Chapter 39 - Ch -39 Thunder in the Heart ☆

They hadn't spoken in two days.

The air between Tianxin and Jiasheng had grown tense — heavy with words unsaid and glances avoided. He, who once never stopped teasing, now barely looked her way. She, who once always replied with sarcastic remarks and laughter, felt nothing but confusion and sadness.

Even Junxi and Zhou Rui had noticed the change. But they didn't say anything. Some storms had to pass on their own.

🧨 Two Days Ago – The Fight

It started with a small misunderstanding — like most of their fights.

But this time, emotions were already strained.

"You didn't even listen to what I was saying!" Tianxin had shouted.

"Because I already know where it's going," Jiasheng had snapped. "You always assume things without knowing what I feel!"

She bit her lip. "Maybe if you shared your feelings more, I wouldn't have to assume!"

"Maybe I wouldn't have to share if you actually trusted me!"

Those words burned.

Her voice dropped. "Maybe we weren't meant to be."

He looked at her, stunned. "Maybe we weren't."

She turned and walked away.

He didn't stop her.

🌧️ The Night of the Accident

It was late. Tianxin had left the bakery early after a long, failed planning meeting. Her business dream — the one she had worked so hard on — felt like it was slipping through her fingers.

Everything felt wrong.

Zhou Rui was busy with her own life, Junxi had become distant again, and Jiasheng…

He hadn't even texted once.

She walked through the quiet streets of Aozora City, the night filled with soft wind and misty drizzle. Her thoughts were noisy.

She reached a crosswalk.

It was the same one where Jiasheng used to hold her hand, laughing and teasing her for being scared of crossing roads.

Tonight, there was no one.

Just her and her racing heartbeat.

She stepped onto the road — lost in thought.

A car came speeding from the corner, tires screeching.

She froze.

Everything blurred — lights, sounds, fear.

But in the next second, she was yanked backward — pulled into someone's arms with such force that she stumbled.

Her eyes shot open.

Rain was falling now — cold and sharp.

And Jiasheng stood in front of her, chest rising and falling, eyes wide and terrified.

"Are you crazy?!" he yelled. "Do you know what could've happened?!"

She looked at him, tears already spilling. "Why are you here?"

He clenched his fists. "Because I felt something was wrong! I looked for you everywhere! Do you know how scared I was?!"

She broke. "Why do you always come to help me when I'm the one pushing you away?"

He stepped closer, jaw tight. "Because I can't imagine a life without you!"

Tianxin blinked.

"I don't care how many times we fight, or how much we misunderstand each other. If something happened to you, I wouldn't survive it," he said, voice cracking now. "I'd rather fight you every day than lose you once."

She whispered, "Then why didn't you stop me that night?"

"I was scared. That I wasn't enough. That I would only bring you down."

Silence.

Only rain between them.

Tianxin looked at him, lips trembling. "You idiot."

Before he could reply — she crashed into him, burying her face in his soaked shirt.

Jiasheng held her tight. "I'm sorry. I'll always come for you, no matter what."

They pulled back — just enough to meet eyes.

He leaned in.

And in the middle of the rain, with hearts still racing and breath trembling —

He kissed her.

It wasn't practiced or poetic. It was real. Warm lips meeting hers, the rain cascading around them, pain dissolving into affection.

Tianxin kissed him back.

Because no matter how much they argued, this — this feeling — was always there.

When they finally pulled away, Jiasheng whispered against her forehead:

"Don't ever try to walk away from me again."

She smiled through the tears. "Only if you promise to always come after me."

"I will. Every single time."
