Later, mom came out and she wiped the tears from her face with a sleeve.
"How are you mum?" Thomas asked.
"Fine, how about you?"
"It happened better"
Mom hugged her son
"Enough" he recoiled "I hope you didn't say unnecessary things there".
"Of course not".
"I'm sorry", said Thomas and was about to leave.
"Stop, where are you going?", his mother looked at him in surprise.
"On business".
"What? Have you heard officer..."
"I don't care what he said", Thomas cut off and his mother's eyes filled with tears. "Don't worry about me".
"Don't do bad things, Thomas..."
"I won't do anything, I'm not really sure of what I'll find killer, in fact, I'm not at all sure.".
Thomas looked away from his mother.
"I don't know where to look for him" Thomas replied when they went outside.
It was fresh outside, Thomas looked up at the sky and suddenly it appeared an irresistible desire to smoke.
"Don't look for him, Thomas, please".
Thomas looked into his mother's eyes.
"I'm afraid that he will hurt someone else, you know?"
"You can't stop him anyway".
"I want revenge".
"No".
Thomas turned away.
"You can't do this, I don't want my son to become a murderer.. and you must know that revenge begets revenge".
"If I find out who did it, I promised myself, I will kill him".
Thomas felt fear in his mother, but he didn't care, he left. No clue wondering if all these murders are of Molly's mother and Olvia's husband Parker is related, but Thomas dismissed it, he thought it was the man who assaulted Carol, it was him and in this he had no doubts at all. Thomas walked stumbling and stopped.Willie told him about some psychopath, but Thomas wasn't sure that it was him, and if he was really a psycho, could he track down Carol, or maybe he wasn't sick... But Willie told that no one could ever find him, he was so cunning he could get away.
Thomas suddenly remembered to himself that there should be an exam tomorrow. He decided to go to the same place where he found Carol even before the police would be there, because he said where he found her.
Suddently he noticed Julia .She was standing with some girl whom Thomas hadn't seen before and told her something, from her expression on her face it was possible to understand that she is upset.
"Hello", Thomas said dryly, glancing at her.
She noticed him and came closer.
"So it's her... "
"What are you talking about".
"That girl who lived with you, she disappeared? I saw her on the news.
"I have to go, Julia, Im busy".
"Do you know where she is? " Julia asked, and her corduroy shirt swayed in the wind.
"She's dead", Thomas said suddenly "dead".
"How is it possible?".
"Now I'm finally left alone, are you happy now?" Thomas shouted.
The girl who was next to Julia persuaded her to go away, but she didn't listened.
"I'm sorry, Thomas".
"Now rejoice with Ethan, rejoice, now I will not be able to smile for a long time, I…"
Thomas felt bad and blushed. He turned around.
Julia touched his hand.
"Calm down, you are not worthless and not a scum and you are not to blame for anything. I'm sure some time will pass and you will forget and continue to live such a life as before".
Thomas glanced at her.
"You can't know that", he pulled out his hand and left.
Julia shouted after him, but he couldn't hear her anymore, he walked thinking. He was angry with Julia, he suddenly remembered how Ethan had said that she had agreed to hook up with him and he was somehow disgusted by this thought.
"Damn it", he thought to himself, "but is she really like that"
The voice inside said he must be indifferent and Thomas agreed. Finally he found that place. At first he hesitated to go there or not. There was no one around, he began to walk slowly and his feet became like cotton wool he could not walk, because his every movement seemed so unnatural.
Thomas looked around again, there was no one, he suddenly began to remember how he was here yesterday, how he found this body, but it seemed so much time has passed.
He crouched down and touched the ground. There was no blood, obviously the rain washed it all away and it was for the best.
It seemed to Thomas that someone was coming, but in reality there was no one. He straightened up and looked into the dark sky, and then suddenly noticed on the ground something black.
Thomas grabbed it and recognized it as his phone which disappeared when they were attacked by that maniac the first time.
Thomas already had a new phone at the time, but he shoved this one into the pocket, it's logical, she was killed by someone who wanted to attack her, now there was no doubt, but who was it.
He tried to turn on the phone, but it didn't work. Still, he found at least something because it was not in vain the police and so they will not do anything he thought, once he could not detain the maniac of the one Willy was talking about.
But Thomas still couldn't understand why this man wanted to kill her, that maniac, maybe as the officer himself said, she owed him something, or maybe these murders of Molly's mother and husband Olvia Parker had something in common, although it was doubtful.
