Chapter 13 - marchant?

After returning to Kamalgram, Shyam went to the Adventurers Guild to collect his reward—after all, fighting that beast wasn't easy. And only after killing it did he realize it wasn't an ordinary monster—it was a Level 1 Tier 1 Boss, ten times stronger than an average Level 1 beast.

In this world, bosses are divided into three major categories: seven Earthly Tiers, seven Heavenly Tiers, and seven Godly Tiers.

Each tier boss can level up to 100—and even up to 200 with boosts and buffs.

The one Shyam had fought was the lowest kind: Earthly Tier 1, Level 1. But even then, it nearly killed him.

He stepped into the Guild Master's office with the red lizard's ES stored safely in his backpack.

"Welcome back!" the Guild Master greeted.

"Yes. Here's the ES," said Shyam, placing it on the table.

"Well, I have to thank you deeply for completing this task. To be honest, it was meant for a D-rank adventurer. Yet you, an F-rank, defeated it. For that, I'll be requesting the Taralaya Adventurer Guild to process a rank upgrade. In the meantime, your E-rank guild card is ready," said the Guild Master, handing him the new card.

It looked almost the same as his previous one, just a different color. His title changed from [Rank - F] to [Rank - E].

Shyam slipped it into his pocket, took the reward, and thanked the Guild Master before turning to leave. But just as he reached for the door—

"Hey, wait. I have another request, if you're interested."

Shyam paused, turned around, confused but curious. "What is it?"

The Guild Master smiled and continued:

"The lord of this village, Lalima Kamalgram, has asked me to gather a group of five F-rank adventurers to assist his merchant on a delivery. Seeing your skills, I'm impressed and would like you to join the quest. The reward is high, and all you need to do is protect the carriage. What do you say?"

Shyam took a few seconds to think.

"I'm okay with it, but only if the delivery isn't urgent. I'd like a few days to explore the area."

He was new here, and ever since he was a child, he had longed for adventure—exploring places, meeting people, and creating memories. He wanted to savor at least a small part of every place he visited, including Kamalgram.

Before leaving, he wanted to experience it. Maybe even witness a SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS moment.

(Yeah, dig a hole and stay there, hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobics. Because I'm sesquipedalian, hah!)

He was enjoying every second of his time in this world. He was seeing things he had only read about in novels and mangas. And above all, he was living the life of an adventurer.

Unreal. Indescribable.

"Don't worry about that," the Guild Master replied. "The lotuses aren't fully grown yet, so the delivery will be in three days. You're free to explore until then."

"Lotuses?" Shyam blinked. It surprised him.

Were they really going to deliver lotuses to Taralaya? A city known for its rivers and aquatic exports?

They should have more than enough lotuses, so why Kamalgram's? That question stuck in Shyam's head like a stubborn boss monster.

"Yes," the Guild Master replied. "Our village is best known for its lotus growth. Both in quality and quantity. Better yet, our lotuses grow faster than normal, so we can export more than anyone else.

Not just lotuses—we have many other aquatic plants useful for daily life and rare medicine."

Kamalgram had survived for years solely on lotus exports. Adventurers from around the world visited for this reason.

They tasted delicious and had incredible properties. A regular person could live a healthy, energetic life by eating just one lotus fruit daily.

Of course, adventurers required more, but even for them, it was worth the taste.

"Well then, I'm all ready for the job. Just notify me when the delivery's ready. Until then, I'll explore," Shyam said, finally leaving the guild.

As he walked through the village, he stumbled upon the local blacksmith.

Now that he had more money, better gear—or at least a decent piece of armor—could help him in combat. That way, he wouldn't need to be so cautious with every strike.

"Let's see," Shyam muttered, entering the shop.

There were a few other adventurers browsing around. Back in Nilgram, he barely saw any, but here in Kamalgram, they were more common.

And who knows—by the time he reached the kingdom capital, he might see hundreds, if not thousands.

While browsing the shelves of swords and shields, Shyam's eyes locked onto a steel sword—sharp enough to slice through a rock like cheese. It was within budget too—only ten silver coins. A fair price for such quality.

"Hey, umm…" Shyam said, holding the sword and walking toward the receptionist.

"Yes, may I help you?" she asked, standing with perfect posture. Her body language screamed trained professional.

"I'd like to purchase this sword, please," he said, placing it on the counter.

"Excellent choice! That'll be ten silver coins, please," she said, ready to pack the sword.

"Yes, of course," Shyam said, pulling out ten exact silver coins and handing them over.

She placed the blade into a neatly designed scabbard and handed it to him.

"Here you go, sir!"

It was shiny. Reflective. Way better than his last sword. But still—he had no plans to sell the old one. It was his first sword, the one that helped him reach E-rank. He'd keep it as a symbol of his journey.

After that, Shyam left the shop and returned to the same restaurant he had eaten at before. He had a proper meal and then headed into the forest to test his new weapon and skills.

He had received something called the Undead Bow and a ton of Flint Arrows. But there was one problem.

He had no idea where the bow actually was.

He remembered the system popup—but nothing appeared in his hands. Nothing poofed into reality. So... where did it go?

"Hey, Raitha," Shyam muttered as he walked deeper into the forest.

"Yup! I'm here and ready—yeah!" Raitha replied cheerfully. She seemed unusually upbeat today, and Shyam decided not to question it.

He was just glad he wasn't being roasted today.

"Well, I got an item after killing the red lizard, but I can't figure out where it went. Do you know?" he asked, sounding like someone who just had boiling tea dumped in his lap but was too polite to scream.

Raitha knew it was an act—but she still responded, not because she fell for it, but because she was designed to help with system-related stuff.

(Other commands like "WAKE UP" were a different story.)

"Most dropped loot or system items you receive go into your System Item Mail section. From there, you can access them.

BUT once an item is brought into reality—it can't go back into the system!"

As she spoke, she opened the System Item Mail window, showing the items Shyam had received after defeating the T1-L1 Red Lizard Boss:

Undead Bow

500 Flint Arrows
