At this point, Necrozma was utterly dumbfounded.
Maybe it was divine arrogance—or maybe blind trust in a "kindred spirit"—but Necrozma never imagined that its own "other half" would betray it.
Worse still, that half was shamelessly using its power, fighting over control like they were bickering over a remote—and not even letting her do what she was supposed to!
If this were a game, the scene would play out like this:
"Necrozma used Photon Geyser!"
"But Necrozma turned its head away! The attack failed!"
A true homage to the legendary disobedient Charizard.
The worst part? She really couldn't do a thing about Lana.
Even if Necrozma's true form was ten, no, nine times more powerful than Lana, in this weird "co-occupancy" mode, they had equal authority. It was basically a two-person parliamentary system.
If Necrozma had the right to launch attacks, then Lana had the right to choose the target—and vice versa.
So all she could do was flail around in the sky like some captured tsundere girl in a visual novel, shrieking in frustration:
"You worthless Lana! Are you even sane?!"
"If we just capture that Pokémon, then you can do whatever you want after that, got it?! Why can't you understand something so simple, you idiot?!"
"Ughhhh—damn it! Get your act together, Lana!"
But no matter how passionately she tried to reason with her, Lana stubbornly stuck to her own will. No one could sway her.
And so, Necrozma had no choice but to keep fighting herself in midair, locked in a chaotic internal struggle.
The barrage of uncontrolled psychic power shot out in all directions—like Lusamine's water-type attacks during one of her emotional breakdowns—tearing the island to shreds.
She even managed to blast a completely innocent Gladion into the distance along with his Pokémon, "Type: Null."
What could he do? The gap between a tier-two and a tier-one deity was wider than that between Mega-Loudred and regular Loudred. Even a manmade tier-two god like Type: Null was no exception.
It was only several seconds later that the two finally reached an agreement again.
Or more precisely—Necrozma unilaterally compromised.
She really couldn't deal with this lunatic anymore. Lana simply refused to negotiate. So, fine—let her finish her little "revenge drama" first.
After that, Necrozma would just catch Cosmog and be done with it.
It was just a matter of time anyway. Sooner or later, the power of the sun and moon would belong to her.
As for the searing pain of losing her light? Honestly, she could endure it for a bit longer.
Meanwhile, Haru stood below, watching the scene unfold, wanting to say something but not sure how to begin.
Maybe… he was cursed?
Every divine or mythical Pokémon he came across seemed to be a complete mess.
Sure, Mew had an impressive battle record—even against tier-two deities or Ultra Beasts, she could still wipe the floor with them in seconds.
But her two most "serious" plans had both spiraled wildly out of control. Reality kept flipping her director's script, and botched schemes had become business as usual.
And Flutter Mane? Don't even start.
Despite being a Paradox Pokémon with strength comparable to tier-two legends, Flutter Mane was just a socially anxious coward…
If more than five people were around, she'd freeze up like a startled Deerling. Forget battling—she couldn't even show her face.
Originally, Haru thought it was just bad luck with these two. Surely the other gods would be more dignified.
And then Necrozma—or more accurately, Lana-zma went and shattered that illusion all over again.
Sure, the Ultra Beasts invading Alola were incredibly dangerous—even Haru needed Mew and Flutter Mane to stay safe—but he couldn't shake this bizarre sense of powerlessness…
It felt like completing a grueling journey for enlightenment, only to discover that the sacred texts were just fanfiction about fluffy dairy cows.
That said, thanks to Mew's Earth Power, Haru did manage to rescue Lusamine from the swarm of Nihilego.
Not an easy feat—even for Mew, fending off that many Ultra Beasts was no joke. The sheer number was starting to reach critical mass.
Unfortunately, just as Lillie was starting to feel hope, Lana-zma struck again like lightning.
"Photon Geyser!"
"Riiinoh!!!"
This time, she finally locked onto her target. And since her opponent included a Mythical Pokémon, she didn't hold back—she went all out.
The worst part? Mew was still dealing with the ever-multiplying Ultra Beasts, so Haru had to handle the god-tier nuke on his own.
And the only Pokémon he had left… was Flutter Mane.
Could Flutter Mane… really win?
He glanced at the trembling "oversized Misdreavus" in his Poké Ball, and unease crept up his spine.
There were simply too many Ultra Beasts now—far beyond anything the anime or games had ever portrayed.
Could all of this have been part of Necrozma's plan? No… it didn't quite add up either.
This couldn't go on. If he got pincered between Necrozma and the Ultra Beasts, he'd definitely die here.
Damn it… If only he had four or five tier-one gods on hand, he wouldn't be in this mess.
He just wasn't strong enough.
That realization struck him in a fraction of a millisecond. And the moment he snapped back to reality, the light sphere—capable of devouring everything—had already launched from "Lana's" hands.
He'd die. If it landed, he'd definitely die.
"Flutter Mane, use Shadow Ball with everything you've got! Smash that thing apart!"
At this critical moment, even Flutter Mane—paralyzed by anxiety as she was—summoned her courage and stepped forward, firing off the strongest Ghost-type attack she had.
To protect the one she cared about, she couldn't afford to lose.
But her opponent this time wasn't just another throwaway enemy…
The two orbs devoured and obliterated everything in their paths. Even solid rock caught in the blast was pulverized to dust. The power of a god was on full display.
And yet, this was just a casual attack.
Even though Flutter Mane fought with everything she had, Necrozma remained an insurmountable force.
Facing this apocalyptic scene, Lillie—barely managing to stay upright with Haru and Lusamine's support—raised her voice against the freezing wind and cried out to the sky:
"Lana… why? Why are you doing this?!"
"Weren't you someone full of love? Why have you become like this?!"
"I thought we could be friends… but you…"
Perhaps it was disappointment—or perhaps it was heartbreak—but for once, Lillie's voice carried more than just fear. This time… it carried the sting of accusation.
