Chapter 61 - Chapter 61: Thor’s Arrival

The war erupted in a storm of rage and fury. Namor's sanity, nearly consumed by the betrayal, hung by a thread, but he held back, knowing the odds were stacked against them. To attack first would be suicide.

"Ares, are you not afraid of the sanctions of the Council of Gods for coming to the mortal world?" Diana asked, her voice a low growl of warning. It was common knowledge on Paradise Island that the Council of Gods was forbidden from interfering in human affairs. The various pantheons, from Asgard to Olympus, had long since left the planet, bound by an ancient agreement to only interact with the mortal world through indirect means. Paradise Island was the spokesperson for the Olympians, and only Asgard could appoint a god to police other deities who trespassed on Earth.

"If I were afraid of the Council, sister, we would not be meeting like this," Ares, the God of War, rumbled, his voice devoid of any familial affection. For him, only battle and death could stir his emotions.

"I know the answer! I know the answer!" Alan raised his hand high, bouncing on the balls of his feet like a student desperate to answer the teacher's question. "Ask me! Ask me! Please, ask me!"

"You may speak," Diana said, her voice tight with annoyance, the tense atmosphere he had just created completely shattered.

"Excellent! I can finally reveal the spoiler!" Alan said with a satisfied expression. He struck a dramatic pose, pointing a finger at Ares. "The answer is… he's got a big ego and an even bigger helmet! A classic case of overcompensation! He strengthens his power through war, so he deliberately started a war in the mortal world."

Ares was silent. It was absolutely true. But being called out like that was infuriating.

"Who are you?" Ares demanded.

"I'm your brother-in-law," Alan said, hiding behind Diana with a sweet expression, fearing that Ares would strike him down with a bolt of lightning. "I'm Diana's fiancé. Please, don't be shy about giving me a wedding gift."

Diana was a demigod, her physical prowess inherited from her divine bloodline, but her true combat power came from her equipment—a full set of high-end artifacts. The Lasso of Hestia, the Bracelets of Submission, the Sword of Vulcan, the Aegis shield, and the helm of the war champion. Her mother, the Queen, had spared no expense.

"Die, madman." Enraged, Ares became a living storm of lightning and thunder, lunging for Diana. She dodged, raising her divine shield to block the attack. In an instant, the air crackled with raw power, sparks flying everywhere.

At the same time, Namor charged Atlan. Their fight was more grounded, a brutal clash of physical might. Atlan's water magic was, at best, a secondary skill and played no decisive role.

"For the King!" Namor's loyal nobles, with the grim determination of men facing certain death, joined the battle. The island descended into a maelstrom of chaos. The new king and the old king fought for the throne. A god and a demigod clashed. And the two factions of Atlantis waged a bloody civil war.

"Nanaue, take out the trash!" Alan commanded, feeling he couldn't just be a bystander.

"Who is trash?" Nanaue's dull little eyes searched the battlefield for a target that met the description.

"The grunts! The miscellaneous soldiers! Go, kill them all!"

Alan went invisible, approached a red-armored soldier, and slashed the water pipe that maintained his oxygen circulation. Seawater spilled from the tube, and the soldier jumped into the sea in a panic. Without oxygen, he would suffocate within minutes.

"Nanaue is on a killing spree!" The shark-man rampaged across the battlefield. The Atlantean soldiers were like toys to him; he grabbed them, threw them to the ground, bit them, and tore them apart on the spot. The energy lasers that hit Nanaue had no real effect, only leaving charred patches on his skin that his powerful healing ability would mend in days.

Alan disappeared and reappeared, using sneak attacks to cut off the oxygen support of one soldier after another. Suddenly, a red-armored soldier smashed his pulse cannon into the ground. A circle of azure pulse waves radiated outward. Alan, who was about to launch another sneak attack, instantly lost his invisibility.

"Hah!" A knife pierced the mask of the soldier in front of him. Alan rolled to avoid being surrounded and picked up an energy weapon.

"Pew, pew, pew…" Today's Atlantis technology was truly superior to that of humans. Energy weapons not only had no sound but also had no recoil, so Alan provided his own sound effects to increase the sense of impact.

Picking up another weapon from a fallen soldier, Alan raised his voice and announced, "System prompt: Ultimate kill-streak mode engaged."

"Activating bullet-hell protocol!"

"Pew, pew, pew…" Alan kept spinning, his eyes searching for targets.

On the battlefield, Namor and Atlan were fighting inextricably. The two were equally matched and were destined for a protracted battle. Diana, however, was in a miserable state. Ares was simply pinning her down and beating her mercilessly. Even with her full set of divine artifacts, she was no match. A large part of the reason was that she was not fully familiar with her equipment and could not unleash its full power.

Bang!

An energy laser hit Ares's helmet, and he turned to look at the source of the attack. All he saw was Alan looking up at the sky and whistling, as if it had nothing to do with him. Ares stared for a moment, then prepared to punch Diana.

Bang!

Before his fist could land, another energy laser shot out.

Tsk…

Ares became enraged and decisively put down Diana, who was beaten into a daze, and decided to deal with the annoying fly first.

"Gorgeous Revolver!" Alan raised his weapon and fired continuously. A series of energy lasers poured out, hitting Ares's armor and splashing dazzling sparks. As a result, it looked very fierce, but in fact, it was useless and didn't even stain the surface of his armor.

Alan smiled awkwardly. "Brother, is it too late for me to join you now?"

"What do you think?" The red light in Ares's eyes grew brighter.

Boom!

Suddenly, the sky tore open. A torrent of multicolored light slammed into the ground, silencing the battlefield. As the rainbow light faded, a majestic man with long, blond hair raised a hammer and declared, "Will you surrender, or must I beat you down and arrest you myself?"

Alan looked at the man pointing his hammer, then glanced at Ares, and wisely stood aside. He had been standing right between the two of them and had almost thought the challenge was directed at him.
