Chapter 8 - Chase What You Love More

In first period, Willow sat on the other side of Moro. Meanwhile, Uvie sat to his left with an awkward expression. The teacher gave out a lot of group projects. More so than individual projects. And already, on the second day, he was giving another. They would need to get into groups of 4 and make a slideshow presentation about how to take down a random red ranked kudo he'd give to them with only yellow and green ranked kudos. And they would have all the class time from this point forward till the end of next week to work on it.

With just a glance, Moro and Uvie paired up with each other. Meanwhile, on his side, Willow continued to smirk at him. She licked her lips while looking at him. "So cute."

"Willow if I said n-"

"If you think you can reject me, you're dead."

"... Well, that makes 3 members, I suppose."

"Excuse me," said a voice from above him in front of his desk. "Can I be your partner?" Moro looked up. It was a young man with dark brown skin and black hair that lightly covered his golden eyes. He wore a black graphic t-shirt with a white stylized logo on the chest, tucked into dark blue jeans with a belt. He wore a silver watch, a pendant necklace, a small earring, and carried a black shoulder bag with a thick chain strap.

"Sure. We need one more member anyways."

This was Lymth, Milk's cousin. Though the two acted like complete strangers. Lymth sat down with the 3 of them. He started to take as he did that, Willow tried to grab Moro's hand, but Eternity spawned in and grabbed his hand. Willow looked like she was about to murder someone.

"Willow, you know I love Eternity, right?" Moro said while clutching her hand. "She is the love of my life, and I will marry her someday. You aren't in the picture, unfortunately."

"But why, though? What does she have that I don't?!"

"The ability to give personal space, cooking, cleaning, calls me master, has large boobs... Shall I go on?"

"Can we focus on the project, please?" asked Lymth. He turned to Uvie. "Does this always happen?"

"Only when Willow's around."

The teacher came over and gave them their monster to defeat. And it was an Anubis, Eternity's kudo breed.

"Oh, this is going to be interesting." Moro said.

"Master, I could write this project for you. I know my own strengths and weaknesses."

"No, it's fine. It's a group project anyway."

"Though, do tell. What are your weaknesses?" asked Willow.

Eternity looked down on her. "Drop dead."

The day continued. Moro was walking to his next period, and he finally managed to get away from Willow. But when he walked outside to go across campus to his next class, he found Lymth, who was sitting at a table. He looked depressed.

Moro walked over to him. "Everything good, man?"

"No. You know that Kurega who attacked the city earlier today?"

"Yeah."

"Well, on the way to school afterwards, there were these protests going on that the city should become an outlaw city."

Outlaw cities were rare in today's society. But they weren't cities and towns that banned the possession and use of kudos. Anyone who had one would either have to leave or be thrown in jail.

"Well, that's stupid. That kurega was untamed. Imagine if an untamed red ranked army attacked the city and no one had any kudos to defend it. It would be like using sticks to fight someone with a gun."

"But that doesn't stop people from only seeing the negative and not thinking about the full picture."

"Well, that's humans. But kudos add way more to human lives than they take away. But why are you upset about this?"

"Because both my parents sided with them?"

"Oh..."

"I'm the only person in my household who actually liked kudos. But my family won't let me possess any. They tell me if I do, they'll kick me out."

"Damn, that brought buddy. Why don't we get you one?"

"Did... did you not just hear me?"

"A lot of times, you'll need to cast your family aside to chase your dreams. I may not know you well, Lymth, but I've seen how you move. You have all those personal books full of kudo knowledge. Your love for Kudo is evident."

"Even if I did, what would I do then? My parents would disown me."

"Then let me ask you this. Which do you love more? Your parent or kudos."

"..."

"Think long and hard about this. Once you know the answer to that, and something tells me you already know, then come back to me."

And with that, Moro walked off. It was a few minutes before Moro's next class. He was met outside it by Calvin. "Hey, dude, can I ask you for some help?"

"Uh, sure."

"At my family's bakery, we're a member short, since my brother was hurt in the kurega attack earlier today. Could you and Eternity come by so she could help us?"

"Oh, no problem. I wasn't doing anything important later today anyways."
