Cherreads

Chapter 9 - Viviano vs Shadow

Chrizer – Realm of Molten Echoes

The heat was unbearable, even for someone as battle-hardened as Chrizer. Lava veins crisscrossed the terrain like the arteries of a furious titan, and volcanic ash danced in the air. The sky, a swirling storm of red and black, glared down with ominous intensity.

The moment he stepped forward from the rocky outcrop, a low growl echoed through the air. A beast — massive, horned, and ablaze — emerged from behind a wall of fire. Chrizer's fists clenched, his newly acquired Omniversal ability, Aether Pyraxis, pulsing in his veins.

"No time for fear," he muttered, summoning twin blades of crystallized flame.

The beast charged. Chrizer sidestepped, slicing through a leg, then rolled as magma claws lashed toward him. It wasn't the brute force that made this beast dangerous — it was its regenerative abilities. Every cut sealed within seconds, skin re-forging like molten metal cooling back into shape.

Chrizer snarled. "Guess I'll need to hit harder."

He leapt high, focusing all his energy into one sweeping strike. His body blurred midair, tracing a symbol of destruction as his blade ignited fully.

"Pyraxis Burst!"

The explosion ripped the beast apart, sending embers skyward like a dying star. Chrizer dropped to one knee, panting. The silence returned, but it didn't last.

Before him, a mirror rose from the cracked ground — smooth, reflective, and impossibly dark.

From its depths, a shadow emerged.

It was him. Same eyes. Same smirk. But devoid of warmth. It tilted its head and summoned a copy of Chrizer's flaming blades.

"No way around this," Chrizer said, tightening his grip. "I have to beat… myself."

Mizelein – Frozen Nexus

Mizelein moved through the icy canyon like a wraith, his breath fogging up before vanishing in the air. His dimension was a world of silence and blue — endless glaciers and ghostly winds.

He had sensed it long before it appeared — the beast that stalked her. A serpentine creature made of ice and crystal. It slithered out of a frozen cave, hissing, its breath capable of turning the air solid.

He whispered his command. "Nevalis Stride."

His Omniversal gift activated, and snow lifted her off the ground like a phantom wind. He glided between shards of death as the serpent struck. With elegance and deadly focus, He rained down frost needles on the creature.

It screeched, coiling as its scales shattered. But just before it collapsed, it roared — and from the snow behind her, more emerged. Four smaller beasts. Offspring?

"This wasn't part of the plan."

He soared, weaving in and out, landing hits, keeping distance. It was a battle of precision, not power. And Mizelein had both. One by one, they fell, until the snow was soaked with glowing ichor.

Then it appeared.

The mirror. Rising like a frozen monolith.

His reflection moved before she did. Then it stepped out. His shadow-self had no glow in its eyes. Only hunger.

"You think you're perfect," the shadow hissed. "Let's test that."

Yuna – Realm of Eternal Twilight

The forest was strange — trees made of glass, leaves that whispered secrets in forgotten tongues. Yuna walked cautiously, her aura glowing silver.

Her dimension was both beautiful and disturbing, where even silence felt alive.

The enemy came without a sound.

A creature shaped like a centaur but cloaked in illusions attacked. It split into five forms, and each struck in unison. Yuna's Lunaris Pulse spread outward like a ripple, breaking their illusions — revealing that each form had its own unique strength.

It wasn't a single illusion. It was five enemies.

She called her staff, Solumra, to her side. Spinning it, she summoned a dome of starlight to shield herself. But these beasts were relentless. Blades shimmered from their arms, and their war cries echoed like mournful chants.

Yuna focused her breath. "You're not taking me down. I control the light here."

Her staff's crystal burst open like a nova. Blinding beams shot through the creatures. One dropped. Then another. She kept spinning, her rhythm now a dance of divine wrath.

When it was over, the forest sighed in relief.

But tranquility didn't last.

The mirror emerged. This time, the glass trees bowed around it.

Her reflection stepped out, wielding a dark version of Solumra.

"Let's see if your soul is as pure as your light," her shadow sneered.

Yugia – Realm of Thundering Rifts

Electric storms ravaged the skies. Yugia, drenched in sweat and sparks, crouched atop a floating rock. Lightning cracked nearby, sending debris flying.

He'd fought three beasts already — winged wolves that manipulated sound waves, making him deaf to their attacks. He learned quickly to trust vibration instead of hearing.

His Tempest Gauge helped him absorb kinetic energy. He released it now — a surge of violet electricity exploding from his palm.

The last wolf exploded midair.

Yugia fell back, panting. His body buzzed with residual shock.

Then it came.

The mirror. Cracking the rock open as it floated, it shimmered like electrified water.

A figure leapt from it.

Himself.

But dressed in spiked armor and radiating black thunder.

Shadow Yugia smiled wickedly.

"I know every move you'll make."

Yugia stood, grinning. "Then let's see which of us improvises better."

Phiona – Realm of Blossoming Death

This place was deceiving. Flowering meadows, sunlight, sweet wind.

But every plant here was a killer. Vines attacked, petals sliced, roots pulled.

Phiona's new ability, Verdant Reversal, allowed her to reverse decay. She turned the plants against each other, causing the corrupted flora to unravel in her path.

But the real battle was ahead.

A chimera-beast — lion head, eagle wings, serpent tail — charged from a hilltop, leaving a wake of crumbling flora behind.

Phiona dodged, tossed seeds into the air, and chanted. Trees erupted from the ground, trapping the beast. It howled, breaking free, but too late.

She whispered, "Nature gives, and nature takes."

The beast imploded in a burst of vines and smoke.

From the ashes rose the mirror.

Her reflection wore a crown of thorns. Its eyes were black and full of wrath.

