Chapter 12 - Ch. 12 - Date turned disastrous! [3]

Kenshin turned to look to his side and saw Sawako quietly munching on some popcorn.

'It seems Cursed Spirits are truly invisible to normal humans.' Kenshin muttered to himself.

He wanted to deal with the 'Sadako' spirit in front of him but he's afraid of exposing himself and getting the attention he doesn't need, especially since he still have some plans to deal with the Yakuza that are after him.

'How troublesome. It would be great if that Fushiguro guy were here to deal with this mess instead of me.' Kenshin sighed in defeat and leaned back on his chair, waiting for 'Sadako' to make her move and only then will he do the same.

Fortunately, the cursed woman seemed content with just watching the humans, though there are times when a grin would be plastered on her face when some humans scream out of fear from the film's jumpscares.

'I wonder what will happen once the movie ends and everyone proceeds to leave…' Kenshin muttered under his breath.

Just as Kenshin was about to relax for a bit, alarm suddenly blared throughout the entire room, causing the screen, almost nearing its ending to turn black and an emergency text appeared, warning the viewers to leave the room and follow the security to an emergency exit.

While Kenshin raised his eyebrow at such convenient timing, Sadako on the other hand, continued to munch on her popcorn with her eyes glued on the screen displaying the emergency message, all while wondering to herself.

'Is this part of the movie too?' As it is her first time watching in a cinema, Sawako doesn't know much about cinemas and stuff. In her mind, the message might be part of the movie or something.

As the people slightly panicked and lined up to the emergency exits, Kenshin grabbed Sawako's hand and spoke.

"Follow them out, I'll stay for a while, okay?" Although confused, Sawako could only form theories and assumptions in her mind while heeding his words and lining up.

After seeing that, Kenshin sighed in relief and turned to face the Sadako spirit cautiously.

Although he's curious as to what caused the alarm around the cinema to blare off but he's grateful for it.

'Now, I'll deal with you for interrupting my date.' Kenshin cracked his knuckles and muttered while staring at the Sadako spirit who is now staring directly back at him.

***

"How convenient." Fushiguro muttered to himself.

Earlier, before he could board the train back to Tokyo, he received a call from Ijichi, stating that they received a distress call from the police about something that might have a cursed spirit involved.

With that information at hand, Fushiguro wasted no time and took the mission immediately despite Ijichi's constant warnings of waiting for a proper Jujutsu Sorcerer to take charge of the mission.

However, why would Fushiguro, who has been waiting for this chance since he became part of Jujutsu High let it go?

His supposed solo mission was thrown into the trash can due to the Cursed Spirit's disappearance and now, an opportunity was presented to him.

After a few words of convincing, Fushiguro obtained the exact location of the cursed spirit.

A Cinema.

According to the police reports, they received several calls from the staffs of the cinema that they heard spine-chilling and blood-curdling screams coming out of a cinema room.

At first, they thought that the movie The Ring: Remake was extremely horrifying to the viewers but the moment they opened the doors, they were meet with a stench and foul smell of flesh and blood everywhere.

The cinema room was now painted by scarlet reds, with a few organs such as intestines hanging from the ceiling.

The horrified staff wasted no time in calling the police, who passed it to the police chief.

As Police Chiefs around Japan were trained to be aware of the Cursed Spirits and Jujutsu Sorcerers, he quickly called the Jujutsu Sorcerers of the situation.

However, since most Jujutsu Sorcerers are either occupied or situated in Tokyo and would take a few hours to arrive by train, Fushiguro, who is already nearby, although just a student, was informed of the situation.

Though they don't intend for him to take over the mission by himself, just simple investigation and assessment of the current situation.

But who is Fushiguro? He's the strongest Jujutsu Sorcerer's student, a smart boy since birth, a prodigy and last but not the least, an aspiring Jujutsu Sorcerer who seeks independency outside of his teacher's wings.

Arriving at the cinema, Fushiguro noticed that he arrived at the same time as the police, who were now putting yellow tapes all over the place, securing it.

A single look from the police chief and he was granted entry to the cinema.

However, before he could enter, someone approached him.

