Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 : New life begins

I arrived at the guild. The guild was crowded with people. There are many new quests in the guild every day come.

Due to the presence of different types of magical beasts, slime, orc, etc. in the forest, people often face losses. For example, slime or magical beasts damage human farms for their food. Orcs who take cattle and chickens from human farms for their food.

To get rid of all these problems, people give quests to the guild. A price is assigned to that quest. If someone can complete that quest then he is given that money. As a result the quest applicant gets the benefit and the quest completer also earns some money. And that is give and take rule.

But a man cannot complete the quest as he wishes, there are some limitations. There are several categories of Adventurers. They have rank. Those who are new adventurers will not be able to take any difficult quest. They have to take easy quests. Even if the amount of money in easy quest is less, they have to take that easy quest. Because there is no life risk in easy quest. But in the difficult quest lives are at stake.

The ranks of Adventurers are:

Rank S+

Rank S

Rank A

Rank B

Rank C

Rank D

Rank F

Those who are new Adventurers, their rank starts from Rank F. Then their rank gradually increased. The lowest level is Rank F and the highest level is Rank S+. Adventurers of Rank S+ always complete Boss level quests.

However, I am new, so I will first officially become an adventurer from the Guild, then I will gradually increase my rank by completing quests. After reaching the Guild counter, I saw a girl sitting at the counter. Since that counter was not crowded, I went to that counter.

"Hi, how can I help you?"

"I want to be an adventurer. I am new here so I have no idea about this. Can you help me about this."

"If you want to be an adventurer then fill this form."

I filled the form then I was given a guild card from the guild. My Rank F was written there. Then I went to see the quest on the board. From there I went with a quest to fulfill that quest.

This is how I started a new chapter in my life as an Adventurer.

I am going to a place called Shimura to complete my first quest from the quest board.

My first quest is to eliminate the Flying Slime. This quest was requested by a farmer. Since his land is close to the forest, flying slimes have been damaging his crops. Flying slimes are rarely seen. Although they do not harm humans, they do cause damage to crops.

I have reached Shimura. This place has miles and miles of crop fields. The golden-colored crops shine like gold.

I arrived at the farmer's field—the one who requested the quest. Towards the far end of the field, many crops had been eaten by the flying slimes.

The flying slimes were about 12 inches in size. They don't have claws or sharp teeth, so there was no risk of me getting hurt. I eliminated them using my sword. In total, I took down about 27 flying slimes.

After killing the slimes, I collected the stones they left behind and placed them in a bag. These stones need to be taken to the guild as proof. Once I hand them over, the guild will know that I've completed the quest.

After receiving my payment, I returned to my inn. I wasn't hungry, so I fell asleep without eating.

I woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of something breaking outside. There's an alley beside the inn where I'm staying. The alley is clearly visible from the balcony of my room. After waking up, I went to stand on the balcony and saw a man walking through the alley. I couldn't see him clearly, as it was dark. His body was covered with a black sheet.

I felt suspicious about the man, but since it was so late, I went back to sleep without thinking much of it. After breakfast, I went to the guild again. It was still early in the morning, so there weren't many people around.

The guild workers were putting up new quests on the board. I went over to check them out. That's when I saw a new quest.

The quest read:

"Late at night, a man has been seen walking through different streets at different times. Even when called out to, he does not respond. He vanishes in the blink of an eye. A request has been made to investigate this matter."

I saw that adventurers of any rank could take this quest. So, I accepted it.

I took this quest because I was curious about it.

This was the second quest I accepted.
