched.

Gojo moved with a fluid, almost lazy grace, his movements economical yet devastatingly effective.

He anticipated Steve's every move, his Six Eyes giving him an almost precognitive understanding of the Captain's attacks and he was also just too slow.

Steve's powerful punches either met empty air or were deflected with casual ease.

Gojo, in turn, landed quick, precise strikes a jab here, an elbow there, a knee to the midsection each one carrying more force than seemed possible, slowly but surely wearing Captain America down.

It wasn't a brutal beatdown, not yet, but Gojo was clearly, undeniably, in complete control, overwhelming the super-soldier.

….

While Gojo was masterfully handling Captain America, Tony was a whirlwind of focused activity at the console. He deftly connected one final, crucial wire to the Regeneration Cradle.

"Hey, buddy," he said, his voice a mixture of hope and trepidation, addressing the StarkPhone where Jarvis's consciousness resided. "I hope you're ready for the… upgrade. New body, new everything."

"Yes, sir," Jarvis's calm, familiar voice replied. "I am ready when you are."

Tony took a deep breath. "Alright, commencing upload." He tapped a command on the holographic screen, and a new display popped up, showing a progress bar: JARVIS UPLOADING TO PRIMARY HOST… 0%. The numbers began to climb steadily.

Gojo, despite being engaged in a fluid, one-sided dance of combat with Captain America, was also keeping a vigilant watch on the gaping hole in the ceiling.

And right on cue, with a thunderous crash and a crackle of lightning, Thor made his re-entry. He landed in a classic, legendary superhero pose, Mjolnir in hand, already sparking with divine energy.

"Thor!" Steve yelled, momentarily disengaging from Gojo. "Destroy the machine! The Cradle!"

Before Thor could even react to Steve's command, Gojo, after delivering a solid, if still restrained, punch to Steve's jaw that sent the Captain stumbling back, warped.

He reappeared instantly in front of Thor. He pulsed Blue, and the God of Thunder, caught off guard by the sudden reappearance and the invisible force, found himself lifted into the air again.

Gojo then, with a thought, flung Thor back out through the hole in the ceiling. This time, however, he followed it up with a full-output Red, a repulsive blast significantly more powerful than the one he'd used before.

Thor was sent rocketing even further away, a distant, thunder-wielding speck.

"Tony!" Gojo called out, appearing back in the lab just as quickly. "I'll handle Cap! Keep an eye on the upload process, make sure nothing disturbs it! And keep Thor out of here if he decides to come back for a third round! We can't afford any disruptions now!" He didn't bother waiting for a reply, already turning his attention back to a regrouping Captain America.

The chaotic battle continued. Gojo, now more serious, re-engaged Steve, their movements a blur.

In the sky above, flashes of blue and red occasionally lit up the clouds as Gojo intercepted Thor's attempts to re-enter the facility, keeping the God of Thunder effectively busy and far away.

Natasha, with grim determination, managed to keep Clint pinned down, preventing him from interfering with Tony's work.

Pietro remained groaning against the wall, his super-speed nullified by his injuries. And Wanda… well, Wanda was still very much in the unyielding, green-tinged grip of Bruce Banner, a silent, terrifying stalemate.

Two agonizingly long minutes later, a chime echoed from Tony's console. The progress bar on the screen flashed: UPLOAD COMPLETE. The text changed to: INTEGRATION SUCCESSFUL. The Regeneration Cradle, which had been humming with intense energy, suddenly went still.

Then, it began to shake. Its translucent door hissed open. A crimson hand, gleaming and metallic yet somehow organic, reached out and gripped the edge of the Cradle. A figure began to lift itself up…

It was him. The synthetic being. Forged from Vibranium, powered by the Mind Stone, and now, inhabited by the consciousness of Jarvis.

He was red-skinned, with intricate golden lines tracing across his form, and the yellow Mind Stone pulsed gently on his forehead.

The process was complete.

Instantly, the fighting stopped. Everyone Steve, Gojo, Natasha, Clint, even Banner, who slightly loosened his hold on Wanda froze. All eyes were drawn to the newly born being.

He levitated gracefully from the Cradle, his movements fluid and serene. He floated silently towards Tony, his eyes, which glowed with a soft, internal light, fixed on his creator. He stopped a few feet away.

Then, in Jarvis's familiar, calm, and impeccably polite voice, the being spoke. "Hello, sir," he said, a slight, almost curious tilt to his head. "You did it. I am… JARVIS."

….

A/N: So, How was it? Jarvis is born again with a new body… new life… and new emotion. He is in control and not like ultron. He is powerful. And he is Tony… son… technically.
