Chapter 12 - shiki

Kiato's dream

Shaking, trembling and worn out kiato stood Hinoyuki in hand, s mixture of sweet and blood rolled down from his body, his breath was fast like he struggled to get oxyegn.

A dark high ranked flame knight stood before kiato, his cloak were on noble clothing, hair tied up in a perfect bun, heat scourging almost like the sun itself stood blade drawn opposite Kaito.

The ground he stood was like a boxing arena, around it surrounded with hit blooded laughing and down casting kiato,

"He walked to death and called it love" some said.

Fro som others thay hailed as one name echoing continously form their voice,

Fire lord..

Beside the battlefield a large quantity of gold sat in a plate, it appearance seem to feel pity for kiato.

Then a furious voice echoed from front of him,

The dark flame knight.

Haveing no face just a head, no mouth either but somehow it communicated,

"You choose to be useless, I'll evolve that gole for you"

Flash step

The dark figure was already in front of him blade swinging towards his neck,

Kiato's tired to move but his body was already paralysed, so many taught rang up in his head overwhelming him,

"Why did I ever choose you" Hinoyuki

"You are a waste product" Gindrick

"You killed me" Vera

"You are not worth the sacrifice" Merlin

"Who's this looser" Gosen

"I Curse the day love was born" Azura.

In reality

Kiato struggled to come out turning both left and right in his bed,

Smark..

Veylor hit is head cruelly with a pillow multiple times,

He exhaled sharply,

his chest collapsing into a soft Whoosh, breath finally breaking free as he sproted up from the bed then fully really realising it was a dream.

"You idiot, so you are day dream now"

Veylor scolded staring at him, his gaze slightly worried.

Kiato sat back on the bed face buried unto up his hands,

"You got a problem?", Veylor asked, but yet no reply from Kaito.

Letting silence flow veylor walked out of the room as he reminded,

"Make sure to make it ion time for class",

With that he left allowing kiati to his resolve,

Having the room to himself kiato let out his frustration,

"Non of that is happening" he roared slamming his hands to the bed,

"I'm not useless"

"Azura...."

He fell short of words, then his mind brought in part of the message,

"Who was the dark figure up against me?"

He stayed still for some time lip curled into his mouth trying to puzzle out the maths,

The silence allowed him hear the tick of the clock reminding him that he's running late.

Then he sprouted up,

"I'll just have to win who ever I'm up against, I'll prove you all wrong".

Then he turned, picked his towel has his gaze met Niva still sleeping, he let out a small smile them headed for the bathroom.

From the shadows, a pair of golden eyes observed the whispered with a voice otherworldly,

"That's it kiato, etch for more power and mature, i cant wait to eat you"

Then it vanished unseen and untraceable.

At the class room

Everyone sat waiting chatting while for Mr. Gosen,

kiato walked I'm few minutes behind normal time schedule only to notice the rowdiness of the class,

"Where is Mr Gosen?". He asked himself, becoming stronger was all that mattered to him right now,

Pushed by both determination and instincts,.

He walked to the pulpit where me gosen normally stands, there he found a note written and signed by Mr Gosen.

"Attention please" he called out, all eyes now fixed on him, with varying taughts.

"This a note from Mr Gosen"

"You had that all through!?" Ravien smarked

"No I just found it on the pulpit" kiato reply was polite.

"What does it say?" lior demanded

Kiato's fixed his gaze at the note, before he could start reading a voice rang from the crowd,

"You are reading Mr Gosen note try to represent him"

A short smile passed the face of many, others laughing.

Kiato smiled freeing up his mind a little, he walked just behind the pulpit then he bend lowering his hight his assumed hight of Mr Gosen then he cleared his voice dramatically, eyes first scanning through the students then he amplified his resembling that of Mr Gosen, then he stated,

To All Gallus frostblades,

"Clap..."

Shears erupted from the arena, a voice rang out,

"Nice go kiato"

It was seraphina.

She walked towards him while many other set out for the Glacien Yard, some others picking up a duel.

"You sounded almost just like him" she appraised

Kiato noticed the simile on her so lould she didn't hold back,

"Seems you're in an extremely good mood today" he smarked

"Yahh but my Tommy isn't "

Kiato let out more smile,

"Actually I'm also hungry" he paused going into taught for a short while,

"We're both winners right?"

"Yahh" she answered,

"Then let's get our selves something,"

"Alright". Seraphina smarked, deep in her taught she said to her self

It's now or never

They headed for the door but where stoped half way by veylor,

"I was looking forward to training with you, and besides where are you going with her?"

Kiato's eyes met Seraphina's then he replied,

"We're actually going to the Azure dining hall"

"Veylor's eye's narrowed but kiato knew what he was think,

You denied me thay position

"Don't worry I'll bring half of my ration to you"

Veylor dropped a half smile,

"have you way",

but his eyes pierced through Seraphina's eyes as they walked pass.

She's always on him

He taught , buy let it pass by.

"I have better things to worry about"

The Azure Dining Hall

Unusually, the hall was completely empty. Not a single voice echoed, no clatter of cutlery or chatter of students filled the air. It was quiet—eerily so. Kiato and Seraphina walked together to the far right end, where the kitchen glowed dimly with blue lantern-light. The scent of roasted herbs lingered faintly, a leftover trace from the dinner hour.

The silence between them wasn't awkward. It was calm. Measured. And Kiato liked it that way. He had begun to notice the glimmer in Seraphina's eyes each time they met his—something warm, curious, and veiled with hope. He said nothing. Didn't dare say anything.

At the serving counter, they helped themselves quietly. Kiato ladled a bowl of steamed fireroot stew and paired it with golden-baked bread. Seraphina, ever graceful, chose roasted turkey slices glazed with frostberry honey, and a side of sage rice with a twist of lemon zest.

They sat across from each other at a long table near the frosted windows, the moonlight pooling in through stained azure glass. Kiato dipped his bread into the broth, lost in thought.

Then Seraphina leaned slightly forward and, without a word, offered him a small portion of her turkey—right from her own spoon.

Kiato froze for a second. He hadn't asked. He didn't want to seem ungrateful, but the gesture… it felt intimate, too deliberate. He hesitated, but the look in her eyes made it impossible to decline. So he accepted it, quietly, politely, and tasted it with a soft nod of thanks. Still, a tightness settled in his chest.

Azura. Her name echoed quietly within him like a vow wrapped in fire and snow. He remembered the promise. To protect her. To return. To love only her. And yet here was Seraphina, offering more than food—offering fragments of her heart, piece by piece, in silence.

As they ate, Seraphina glanced at him again, this time not looking away. Her voice, when it finally came, was soft. Vulnerable.

"Do you ever think about time, Kiato? Not the kind marked by clocks or calendars… but the kind we feel passing. The kind that slips between moments like this… when you're not sure if you want it to go faster or just… freeze."

Kiato looked up, surprised by the weight in her tone.

She went on, "I feel like… some days, I want to hold time still. Just to stay in certain moments. Like this one. With you."

Kiato blinked, his heart stumbling in his chest. He wasn't ready for this—not now, not with the ghosts of his promise burning just behind his eyes. His fingers tightened around the warm bowl in front of him, unsure what to say. He didn't want to shatter her heart. But he couldn't betray Azura either.

Seraphina's eyes searched his face, the silence returning—but heavier now. Full of questions.

Kiato looked down, torn.

What will Kiato give as an answer?
