Chapter 131 - Chapter 131: The Blood-Red Tomb

The moment they saw the monsters open their eyes, Qi Desheng knew something was terribly wrong.

Without hesitation, he roared for everyone to scatter.

The creatures were shaped like humans but were far more agile. Though they used no weapons, their bodies were the best weapons. In just an instant, several careless Crimson Ghost Sect disciples were disemboweled on the spot, their blood spraying across the ground.

Fortunately, Qi Desheng did not lose his head. With incredible speed, he rallied his men.

"Fall back! Don't panic! Kill them!"

The disciples of the Crimson Ghost Sect summoned their various treasures. Although it took some time, they managed to kill all of the pale monsters.

Fei Yuming was spattered with blood. Looking at the corpses of the monsters on the ground, a chill crept into his heart. This was the land of ancient inheritance that Lin Yun had spoken of? Nothing about this place seemed right.

Meanwhile, Lin Yun had realized this place was abnormal the moment he opened the bronze door. Coffins could be seen everywhere throughout the secret realm. Most, however, were sealed shut, nearly impossible to open from the inside. Thus, only a very small number of coffins were open, and what had escaped from them were those pale, vampire-like monsters. But they were already dead and posed no threat to Lin Yun.

However, Lin Yun had used these monsters in the first chamber to create some trouble for the Crimson Ghost Sect. Just as he had expected, the greedy disciples had fallen for it. But Qi Desheng wouldn't give up because of this. On the contrary, he would become even more convinced that Lin Yun was trying to monopolize the secret treasures here.

Qi Desheng would never have imagined that Lin Yun had arranged everything specifically for him.

"Junior Brother Lin, this place truly gives one an extremely ominous feeling," Zhou Damao whispered, following close behind.

A land of ancient inheritance was indeed a rare find. The fact that Lin Yun could open the way here meant he was fated to be here. But the sights they had witnessed since entering were truly horrifying, especially those pale monsters. No one knew what they were.

Lin Yun just smiled. He glanced at his own panel.

[Recent Turning Point]: Is pursued by the Crimson Ghost Sect to a blood-red tomb, where he discovers a great secret, but invites great trouble because of it...

It's getting better.

Ever since defeating Xiao Pingtian, Lin Yun had finally changed his destiny. If he couldn't alter his fate even with so many opportunities, it would be a joke.

Lin Yun walked ahead. The disciples outside should have all been rescued by now. His mission now was to use the monsters here to hold off Qi Desheng's group and trap them here forever. This was something he had only discovered when he used the broken sword hilt to open the bronze door. Not only could he open it, but he could use the hilt to close it again. It would take some time, but if he succeeded, Qi Desheng and his men would be laid to rest here for eternity, saving Lin Yun a great deal of trouble.

"Look, there are murals and writing here."

As the two ventured deeper into the tomb, they passed through a long corridor. Both sides were carved with lifelike murals, accompanied by ancient text.

Zhou Damao shook his head. "What a pity. I don't know much about these things."

Lin Yun didn't answer. Although the ancient text was fragmented, when combined with the murals, he could roughly make out the story they told.

Once, there was a poor village that had lived for generations by hunting in the great mountains, a peaceful existence without worldly disputes. Until one day, they found a stranger in odd clothing. The stranger seemed to be gravely injured. After some discussion, the village elders decided to take him in.

Though the stranger's injuries were severe, the villagers, who were often injured themselves, were not unskilled in treating such wounds. After half a month, the stranger finally awoke. However, he seemed to have lost his memory and could not say where he came from. But when he saw the village's relatively backward way of life, he began to use his remaining memories to help the villagers change their lives for the better.

The mural stopped abruptly here. The following sections seemed to have been deliberately destroyed, with large chunks missing. But at the very end of the corridor, Lin Yun saw some hastily scribbled ancient characters. The person who wrote this seemed to have been in a very unstable emotional state.

"We created a demon with our own hands."

"This world will eventually return to chaos."

What does this mean? Lin Yun frowned, feeling that some great secret was hidden here, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.

"Junior Brother Lin, did you discover something?" Zhou Damao asked quietly.

Lin Yun shook his head. "The contents on these walls were damaged by someone with intent. What we see is only a fraction of the story." He sighed. "Those monsters won't be able to hold back the Crimson Ghost Sect for long. We have to keep moving!"

The scale of the blood-red tomb was larger than Lin Yun had imagined. He discovered many open-air burial pits, each filled with neatly arranged coffins, just like the ones that had stood near the stone pillar. He could only imagine that inside each one was another of those pale-skinned monsters.

Lin Yun and Zhou Damao didn't dare to breathe loudly. They walked like this for nearly another hour, seeing countless similar burial pits along the way. If every coffin held a monster, then just from what they could see, there must be tens of thousands of them here.

Who on earth was it that sealed all these monsters in these coffins and trapped them in the Spirit Realm?

With this question in mind, they continued on. He had expected to see more murals, but in the end, Lin Yun arrived at a gigantic cavern.

He couldn't see the top. He couldn't see the bottom.

And in the center of this massive cavern stood a colossal, lifelike statue.

Chains were connected to the statue's body, as if restraining it in some way.
