Chapter 24 - Leaving the Labyrinth

[Your innate ability has evolved.]

[You have awakened your Aspect Legacy]

[Would you like to claim it?]

The evolution of my innate ability was expected, my ascension to the level of sword seeker fundamentally changing how the spell view my power.

But I hadn't expect to awaken my Aspect Legacy.

From what I learned at my time at the academy, every aspect possesses an Aspect Legacy, but very few awakened are actually able to claim them.

An Aspect Legacy has unique conditions to unlock it, and I guess by reaching the sword seeker level I unlocked mine.

'Claim.'

Aspect Legacy: [Olsen]

Olsen Description: [A Grand Constellations lights dimmed on an incomprehensible battle field. Expressing regret, the Grand Constellation wished for another chance, to live not in solitude, but in the light of others. A mysterious force granted him his wish, reincarnating him within the confines of a new world. Reclaim your Legacy, Star of Solitude.]

I stared at the runes wordlessly, the text containing a description of my final moments on the battlefield of stars.

Every Aspect had a legacy, a legacy left behind by something or someone.

Apparently, I was reclaiming my own Legacy.

I brought my attention to the name of the Aspect Legacy.

'Olsen, huh?'

Olsen was my family name, the namesake of the Sword house of Olsen.

The Sword House of Olsen was the place where I was born, the family had raised me as it's heir, the youngest lord.

Until it was burnt to the ground by a 7-star dragon constellation, it was the only place I'd known, the stone walls housing memories of my childhood, of innocence, and of endless love.

It was a warm place, and I guess it remained "warm" until the end.

I chose not to take on a new name, to not be adopted by another noble house, out of respect for the people who raised me and the people who died protecting me.

The name followed me to the end, the house living on with me as its only member until I eventually died after killing the Cursed Dragon Hengist.

My journey to the zenith of the world started and ended with a dragon, how ironic.

Looking down, I stared at the text, studying the relics contained by my Aspect Legacy.

First Relic: [Ready to Claim]

Second Relic: [Locked]

Third Relic: [Locked]

Fourth Relic: [Locked]

Fifth Relic: [Locked]

Sixth Relic: [Locked]

Seventh Relic: [Locked]

Eighth Relic: [Locked]

Ninth Relic: [Locked]

9 in total, an insane amount compared to the Aspect Legacies of normal awakened.

The First Relic was ready to be claimed, and I did so without much thought.

Instead of runes, instead of a notification or the cold voice of the spell whispering in my mind, I felt something different.

Light bloomed all around me, platinum-hued brilliance bursting forth from my body, strength filling my frame.

The spell spoke to the world of a feat, an accomplishment so terrifying that the world had no choice but to acknowledge it.

In the dream realm, a gleaming star lit up the sky, glittering brightly as it engraved itself in the tapestry of the night.

I knew this star, I knew what it represented, and the feat of the one who hung its platinum light in the sky.

I opened my palm, two stars manifesting themselves in my hand.

The Star of Memory glittered gently, and the Star beside it, the Star of Vocalization, burned quietly.

To say I was shocked would be a gross understatement.

I was absolutely baffled by the events that had just transpired.

The Star of Vocalization, like the Star of Memory, had an ability.

There were two ways to activate its power: speaking or singing.

By utilizing its ability, it allowed me to add incantations to my attacks, providing me with circumstantial buffs depending on the lyrics or contents of the incantation I recite.

A useful power, but unfortunately quite embarrassing to use.

Most of the time, to maximize its power, I had to sing, and quite loudly at that.

99% of the time, I just used it as a starlight battery, the feat I had accomplished to gain the star a stain on my history, and the means of its activation being too much of a hassle to use during most fights.

You see, the Star of Vocalization was the 7th star I obtained, and uh...

Well, at the time, I was roaming the outland, slaying forgotten ones and whatever other god forsaken creature happened to cross my path.

I was quite frankly, just a LITTLE insane, the isolation was really getting to me at the time.

Anyway, It was around this time that I got jumped by an army of dragons, most of them being around the 4-5 star level.

The battle lasted about a month, and a few constellations had spectated, the scene before them too entertaining to take their eyes off of.

I slaughtered all of them with a grin, singing lullabies as I decapitated and bisected the flying lizards.

I went through every single dumb children's song I had learned in my past lives.

Mary had a Little Lamb, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Baa, Baa, Blacksheep, etc.

I serenaded them as I put them to sleep forever, the sound of my voice resounding across the outland.

For a whole month, the continent was left baffled by reports of the musical massacre, dozens of stars having fallen from the sky as a new one rose.

Apparently, the feat had been simultaneously terrifying and hilarious, so much so that the heavens had no choice but to acknowledge it.

I had given the constellations entertainment and draconic entities PTSD.

It was a dark moment in my history, one that was unfortunately recorded in the empire's history as the "Lullaby Slaughter".

Sufficient to say, when I eventually got to the level of a 10-star constellation, the knights of the Round Table wouldn't let me live it down.

Galahad especially frequently poked fun at me, asking me to sing him cradle songs whenever I happened to best him in a spar.

Well, the past is in the past, no worrying about it now.

I'm a different person now.

Sighing, I activated the power of the Star of Memory, accessing the map that I had constructed of the Labyrinth.

It was finally time for me to leave the maze that had been my home for the past 9 months.

Walking out of the cavern, I started my journey back to the surface.

(A/N: I fixed my vocab error!

I've been trying to expand his back story a little bit more, just so he still feels like a character when I introduce him to Sunny and Co.

I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter!

(Ps. I saw the name suggestions that you guys made, and I might use them for a different purpose in a later arc I have planned.)

Thanks for the support, and would you guys mind leaving a review? Just so I can see how people feel about my writing and where I could improve.

See you guys tomorrow!)
