Inside the bustling restaurant. Jaden Yuki sat at a corner table, wolfing down a bowl of chashu ramen. Yubel floated beside him, arms crossed. Looking at the young man who seemed to have reincarnated as a starving ghost, a hint of a smile appeared on Yubel's lips.
"It's only when you're eating that I see you act your age." Yubel said with a touch of melancholy. Although many things had changed, Jaden Yuki was still Jaden Yuki after all. Excellent drawing luck, a bottomless stomach, and a naturally mischievous side. Even after awakening as the Supreme King, he still couldn't escape some of his inherent traits.
"Phew." Placing his empty bowl on the table, Jaden let out a satisfied sigh.
The Duelist Kingdom restaurant in Domino City. Although the prices were quite high, the taste of the food was indeed very much to Jaden's liking. This bowl of chashu ramen was nearly 900 Japanese Yen. The generous portion size was fairly worth its price. In a city where prices were generally higher, and located on the most bustling commercial street outside of Duel Academy, this was already considered very affordable.
Beep, beep, beep…
Jaden, who was just opening a bottle of soda, heard his phone ringing in his pocket. He picked up his phone, saw the caller ID, sighed, and answered the call.
"Hello."
"Jaden boy, I suppose you've already dealt with that dark duelist, haven't you?" It was Pegasus. The president of Industrial Illusions, far away, seemed to take dark duels very seriously.
"Hmm, but that person wasn't exactly a dark duelist… rather, he was just a fraud using the guise of dark dueling to swindle people." Jaden Yuki gulped down a bottle of soda, then let out a contented sigh.
"Oh? Is that so…?" Pegasus was stunned for a moment, but then continued, "Thank you for your trouble, Jaden boy. Is there anything you'd like as a reward?"
"A reward, huh…" Jaden thought for a moment.
A year ago, he had won the junior division championship in the professional league. The total prize money was 20 million Japanese Yen, roughly 1 million RMB. Half of it he gave to his parents, and the other half Jaden Yuki kept for himself. So, he wasn't lacking money at all.
His Duel Disk was the latest limited edition model developed by Kaiba Corp. that year, capable of handling various dueling environments and possessing a wide array of functions. It was a model that simply couldn't be compared to any other Duel Disk currently on the market. So, Jaden wasn't lacking this either.
"Cards." After thinking for a moment, Jaden Yuki spoke. "I hope Mr. Pegasus can help me create some new Heroes." Jaden Yuki stated.
The Jaden Yuki of today uses the Masked Hero deck from the manga, which was Jaden Yuki's late-game deck. It was a highly offensive, high-ceiling combo deck that utilized the Quick-Play Spell Card, Mask Change, to switch between different forms. Although this deck was powerful, it lacked a certain degree of self-preservation. Jaden liked to pack his deck with countless trap cards for dirty plays. However, these trap cards didn't have very high synergy with the Quick-Play Masked Heroes.
This also led to Jaden, despite a winning streak in the professional league that year, not being particularly happy with his victories. Because they ended too quickly, he didn't get the satisfaction of tormenting his opponents. So, Jaden wanted some new Heroes that could strengthen his current deck and make it more comprehensive.
Pegasus on the other end of the line was silent for a moment. Then, he burst out laughing.
"Hahahaha, Jaden boy, I didn't expect you to be so persistent about new cards."
"However… in recent years, I've clearly felt that the card spirits often go berserk."
"Jaden boy, I can't guarantee when the new cards you want can be created."
Each card had its own unique card spirit sealed within it. And in the dueling world, creating a card was by no means as simple as just turning on a printing press and printing out the card. First, the card had to have a corresponding dueling spirit. Secondly, the power of this dueling spirit had to be usable by humans. This was also why, after Jaden submitted his Hero cards when he was a child, Industrial Illusions spent a full year creating them.
"Ah, I see…" Jaden responded, then slowly hung up the phone. In truth, Jaden wasn't particularly anxious about when the new Heroes would arrive. What he was more concerned about was what Pegasus had just said.
'The card spirits often go berserk…'
Jaden frowned deeply.
"Is it because the Supreme King's power is starting to awaken?" Yubel said with a faint smile beside him.
The Supreme King. A king who enslaved the Spirit World for thousands of years with absolute tyrannical power. As Jaden's Supreme King power continued to awaken, perhaps the Spirit World was already in chaos.
