Chapter 11 - Local Delicacy

A dragon on the menu was one thing he wasn't expecting to see, but by this point he still wasn't sure. I mean he didn't know the other names either, why is it that this one so specifically reminded him of a dragon, so he went and asked Jack.

"Hey...so I am looking at this menu, and most of the dishes or ingredients don't make any sense to me. Could you help a bit?"

"Sure, Helios I will help you." Jack answered reluctantly

"So for example this 'Draco' noted here, does it have anything to do with a certain flying lizard?"

"Oh wow, Helios you were actually able to guess it, I'm so proud of you."

Jack said in a rather mocking tone then continued.

"You are right, the 'Draco' listed there is indeed dragon meat."

"Really? You are actually not playing with me?"

"I am not, why the suspicion?"

"Then, I guess I'll go with this."

"Great choice."

Jack reassured Helios in service person like tone, which made Helios's suspicion even greater, but his curiosity still got the best of him. He had to try it, just to be sure.

Soon a waitress came by their table to take their order.

"Have you decided on your order?"

Jack was the first to answer despite Helios's eagerness to try the famed dragon meat.

"I'll take the usual Paprika Kakas please."

"Ok, one Paprika Kakas...."

"And I'll take this one.." Helios said as he pointed to the item on the menu, not even daring to try to pronounce its name.

"Are you sure sir, it's one of our less usual items."

"It's dragon meat right?"

"Yes it is, but...."

"Then it will be fine, thank you."

Next after taking their order of drinks, the waitress returned back to the kitchen to report on the orders.

After about ten minutes of waiting, two plates were carried out by that very same waitress.

On one of the plates was a nicely cooked piece of same bird, it looked similiar to chicken, but Helios kind of figured it wasn't that.

But on the other plate was something entirely different. It was piece of meat so obscene looking Helios didn't know if it was even appropriate to look at, but before he realised it it was already sitting in front of him on the table.

'What the hell is this, no I know what this is, but why is it here, WHAT IS DICK DOING ON MY TABLE?'

Looking at it was indeed just that, it was a giant penis. Helios was having none of it, but the tense atmosphere was quickly interrupted by the sound of laughter.

It was coming from the other side of the table.

"Ahahha....seriously why are you making that face hahaha..you wanted dragon meat well there you have it..haha."

It seems Jack wasn't lying, he just left out an important detail. Like what part of the dragon it was.

"You want me to eat this?!?"

Thanks to Helios screaming and Jack laughing they were starting to gather the attention of others nearby.

"Ha..we should quiet down. We are starting to make a scene."

"But..what the hell is this?"

"Listen Helios, that is dragon meat, yes it is its penis, but still, I've heard from others that it's actually pretty good."

"Don't try to console me now, not when you were the one who got me into this mess in the first place."

"Hey, now don't go accusing me of things I've never done. You asked me a simple question, I gave you simple answer that is all."

Helios finally finding it in himself to cool down took another look at the dish, but this time he did it with determination. Then he turned to Jack and said the following.

"Okay, I'll try this, but you will have to try it too."

"Why are you trying to bring me into this mess, in the first place I'm the one who's paying for this, since you have no money."

"Ahhh...seriously.."

Helios was upset, but couldn't exactly retort with anything either, since he did indeed have no money at all.

With being left with no choice and having already starved for a few hours, he knew he had to atleast give this odd dish a try. So with full determination he sunk his fork and knife into if and cut a small piece of meat off.

As he was slowly raising the fork toward his mouth, for a moment he wanted to rethink things, but he still went through with it and put it in his mouth.

The meat was chewy, but thanks to the various spices used it actually tasted pretty okay. It wasn't really that, good not something he would ever eat again, but just for this one occasion he felt he could eat it.

About twenty minutes later, he was shocked to find himself having eaten most of it.

"Well, Helios congrats, now you possess the strength of a dragon."

"For some reason, I really doubt that actually is the case."

"Well some believe that to be the case, anyways... was it actually good?"

"Not really, but it wasn't that bad either, still I probably wouldn't eat it again."

"Sure you do you I guess."

As the two were finished with their meal they only had to wait to pay. Thankfully the waitress quickly came and they were able to pay.

"The total will be 800 remmies."

Jack quickly counted the money from his wallet and handed it to the waitress. With that the two were done with their meal and were ready to leave the restaurant. As they got out of the restaurant Helios was the first to ask a question.

"So where are we going next?"

"To my family house."

"We are going to the Phoenix family's house?"

"Yes, I should also be able to grant you guest housing for today."

"Just for today?"

"Since you'll be accepting their offer I expect them to give you free housing, and some money to start things. You won't have to rely on me for everything."

With that their next destination was decided, they would be going to the noble house of Phoenix. For that they needed to go back to the top floor where it was located.

As the two were on their way to the house, Helios was the first to break the silence.

"Since you made me eat that thing, you'll have to pay me back by answering my questions."

"They are gonna be about the city and this world right? Sure fire away."

"First of all, why is it so dark outside when we it should still be day time."

"Starting of strong, huh? Rem city is the place where the Goddess Remia's powers are strongest, so the night is entirely done by her powers, mostly symbolically to show that this is the city of the night."

"Okay, next why are there multiple levels and why are most things made out of marble."

"The levels are just a design choice as far as I'm concerned, but the marbles are done as a form of worship for the goddess since it is the most moon like of the available building materials."

"Do I also have to become a beliver of the goddess, if I'm gonna be a citizen?"

"Guess you should, but believer isn't really the right word to use."

"Why?"

"Since the goddess does exist, its not just some belief, it is just a fact. So rather than believing in her you should just trust her."

"Okay....guess that's all I can't really think of any other questions for now."

"That's good, since we've just arrived."

Jack said as he showed the large building before them, it was a mansion, much like what you'd see rich people and nobles own in media.

"Welcome home, Master Jack"

Said a nicely dressed middle aged gentlemen assumingly, the butler of the household.

"I've heard that you would be coming back, so I have been eagerly awaiting your arrival master."

"I'm pleased Sebastian. Please notify father that we will be having a guest for tonight."

"Certainly."

With all that done the two made their way inside the household.

"You don't look like it at most times, but I guess you really are noble."

Helios remarked as Jack's household and butler trully impressed him.

"What do you mean? I'm always noble like."

The two finally arrived at the door to the main building, it was grand and imposing, on it stood the picture of a phoenix signifying the household's standing.

They through these doors, and what welcomed them was a grand entrance, with two flights of stair in the middle all leading to the buildings second floor.

Suddenly a large number of servants appeared as if to welcome the return of Jack, but that's not what was happening, they were merely making way for someone else coming from one of the corridors on the side.

Soon as the servants got into their position they all quieted down, to Helios's surprise even Jack seemed to be unusually silent.

Whoever was coming down that corridor must have been someone so important, that even Jack didn't dare to mistakenly displease them.

In the next moment Helios tried to look at who was, this mysterious person, but before he could look to the corridor. He felt a sudden gust of wind flash past him.

Helios instinctively tried to move his head in the winds direction but before he could he felt the cold touch of steel on his neck.

Then he heard a sudden deep voice from behind him.

"Who are you? Why can you still move?"
