Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Simulation

Finally, I'm here.

Without diving too deep into every district, Hero City is divided into seven sectors. At the heart of the city stands the Hero Association headquarters. The Seventh District is the first area newcomers see when entering the city—it's mostly populated by enhanced humans, like the super-soldier types from certain comic books.

I ended up in the Fifth District.

Since my brother hadn't properly tested my powers yet, this district was the furthest his connections could take me. Because I'm still only fifteen, my parents were listed as my legal guardians in the Hero Registry.

My brother brought me to the district's training center and introduced me to something called the Simulation Room. What exactly is that? Think of it like Babidi's magic—it can replicate environments, enemies, and battle scenarios. My brother left me in one of the rooms for an official evaluation and to log my data into the Hero Association's database.

As I stepped inside, a mechanical voice echoed through the room:

"Select your venue and opponent."

Since I'd only ever sparred lightly with my brother, I figured it was time to see what he was really capable of.

"Opponent: Power Punch," I said.

"Venue: Forested Mountain."

Then came a follow-up prompt:

"Select difficulty: 1. Public Perception 2. Official Record 3. True Strength."

I hesitated. I wanted to boost my confidence—not get demolished—so I chose option one: Public Perception.

The environment changed instantly. A dense mountain forest formed around me, and out from the shadows came a figure—Power Punch—ready to fight. He didn't waste any time. With a smirk, he launched a mean right hook.

I barely managed to cross my arms to block the blow. Even from that first punch, I could tell—his simulated strength was about equal to mine. We traded blows, fast and hard. But deep down, I knew I couldn't win. My stamina was draining fast, and it was only a matter of time before I collapsed.

I needed an edge.

I remembered a move Kakarot used once. Risky... but maybe enough.

My ki surged, flickering red as I shouted, "Kaio-Ken, times two!"

My body erupted into a red streak, and I drove a powerful punch into the simulation's chest. It shattered into glowing fragments.

Victory—almost.

The pain hit instantly. It felt like every cell in my body was screaming. My muscles tore, bones cracked. I couldn't even cry out before darkness swallowed me.

When I opened my eyes, I was in a medical recovery pod.

Turned out I had broken most of the muscles and bones in my body using Kaio-Ken. They healed me, completely—but even now, the exhaustion lingers like a weight I can't shake.

And one question keeps echoing in my mind:

Just how strong is my brother, really?