With these thoughts, Thomas almost reached the house.
He opened the door, and his mother immediately ran up to him.
"Where did you go?", she asked quickly, and there was fear in her eyes.
"Had some business".
"What business, Thomas, you know how worried I am about you, don't you?"
"Mom, I asked you not to worry about me, I'm not a kid anymore." Thomas moved away from his mother and sat down at the table.
"But you are my son, I will always worry about you".
"I know, but you don't have to stop me, mom, I've already solved everything"
"I don't want my son to be a murderer or anything like that... "
"I don't know who killed Carol, but if I found out, I would have his own
strangled him with his hands, killed him and didn't spare him... Thomas folded his hands nervously and turned.
"But this is a sin".
"And what he did to Carol is not a sin? "
Mom lowered her head in fright.
"He will be punished, you know this for all that he has done to others".
"He must be punished, but he wont be... "
"Where did you get it from? "
" 'Cause I know, you think he only committed this murder. I don't think so", replied Thomas, and didn't let his mother say a word, "I found a diary in which he wrote down whom he had already killed".
"What diary?" mother suddenly asked, surprised.
"His diary".
"How do you know it's his diary, Thomas".
"I found it when I was with Willie and John, that maniac lived in that home, well, it was hard to call home, but Willie said so".
"So you have that diary here?"
Thomas suddenly got up and went to his room.
Thomas grabbed it and unfolded on the page where was the photo by Carol.
"Look, mom, he tried to kill her a long time ago".
But there was no mom Molly or husband Olvia Parker.
"Throw it away" suddenly said mom.
"No, Thomas replied and hid the diary in his pocket, I think seeks it".
"And if he finds out that you have his diary…".
"Then I'll finish him off" Thomas replied sharply.
"Please no", mother said upset,"it may end badly".
"That's it, I'm going to ask you not to talk about it anymore, okay".
Mom was silent.
"So what will we have for dinner today?".
"And what would you like, Thomas".
"What you cooked, I will eat".
Mom made soup, but at dinner they didn't speak, only mom suddenly said
"Thomas... "
"Just don't start".
"No, I just wanted to ask something".
"Okay".
Mom was silent for a moment.
"And this girl Carol, did you have any feelings for her?"
"Why are you asking about this? "
"I just want to know."
"No, there was nothing between us, we were just friends".
"Are you sure about this? "
Thomas angrily glanced at his mother and she didn't speak anymore. He didn't understand why she decided to ask this and Thomas really didn't think Carol was for him someone closer than just a friend, although it may just be some part of his consciousness thought so.
"Delicious soup", he said quietly, and mother smiled.
But Thomas still felt sadness in her, it couldn't be otherwise, she was also disappointed with what had happened to Carol and thought that she was thinking about it aswell.
"It's time for you to rest, son".
"Yes, I really don't feel very good now".
Thomas was feeling a bit dull and got up, washed his plate and went to his room.
He sat on his bed for a moment and then lay down, breathing hard. He was so sick he thought he was going to vomit, and maybe that soup was too much, but Thomas held back.
He sat back on the bed and looked out the window and it sounded like a thunderstorm was coming.
Mum was already sleeping, at least Thomas thought so, but he couldn't be sure. Hetried to sleep again but it was harder than he thought. Thomas looked up at the the dark ceiling and remembered Carol again, the face he had first smiling in spite of all the pain she had been through. Carol was unhappy, she had no one, her parents had died when she was very young. Thomas felt sorry for her, so he took her in, convinced his mother, but could he have thought that she would die because of him, and maybe if she'd stayed there she'd still be alive, even though that maniac had wanted to kill her for a long time.
He grabbed the back of his head. "Damn, how can I live like this, blaming myself every day for her death? It's impossible to live like this". Either he would kill himself, or end up in a psychiatric hospital, or he would simply find the killer and punish him. Only then could he sleep peacefully. But how could he find him? There were no clues.
"But I must find him. I must," he thought.
Thomas turned heavily onto his side and fell asleep. He dreamed that he was walking behind a girl with chestnut hair. She was just smiling and looking happy at him. Could it really be her again? Could it?
Suddenly, Julia appeared in front of him, and she said, "Thomas, this will all pass. You just need some time." Then Ethan appeared, standing next to Julia, holding her with one arm.
Thomas felt as though he was falling into an abyss. He wanted to hit Ethan, but he had no strength left. Suddenly, he woke up. His mother was standing beside him.
