94. Chapter 94 The Spider Monster That Truly Doesn't Want to Die
Click... After entering the password, Xia Shang pushed open the door and walked into Cui Yongjae's Room.
The light in the Room was dim, and a pungent, foul smell permeated everywhere. Xia Shang was all too familiar with this smell; it was clearly the odor emanating from decaying blood.
Following the direction of the smell, he saw Cui Yongjae lying in a pool of blood.
Cui Yongjae's mouth and nose and other parts were tightly wrapped with tape, but he wasn't dead. Instead, Pyeon Sang-wook was stepping on him, using him as a mat. Slurp, slurp, Pyeon Sang-wook, sitting on the chair, was eating instant noodles while watching the repeatedly replayed warning news on the television.
"Did you cause this?" Pyeon Sang-wook kicked Cui Yongjae towards Xia Shang.
"What does this have to do with me? The Military hasn't even figured out this apocalypse, let alone me. You know, the source of infection can't be transmitted through air and blood." Xia Shang smiled, picked up the instant noodles from the nearby table, tore open the lid, and poured in hot water.
"What's known so far is that only desire is the main factor inducing infection. Maybe it's precisely because his desire to escape was too strong that he got infected."
Xia Shang's explanation was reasonable, leaving Pyeon Sang-wook with no grounds to refute.
"How are you planning to deal with him?" Pyeon Sang-wook put down his instant noodles, took out a cigarette case from his pocket, but when he was about to light one, he found the case empty, so he gave up.
"You don't need to know that."
"Don't let him out, or I'll come after you." Looking at the smiling Xia Shang, Pyeon Sang-wook walked up to him and stared at Xia Shang with cold eyes. Although he didn't know what the other person was up to, he understood that once Cui Yongjae completely turned into a monster, he would pose a significant threat to the survivors in the entire Apartment.
"Don't worry, I won't let him leave this Room alive." Xia Shang carried his instant noodles and sat down in the spot Pyeon Sang-wook had just vacated.
Hearing Xia Shang's reply, Pyeon Sang-wook nodded and casually crumpled the cigarette case into a ball, throwing it into the trash can.
Seeing Pyeon Sang-wook leave the Room.
Xia Shang then focused his attention on Cui Yongjae at his feet. This guy was just a step away from complete mutation. He wanted to see what kind of ability Cui Yongjae could develop.
While he was eating the instant noodles, the Panel popped up a notification: [Gluttony Talent is Fusing, current progress 100%]
Rip! Cui Yongjae's body on the ground began to twist. He struggled to break free from the restraint of the tape. His body surface grew a hard shell like a turtle's, pushing the tape apart, and then his limbs turned into sharp blades, cutting into the floor. "No one can hurt me, I'm going to slaughter all of you."
His head twisted into a worm-like shape, covered in spikes, looking exceptionally disgusting.
"It still failed." Seeing this, Xia Shang sighed softly. It seemed his plan hadn't succeeded. The prolonged torture had instead caused Cui Yongjae to develop the desire not to be harmed. At the same time, his deep-seated desire to slaughter still existed. A combination of factors led him to become this current appearance.
"Hehehe, how you treated me before, I'm going to get revenge for all of it now!" Cui Yongjae grinned hideously and attacked Xia Shang.
In an instant, the spiky worm appeared before Xia Shang, accompanied by waves of foul stench, opening its mouth embedded with sharp teeth.
"Idiot, did you think I wasn't prepared?" Xia Shang said expressionlessly.
The moment his voice fell, Cui Yongjae seemed to sense something. His single eye filled with fear, and he roared in panic, "No one can hurt me, no one can hurt me." The next second, the flesh bomb Xia Shang had planted inside him exploded directly. Countless blades surged out, frantically cutting through Cui Yongjae's internal organs, flesh and blood, and all other parts that could be shredded. After just a few breaths, Cui Yongjae turned into a pile of mangled flesh covered by a turtle shell, amidst pain and despair.
However, the mangled flesh still retained activity. It seemed that if Cui Yongjae was given enough time, he might be able to resurrect using this pile of flesh and blood.
Unfortunately, Xia Shang wouldn't give him that chance. As four slits opened on either side of his neck, an intensely concentrated blue laser burst forth from the cracks, shining on the pile of mangled flesh, instantly burning it into a heap of charcoal, leaving no possibility for a single cell to survive.
"Finding a monster whose desire is not to die, why is it so difficult?" Xia Shang shook his head, picked up the broom and dustpan nearby, and swept the charcoal from the ground into the trash can.
On the other side.
After Cha Hyun-soo and the other two left, they happened to encounter Seo Yi-kyung, who had narrowly escaped death. Yoon Ji-su suggested that she would take Seo Yi-kyung to Uncle Han Du-sik's Room to rest by herself. Jung Jae-heon was worried about her going alone, so he frowned and looked at Cha Hyun-soo.
"You go help her. I can manage by myself. Besides, I have this, which is enough." Cha Hyun-soo said, gripping the electric gun in his hand.
"May the Lord protect your safety."
Watching the two help Seo Yi-kyung leave, Cha Hyun-soo turned and walked downstairs. When he reached the corridor on the ninth floor, he suddenly had an ominous feeling.
Cha Hyun-soo cautiously looked around. Seeing that nothing happened, he continued forward.
Little did he know, in a Room not far from him, a spider-like monster was waiting for prey to take the bait.
"It's starting again." Cha Hyun-soo wiped away the nosebleed, ignoring the hallucinations appearing before his eyes and the auditory hallucinations in his ears. As he passed an unclosed room door, he saw a strand of spider silk suddenly shoot out from the dark and deep Room.
Like a life-taking rope, it tightly wrapped around Cha Hyun-soo's neck.
Facing this sudden attack, Cha Hyun-soo's first reaction was to escape! But against the tough spider silk, he couldn't run at all. Even though his body leaned forward, he still couldn't break free from the pull dragging his body into the Room.
Bang! Cha Hyun-soo was pulled down onto the ground. The intense feeling of suffocation caused blood vessels to quickly fill his eyes. As the air inhaled into his lungs gradually decreased, every breath he took was accompanied by a burning pain.
Meanwhile, the hallucinations before Cha Hyun-soo's eyes became clearer and clearer.
Just as he was about to fall unconscious, a surgical knife shot out from a distance, flashing with a cold gleam, and cut the spider silk in the blink of an eye.
"I don't want to die, I don't want to die." Inside the Room, the spider monster's muttering instantly caused a flash of ecstasy in Xia Shang's eyes. It really was a case of planting a willow and having it grow into shade unintentionally. He hadn't expected that a monster that could spit spider silk would actually possess the desire not to die.
Seeing this, Xia Shang walked over to Cha Hyun-soo's side, bent down to pick up the surgical knife from the ground, and asked the Cha Hyun-soo on the ground, "How are you? Can you still stand up?"
"Cough, cough, cough... No problem." Cha Hyun-soo covered his chest and struggled to get up from the ground.
