Shiki glanced at the corpses of the small-time pirates scattered across the ground, then waved his hand, signaling for the bodies to be cleared away.
Once the cleanup was complete, Shiki leaned back in his seat, eyes drifting toward the window where ferocious beasts prowled through the terrain below.
Seeing those monstrous creatures lifted his mood slightly. These beasts were the result of his years of effort. One day, he planned to unleash them into the world and let them wreak havoc.
Ever since his dream of ruling the world had been crushed, his heart had twisted into something darker than even these animals. All he wanted now was revenge against the World Government.
Suddenly, the ground beneath him began to tremble violently. A wave of weightlessness washed over him.
The floating island, named "Veilhay," was suspended in the sky thanks to his Fuwa Fuwa no Mi ability. Yet despite the power being active, the island had started to descend.
Shiki instinctively touched the rudder embedded in his head, wondering if his strength had weakened that much.
Boom!
With another thunderous crash, the entire island tilted sharply, and its descent quickened. Pirates across the island lost their balance, tumbling to the ground. Those near the edge slid off, disappearing into the clouds below with screams that echoed into nothing.
Shiki's expression twisted. He slammed both hands to the ground, pouring his energy into his ability in an effort to stabilize the island.
But all he managed was to slightly slow the fall. The island continued to plummet like a meteor, racing toward the sea below.
"Damn it! Another Devil Fruit user must be interfering!"
Shiki's face darkened. He lifted off the ground, soaring into the air to see for himself.
A Marine warship had appeared in the distance, its sails bearing a unique insignia. Shiki's eyes narrowed as he spotted the Marine standing at the bow, locking eyes with him.
He immediately sensed a powerful presence. This wasn't an ordinary officer. Whoever this Marine was, the Navy had sent him specifically to deal with Shiki. But how had they found his location?
Standing on the bow was none other than Chiga. With a calm smile, he raised one arm, aiming it at Shiki and the island.
A swirling black vortex began to form in his palm, growing in size until it resembled a washbasin.
Banshō Ten'in!
Buzz!
The air trembled. Shiki and the island were abruptly yanked downward by an overwhelming gravitational force. Desperately, Shiki reactivated his Devil Fruit power midair, but to his horror, his ability was completely overpowered.
He strained with all his might, barely able to shift his position from side to side. Just before slamming into the sea, he veered upward over the island — and then was slammed down, splayed out, crushed flat against the terrain.
Seconds later, the island crashed into the sea with a deafening crash.
Chiga stood at the bow, arms crossed, gazing out across the water. After a moment of silence, he spoke:
"Come out. Is that all your strength amounts to?"
No reply came from the sea. It seemed like he was talking to himself.
Shaking his head slightly, Chiga made a parting gesture toward the ocean. Instantly, the sea split open down the middle, revealing a spherical clump of earth about the size of a room.
The soil peeled away, revealing Shiki inside — pale and drenched, glaring furiously.
Just before impact, Shiki had wrapped himself in floating earth to avoid full submersion and the resulting paralysis. After hitting the water, he'd stayed hidden, hoping Chiga would leave so he could escape unnoticed.
He hadn't expected Chiga to see right through his plan.
The earth sphere around Shiki began to crack. Three lion heads emerged around him, roaring as they charged toward Chiga.
But Chiga's expression didn't change. With a simple thought, a ROOM unfolded around him.
The three lion heads vanished into thin air—then instantly reappeared right in front of Shiki.
His pupils contracted. With a growl, he lifted his leg and unleashed several air slashes, obliterating the lion heads before they could strike.
Though the threat was defused, he didn't relax. He still had no idea what Chiga's bizarre ability was.
But Shiki wasn't just any pirate—he was a legend. He knew panic was fatal.
He quickly composed himself. The sea below churned, taking shape once more. Several massive lion heads formed from water, each the size of a warship.
Seeing this, the corner of Chiga's mouth twitched. He wasn't alarmed—just mildly annoyed.
These oversized lion heads reminded him of someone from another world—a certain copy ninja named Kakashi, famous for his 50/50 gamble style.
That guy was always low on chakra, yet insisted on using Raikiri while monologuing. And every time he used Earth Release: Earth Wall, he carved dog heads into it. Supposedly it was due to borrowing chakra from his summon?
Shiki had no idea Chiga was thinking about Kakashi mid-battle.
He raised his hand, commanding the giant seawater lion heads to surge forward and engulf the warship.
To him, Chiga was young and untested. No matter how strange his powers were, if he was caught in seawater, he'd be finished.
But once again, his expectations were shattered.
Before the attack could land, an invisible repulsive force erupted from Chiga's body, shattering the massive lion heads into countless droplets. The mist scattered harmlessly across the deck.
A single cold bead of sweat trickled down Chiga's cheek.
He had nearly gotten everyone soaked.
He wasn't worried about himself—he wasn't particularly afraid of seawater—but the others aboard the warship? They wouldn't have been so lucky.
