Chapter 17 - THE BROADCAST WAR

Saturday – 6:15 A.M. | Encrypted Channell: Untraceable Stream

The screen flickered to life across stolen feeds, underground terminals, and outlawed networks. Rick's face appeared — raw, unfiltered, tired.

> "They call me a weapon. A clone. A threat."

"But I'm none of those things. I'm just… a son who lost his mother. A man trying to honor a promise."

His voice cracked.

> "Widow created a copy of me. Cleaner, sharper, quieter — not better. Just controlled."

Ava's hands trembled as she monitored viewership spikes.

Kael grinned.

"Four hundred thousand hits in the first fifteen minutes. People are listening."

7:32 A.M. | Hollow Bridge Headquarters – Director's Quarters

Widow stared at the screen, impassive as ever.

Clone Rick stood beside her, face unreadable.

"He's emotional," Widow said.

"Unstable. But dangerous."

Clone Rick tilted his head.

"The public likes emotion."

Widow's eyes narrowed.

"Stay on script."

Underground Safehouse – Rick's Camp

Ava and Kael monitored global responses. Public sentiment was split — #RealRick and #PerfectFyer both trending.

"You've ignited something," Ava said.

Rick barely nodded.

"Now we stoke it."

Kael raised an eyebrow.

"We need someone inside. Someone who still has Hollow Bridge clearance."

Ava hesitated.

Then she reached for her satchel and pulled out an old ID badge.

"I know someone."

Afternoon – Suburb District | House of Juno Drey

Juno Drey, Ava's old friend from her analyst days, lived quietly under a false name. She opened the door slowly, eyes wide as she recognized the faces.

"Ava… you're supposed to be dead."

"Funny, that's what they say about us all."

Inside, Juno listened to their plan.

"If I help you access the mainframe… Widow will erase me."

"Or you help rewrite the truth." Rick said.

A long pause.

Juno nodded.

"Alright. But I want one thing in return."

"Name it."

"Tell the world what really happened at Eden Terminal."

Silence fell.

Ava looked at Rick.

Even Kael glanced away.

Eden Terminal l – Classified Past

It was the mission that broke the world.

And Rick had been there.

Alone.

The day thousands died from an unauthorized neural test.

Evening – Broadcast Studio B (Clone Rick's Live Interview)

Lights blazed. Clone Rick sat in a crisp suit, every movement rehearsed.

The host smiled.

"You've been through so much. What keeps you going?"

> "Duty. And the belief that we are all capable of becoming our best selves, no matter the cost."

The crowd clapped.

But someone in the control room gasped.

Another feed had overridden the channel.

Rick — the real one — appeared on screen, bruised, uncut.

"Duty isn't about lying to people. And becoming your best self isn't about being rewritten."

Chaos erupted.

Final Scene– Mirror Confrontation

In a government lounge, Clone Rick watched the footage. Alone.

He touched the screen with quiet curiosity.

"Why do I… feel that pain too?"

Behind him, Widow entered silently.

"Because even copies inherit shadows."

He turned.

"Then maybe I'm more than just a tool."

Her hand twitched.

She didn't respond.