"You use life as a weapon," the shadow said.

Phiona narrowed her eyes. "I use what I must. Let's see if you can match that."

Chrizer vs. Shadow Chrizer – Realm of Molten Echoes

The ground beneath them cracked and bubbled with heat as flame met flame. Chrizer dashed forward, slashing at his dark twin, only to meet resistance in the form of mirrored blades. The clang of weapons echoed through the volcanic valley like war drums.

"You mimic my every move," Chrizer growled, wiping blood from his lip. "But you don't have my will."

Shadow Chrizer smirked. "I don't need it. I am your rage, your pride, your unchecked fury."

Their blades clashed again. Chrizer spun, ducked, and launched a spiraling kick of fire. But the shadow absorbed it and retaliated with a mirrored version, amplified.

Chrizer was thrown back, skidding across obsidian rock. His body burned, but deep within his core, his Omniversal spark flared. This wasn't just about power — it was about purpose.

He reached deep, channeling the essence of his resolve, whispering a forgotten phrase:

"Virex Ignitia."

Flames engulfed him, but they didn't burn. They listened.

He rose, transformed — armor of radiant ember, wings of flame arcing from his back.

One final charge. One precise strike.

His sword pierced the shadow's heart, which exploded into a vortex of black smoke. The mirror shattered behind it, releasing a glowing fragment.

Chrizer picked it up — the second part of the key.

"One down."

Mizelein vs. Shadow Mizelein – Frozen Nexus

Every step echoed in perfect synchronicity. Mizelein lunged left, his shadow mirrored. he cast spears of ice, his shadow deflected them with mirrored finesse.

"I am your doubt," the shadow said, circling her like a hawk. "Your hesitation to lead. Your fear of failure."

"You are none of those," Mizelein whispered. "You are what I used to be."

Suddenly he darted in. His blades shimmered with soul frost, slicing into the air. The shadow parried, but Mizelein wasn't fighting the shadow anymore. he was fighting himself — his old self.

He stopped evading. he stood firm.

A flurry of stabs from the shadow — Mizelein took them all, shattering into mist.

"Wrong one," he whispered behind the shadow.

With one clean strike of his frostbrand, he cleaved through its heart.

The mirror cracked, then shattered. In the frostfall, a glowing shard of the key descended like a snowflake.

he caught it.

"One step closer."

Yuna vs. Shadow Yuna – Realm of Eternal Twilight

Silver light clashed against shadowed radiance. Yuna floated, spinning Solumra, weaving complex arcs of lunar magic. Her shadow kept pace, every spell perfectly countered.

"You are too gentle," the shadow mocked. "You lack what it takes to destroy. That's why I exist."

Yuna's eyes narrowed. "Compassion is not weakness."

They collided midair. Moonlight clashed against starless void. Sparks rained down on the forest. But Yuna's heart remained unwavering.

She closed her eyes, focused her breath, and invoked her full power.

"Lunaris Ascenda."

Her staff shattered — not in loss, but in transformation. A crown of light formed above her head. Wings of astral feathers spread from her back.

The shadow lunged.

Yuna did not flinch. She stepped into the shadow and whispered, "You may be my darkness… but I carry the stars."

A pulse of divine energy erupted, obliterating the shadow.

The mirror dissolved. A shard floated down. She took it, tears on her cheeks.

"For them. For us."

Yugia vs. Shadow Yugia – Realm of Thundering Rifts

They clashed in midair, bolts and thunder tearing the sky apart. Shadow Yugia unleashed Oblivion Storm, a technique Yugia had never even considered.

"I am your recklessness," the shadow said, lightning whipping around him. "Your anger. Your chaos."

Yugia's armor was cracked. His knuckles bled.

"Then let's burn it all down together."

He soared upward, calling every bolt from the heavens. The sky turned violet, then white. His body glowed with compressed electricity.

"Aetherfield Nova!" he roared.

The attack consumed them both. For a moment, there was nothing but static and wind.

When the smoke cleared, only Yugia remained — chest heaving, eyes burning.

The mirror shattered. The second key shard appeared, sparking with electrical energy.

He caught it.

"And I thought I was crazy," he muttered, grinning.

Phiona vs. Shadow Phiona – Realm of Blossoming Death

The two versions of Phiona moved like wind through a garden of carnage. Every vine, every flower obeyed both.

"I am your guilt," her shadow said, conjuring a field of bleeding roses. "For every life lost in your path. You wear nature's blessing, but you bring destruction."

"Nature is not just beauty," Phiona whispered. "It is fury and calm. Growth and decay."

They wrestled amidst roots and thorns. The plants were alive with memory, feeding on emotions.

Phiona called forth her final gift.

"Verdant Eulogy."

From her chest, a seed bloomed, glowing with emerald fire. It surged into the earth, transforming the battlefield into a sacred grove. The shadow staggered, overwhelmed by the purity.

Phiona stepped forward and whispered, "I forgive myself."

With one touch, the shadow dissolved into mist.

The mirror fell into petals. In the center, the second shard.

She held it against her chest.

"Thank you," she whispered to the grove.

Across Dimensions – Reunion Through the Key

As the second shard was collected by each member, a pulse traveled through space. Each piece responded to the others — glowing, humming, vibrating in synchrony.

The sky tore above each realm.

A beam of light descended, enveloping the characters. They were lifted from their dimensions, the shards in hand.

They met once more — not in a realm of chaos, but in a neutral, glowing nexus between time and space. Crystalized stars orbited around them like memories.

They looked at each other. Tired. Scarred. But triumphant.

Chrizer stepped forward, holding up his shard.

"Two down."

Yuna joined him, her light glowing bright. "One more to go."

Phiona nodded. "And whatever trial comes next... we'll face it. Together."
