Klera's Point of View
I'm starting to understand my abilities more clearly now. Mental Enhancement isn't just about increasing focus or sharpening thoughts—it amplifies every aspect of my mind. It enhances all abilities tied to the power of the mind.
I haven't wasted a single moment. From morning until afternoon, I trained relentlessly—with the help of Devon's clone—practicing my abilities, meditating to steady my thoughts, and learning to control the flow of my Magic Energy. I can feel the difference now. I've practiced until my abilities last longer and become more stable—something that will make a huge difference in battle.
But of course, not a single moment went by without Hebrew butting in with his teasing. He always found time to pester me—usually with that smug grin and some ridiculous comment like, "You look good beside him," or, "Who's that pretty boy, huh?" It's like he's made it his life's mission to ship me with Clifton. Honestly, I try to ignore him… but he just won't stop.
Today is the Two vs Two match. A test not just of power, but of teamwork—how well we can fight alongside someone else, how quickly we adapt, how clearly we think under pressure. My heart is racing with anticipation, tinged with a hint of nerves.
Who will I be paired with? What abilities will we face?
We're now gathered on the Training Grounds, a vast open space enclosed within the Academy's towering stone walls. All around me, my fellow Psychics are lined up in groups, their expressions tense, the air so thick with anticipation.
At the center stands Master Felicia, calm and composed, and beside her, Assistant Devon. Their expressions are unreadable. Master Felicia's sharp eyes scan the crowd with quiet intensity as she steps forward, ready to announce.
"Now, students—" she began, "I trust you've spent the last two days training hard and mastering your abilities."
Her gaze swept over us, and I stood a little straighter.
"My Assistant has submitted a report on your progress," she continued, giving a slight nod toward Devon. "She was quite impressed, and even asked me to tell you personally—you all did a good job."
A few students exchanged proud glances. I felt a small smile tug at my lips.
"And of course, your Master is also very pleased with your efforts," she added, her usual strict expression softening just a little.
Then, her tone sharpened.
"The long wait is over. The Two vs Two match begins today."
A spark of excitement surged through me.
"First, I will announce the teams—the partners you will be paired with for battle."
The tension in the air thickened. Around me, students shifted, breaths held, eyes fixed on the Master.
"For the first match—Team 1 vs Team 2." her gaze swept across the gathered students.
"Team 1: Klera Ward and Clifton Badger
Mental Enhancement and Time Manipulation."
"Team 2: Akame Walker and Dahlia Hale Reality Alteration and Memory Manipulation."
"For the second match—Team 3 vs 4."
"Team 3: Rida Mendes and Thomas Clemor Levitation and Extrasensory."
"Team 4: Julian Vendrell and Hope Roberts
Tracking and Replication."
All around me, my fellow Psychics murmured in anticipation, eyes darting between teammates and rivals. The stage was set. The matches were about to begin
"The rules for the Two vs Two match are simple," Master Felicia began.
"A clone of my assistant, Devon, will appear at the center of the battlefield holding a green flag. Your mission is to seize and capture it."
"The team that captures it and returns to their marked line on the field will be declared the winner."
"The clone will not attack—but don't expect it to stand still. It will dodge, evade, and test your coordination."
"Use whatever techniques and strategies you can. Strike if you must, kick if you can, grab the flag by any means necessary, combine your abilities—there are no restrictions and no time limit."
"This match is not just about power—it's a test of strategy, skill, and teamwork."
"Simple, right? Like a race. The first team to grab the flag and step over the line with it wins."
"Now proceed to the battlefield—Team 1 and Team 2, take your positions at the marked corners," Master Felicia instructed.
"Klera, let's go," Clifton said to me.
My heart pounded as we stepped onto the battlefield. I was nervous—scared that I might fail, scared that I wouldn't be able to help.
We arrived at our designated mark. Across from us, the opposing team stood ready at their line. In the center of the battlefield stood the clone of Devon, holding the green flag high, perfectly still—yet somehow tense, like it could move at any moment.
"Please don't hold back—do whatever it takes. I'm fine," the clone said with a smile.
But that smile? Yeah... it looked like it was about to cry, and honestly, same.
"Almighty Andromeda… please help me," I whispered under my breath.
"The match will begin on the count of three!" Master Felicia called out.
"1... 2... 3—begin!"
"Klera, do you have any abilities that can stun or paralyze the opposing team?" Clifton asked, already piecing together a plan in his head.
"Yeah, I do," I nodded. "I'll link my mind to yours—it'll let us communicate mentally during the match."
I closed my eyes, focused my energy, and use the ability.
"Mind Link!"
Ability explanation:
(Mind Link is a Mental Enhancement ability that allows the caster to create a direct psychic connection between their mind and another target—be it a person, creature, or even a sentient object. Through this link, thoughts, emotions, and images can be transmitted instantly, bypassing the need for spoken words or gestures. The connection is silent, invisible, and resistant to interception.)
A faint purple thread shimmered into existence, connecting my forehead to his like a glowing line of thought.
Clifton smiled warmly, holding out his fist.
"Let's take that flag and win this together, Klera."
That small gesture—his confidence, his warmth—it eased the heavy weight in my chest.
"Yes!" I replied, matching his fist with mine, feeling just a little braver.
Our Tomes hovered at our sides, pages fluttering gently with magic energy—ready to remind us of any incantation and abilities we might forget in the heat of battle.
We sprinted toward the clone, focused and ready. The opposing team had also begun their sprint, racing toward the clone just as we were.
We were only steps away from the center, ready to snatch the green flag.
Then—suddenly—a voice echoed across the battlefield.
It was Dahlia—she was the one running toward the Clone. The one who could manipulate memory. She was already chanting her incantation, her hands began to glow with a soft cyan light color and her amulet lit up to match.
The glow pulsed gently, growing brighter as she raised her hand to use her ability.
I realized something. Dahlia wasn't heading for the clone.
She pretended to charge at the clone, but her real target was Clifton.
"Seize and Break the path of thought, I sever now this stream of mind."
"Memory Snare!"
Ability explanation:
(Memory Snare is a Memory Manipulation ability that disrupt and targets a person's short-term memory, temporarily halting their awareness of the present. When cast, it interferes with the neural flow of recent information, causing the target to momentarily "blank out"—leaving them mentally frozen and physically immobilized for a short duration.)
Clifton was caught off guard—just like me, he thought Dahlia was going for the flag.
He stepped back to avoid her left hand, but didn't expect the right.
It landed hard—fast, precise, and full of Magic energy.
Her ability struck Clifton's head—his mind was caught.
He froze in place, completely immobilized, as if his thoughts had been locked away.
"Hurry, Akame! I can only hold it for a short duration!" she shouted, her voice tight with panic.
To be continued...
