CHAPTER 20 INHERITANCE OF THE HIGHER REALMS

Looking at Yohan, who had already finished eating, Uncle Dan changed his plans. He decided it would be better to discuss his next course of action the following day.

The next morning, while the others were still asleep, Yohan was already up, doing his early exercises. Though they didn't do much for his strength, they helped clear his mind. When he returned, he saw Stacy and Uncle Dan at the dining table. After cleaning up, he joined them and had breakfast.

The next few days passed leisurely. Yohan spent time relaxing and playing with Stacy. At one point, he was even tempted to take her into his domain. Although he still didn't know why the school had permitted him to go on this journey, he had made good use of the time, and he was prepared to return before the deadline.

"I believe you're aware that the time granted by Lancelot High ends tomorrow," Uncle Den said calmly.

"I believe you know," he repeated more slowly, "that the time given to you is about to run out."

He looked at Yohan seriously. "I've been observing your physique. Frankly, being a Mage Epic doesn't suit you. It's a waste of your talent. That dormant energy inside you—it will go unused in the academy. They won't be able to help you unlock it. That's why… I'll be giving you some techniques your parents left behind. Techniques that not even the academy—or perhaps anyone else in the world—knows about. Except me… and a few other disciples."

He walked to the bookshelf and pulled one of the books slightly forward. The entire shelf split open, revealing a large chamber filled with neatly arranged books and scrolls.

The room was divided by type: movement techniques, fist techniques, sword, spear, and others. Yohan was taken aback. Not only by the secret room but by the appearance of the manuals—ancient tomes, not digital devices or holographic tablets.

"I know what you want to ask," Uncle Den said, noticing his expression. "Why aren't these on devices? You'll get used to it. Your stepparents had things others envied. Why do you think Stacy still lives here, even though she's well and free to leave?"

Before Yohan could reply, a voice cut in.

Uncle Dennis spoke even before Johan had the chance to speak.

But something felt wrong. Lucy was quiet—too quiet. Suddenly,

"Tha-a—at, how is this possible. These are cultivation techniques that originate from the upper worlds."

Her voice sounded broken. She paused often, as if struggling to speak.

"Lucy, are you all right?" Yohan asked mentally.

There was a silence. Then sobbing—soft, distant sobbing. Not of pain… but of joy, longing, and sadness.

"Those… those are cultivation manuals. They shouldn't exist in this lower realm," Lucy finally spoke. "They're from the higher realms. From where I once came."

Her words brought a new weight to the room.

"Stacy… who are your parents, really?" she asked, not expecting Yohan to reply.

Then, as if trying to distract herself, Lucy added:

"Oh, did I tell you one of the benefits I got after entering the domain? I re-awakened my divine sense. I can't release it properly in the outside world yet, but inside the domain, I can. That lets me do a lot of things."

She paused, then corrected herself.

"Actually… I can release it outside, within about a one-kilometer radius. That means I can detect anything in that range."

"That's cool," Yohan said, "but what do you mean by 'one of the benefits'? Are there more?"

"Yeah. The system leveled up—twice, actually. I'm now at Level 3. When I hit Level 2, I could appear before others, like a ghost. At Level 3, I could better condense my form, becoming more physical than spiritual. It's like going from a foggy image to something clear, more physical."

_"And now," she continued, excitedly, "with my divine sense, I can scan all the techniques here. That way, you don't have to waste time reading every one of them."

"That's… amazing," Yohan said, impressed.

"I'll buy you some time. I'll pretend to be browsing while you scan and memorize the rest," Yohan offered.

It took Yohan half a day to choose a few suitable manuals. Meanwhile, Lucy quietly stored all the others in the system and the system began the process of merging and modifying them to fit Yohan's unique physique and bloodlines.

The day of departure arrived quickly.

Stacy cried, but Yohan had to go. He promised her—once he was strong enough, he'd return for her.

Uncle Den led him to another room, where a hidden teleportation channel waited. With a flash of light, it sent Yohan to a small building in the city—Lancelot High's location.

Before leaving, Yohan asked one final question.

"Uncle Den… if this teleportation channel was here all along, why did I have to travel through that dangerous journey to reach you?"

Uncle Dan smiled knowingly. "The real test… wasn't when I attacked you. It was your ability to survive the journey, to overcome the road's challenges."

Yohan stood there in silence, realization dawning in his eyes. His breath trembled, and his eyes began to redden. Uncle Den's reply made Johan angry and annoyed, he almost couldn't suppress his instinct.

As he stepped into the building, Uncle Dan didn't follow. Yohan was alone now.

He had been instructed not to reveal the location of this building, nor the teleportation channel hidden inside.

And then… something changed.

As soon as he arrived, his eyes turned blood-crimson red. His body trembled. His breath grew heavier.

"Lucy… I need blood. My vampire bloodline is going out of control …"

Yohan staggered, leaning against the wall of the teleportation building. His eyes were still blood-red, and his breathing rough.

"What's happening to me…?"

Just then, Lucy's voice echoed weakly in his mind.

"Yohan… the blood… the blood you drank previously…"

"It was the only one I had."

Yohan clenched his teeth, feeling his pulse slow, his vision sharpening unnaturally.

"What do you mean?" he asked, trying to remain calm.

"That vial of blood... it wasn't for consumption since I never expected you to transform into a vampire," Lucy continued. "It was a backup—something I kept hidden. I only intended to use it in an emergency, if you were wounded… to keep you from losing too much blood."

Previously I only took some of your blood through the system. Any more could've risked damaging your foundation.

Yohan's breathing slowed as he tried to process everything. His fingernails had sharpened slightly. He could hear his heartbeat echoing with loud resounding beats….

"Since there's none, you have to get some from somewhere else," Johan muttered, his voice hoarse, breath ragged. His crimson eyes burned faintly beneath his lashes, struggling to stay focused.
