Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Kiba was walking home when a familiar figure stepped into his path, the Patriarch of the Inuzuka Clan.

Kiba narrowed his eyes. "What do you want?"

The Patriarch strode past him without stopping, his voice low. "Follow me."

Kiba turned his head, watching as the man continued walking. He exhaled sharply.

'What does he want?'

Reluctantly, Kiba followed.

To his surprise, the Patriarch led him to Yakiniku Q. Kiba hesitated, disbelief flickering across his face, but he stepped inside after him.

Once seated, the Patriarch gestured to the menu. "Order what you like."

Kiba stared, still processing the situation.

"Alright," he muttered as the waiter approached.

He pointed to the meal with the highest protein on the menu and added water to his order. The Patriarch chose the same.

"I'm impressed you've survived this long without the Hokage's help," the Patriarch remarked.

"Get to the point," Kiba said flatly. "I'm busy."

The Patriarch smiled. "Just like your mother always rushing. I came to deliver news. Tsume and Hana have been sent to the border of the Land of Fire."

Kiba's grip tightened on the table. "Why?"

"They broke the rules imposed on them. Watching over you was permitted, but they went too far, they killed one of Konoha's elder's subordinates."

Kiba's jaw clenched. "Shimura Danzo?"

The Patriarch's eyes flickered with surprise. "Yes."

Kiba's expression darkened. 'Fuck. This must be because of the fight with Sasuke.'

The Patriarch studied him, puzzled. Kiba had shown no reaction to his family's punishment, but the moment Danzo's name was mentioned, his demeanor shifted.

"What else?" Kiba demanded, his voice sharp with suspicion. "I'm sure my mother and sister didn't just follow your orders without reason."

The Patriarch regarded him calmly before answering. "They agreed in exchange for the Hokage's protection, specifically, his guarantee of your safety."

'Third Hokage protecting me…' Kiba fell silent, his mind racing.

The Patriarch studied him, trying to decipher his thoughts.

Kiba abruptly stood from his seat, his patience worn thin. 'I don't have time to waste. The Third's protection won't last forever.'

"My apologies, Patriarch. I have to go." Without waiting for a response, Kiba left the shop and dashed home, his form blurring as he activated the Body Flicker technique.

The ANBU assigned to monitor him stiffened in surprise, none had expected him to possess such skill.

'Since the Third is watching over me.' Kiba's thoughts burned with determination. 'No more holding back in training'

By the time he reached his home, his mind was already strategizing his next training session.

'Seismic Sense.'

Kiba kicked off his shoes and scavenged for a cloth to blindfold himself. With his Earth Nature chakra ready, he began his training without delay.

From today onward, he intensified his training, pushing himself harder than ever before. He knew he needed to become as strong as possible, and there was no time to waste.

. . . .

Three years had passed.

By the shore of the river stood Kiba, now ten years old. His frame was leaner, more compact, and packed with muscle. Taller than most his age, he stood half-naked, his black hair tousled by the breeze. A black blindfold covered his eyes, reminiscent of a certain white-haired shinobi.

His chakra reserves had grown significantly, now rivaling those of a low-level chunin. This achievement came from years of rigorous training, pushing his limits in every aspect of chakra control and development.

At the moment, he sat cross-legged on the ground, deep in meditation.

When the time came, he rose and prepared for school. First, he plunged into the river, washing away the sweat despite having cleaned himself earlier.

Afterward, he dried off with a towel and changed into fresh clothes a fitted black shirt and loose white pants.

Stepping outside, he muttered under his breath, "Today is the day."

Without delay, Kiba made his way to the Academy.

The villagers still cast odd glances his way, but by now, they had grown accustomed to his appearance.

Upon arriving, the other students couldn't help but stare. Kiba stood out taller, more muscular, and the only one wearing a blindfold.

Ignoring their gazes, he proceeded to the examination room, where two chunin instructors waited alongside other students aiming for early graduation.

Kiba took his seat and waited patiently for the rest to arrive.

Once everyone was present, Iruka and Mizuki distributed the written exams. Kiba retrieved a pen from his pocket and lifted his blindfold slightly since he couldn't see through it, he needed to peek to read the questions.

He answered confidently, his studies having prepared him well.

When the written portion concluded, the group moved to another room for the ninjutsu proficiency test. One by one, the students were called forward as the rest waited their turn.

Kiba leaned against the wall, watching as several students emerged from the exam room. Their faces were streaked with tears, their voices sharp with frustration as they cursed their failed attempts to graduate.

A few minutes later, a genin instructor appeared, clipboard in hand.

"Kiba, come in," the instructor called.

Kiba stepped inside and walked to the center of the room, where three examiners observed him.

"You must demonstrate the three basic ninjutsu and one additional technique of your choice," the middle examiner said. "You may even use an original jutsu if you wish. Begin."

The examiner on the right cleared his throat.

Without hesitation, Kiba performed the three basic techniques flawlessly before showcasing the Body Flicker Technique. His movements became a blur, his speed and precision under perfect control.

The instructors exchanged glances, nodding in approval as they noted his performance.

"Proceed to the next room," the middle examiner instructed.

But Kiba hesitated, his mind racing. 'Shouldn't there be one more test?' Then it struck him Genjutsu. With a swift hand sign, he shattered the illusion.

"You passed the Genjutsu test," the examiner on the right confirmed.

"Head to the training hall," the one on the left added. "An instructor will be waiting for you."

Kiba gave a firm nod and turned to leave.

'I was lucky, thank god'