"A-Ano~ are you an investigator? My friend is still inside, can you rescue him?" Sawako, who noticed the police arrival and the seriousness of the situation, finally realized that her friend, has put himself in a dangerous situation.

"Your friend didn't come out with you?" Fushiguro clenched his fists.

'How troublesome. Instead of dealing with the Cursed Spirit, now I have to rescue someone in the process.'

After assuring the woman, Fushiguro entered the premises and instantly, he was greeted with a foul stench of Cursed Energy all over the place that almost made him recoil out of shock.

He sensed two distinct cursed energies around the place which could only mean one thing.

Either a Cursed User is here or worse, the place gave birth to two Cursed Spirits.

Fushiguro prayed in his mind that it's not the latter or else he might find himself in a troublesome situation.

Not to mention, he still has to rescue someone.

If that person were to die, especially in his first independent mission, no doubt his teacher would take this opportunity to still keep him under his wings for a few more years to come.

"Hey you. Can you speak?" Kenshin asked while staring at the Sadako spirit.

Instead of getting a response, all Kenshin received was pure silence from the other party.

"The silent type huh?" He muttered to himself while brandishing a sword from his inventory.

[A Steel sword

- An average sword made from a fine steel forged by Alistair. Capable of cutting through metal.]

Although weaker than some of his monster-like weapons, it should do well enough against the evil spirits.

Of course, it would be impossible to hurt them with it so Kenshin casted a magic enchantment on it.

[Purify]

The steel blade started to glow in white, causing Sadako to slowly back away from him, as if sensing the horrible energy emanating from the sword.

"Oh? Scared of this? It's just a low-level holy spell." Kenshin smirked and pointed the tip of thr sword towards the spirit, making step side to side just to avoid it even though there's a considerable distance between them.

Kenshin felt like a baby wielding a knife in front of his parents, chuckling by the reactions.

"Let's get this over with. You ruined my first date with such a fine girl!" With a final roar, the ground he's stepping on exploded out of his sheer speed, arriving in front of Sadako in just a few seconds.

His sword raised above him and Kenshin brought it down towards the spirit, intending to cleave her in to vertically.

Unfortunately, the newborn spirit doesn't intend to let herself be killed this early and jumped out of the way, while at the same time, her black and damp hair exploded in sheer length, which she manipulated to attack Kenshin.

Kenshin, honed by thousands of years of fighting and maxed-out battle skills, swiftly landed on the ground all while slashing the hairs that almost looks like a sea of black liquid.

Slash!

Slash!

Slash!

A mere hair of course, couldn't stand against a sword that could slice through metal and Kenshin easily defended himself without much sweat.

Once again, Kenshin disappeared from his place, rushing towards the spirit, he pushed his hand out and muttered a spell.

[Holy Flash!]

A simple spell that can be used by even low level clerics back in his world that is almost as effective as a high-level holy spell if used properly.

What does it do? Imagine a flashbang but the flash does more damage than just blinding someone.

"KRAAAAGHHH!" Sadako's pale face graced by womanly features immediately turned into a hideous one, as if Satan had designed her himself instead of God.

"Uegh. You're ugly as fuck." Kenshin recoiled in disgust and quickly thrust his sword forward, intending to kill her as soon as he can.

Sadako, sensing the immediate danger, could only try to use her hair to form a barrier in front of her, the flashbang has left her unable to see and move.

Unfortunately for her, the low-level holy spell was able to melt through her hair barrier easily before piercing her chest.

SCREEECHHH!

The evil spirit made an ear-deafening sound that could make a normal human permanently deaf forever.

Even Kenshin, unprepared, quickly dropped his sword and covered his ears that started to bleed.

No matter how strong he is, and how many skills and abilities he has, all of them are locked and limited due to his low stats that are still far away from the peak of a human, not to mention, from his prime self back in the world of Fantazio.

Thankfully, he has some healings spells, so a low-lebel healing spell managed to stop the bleeding from his ears and the annoying buzzing sound.

Looking ahead, the Sadako spirit's one last cry took the remaining of her strength and with his purified steel sword still embedded in her chest, she slowly vanished into motes of dark particles, dropping the steel sword to the ground afterward.

Clang!

"Well, finally it's over-"

BOOM!

Before Kenshin could finish his words, the wall from him behind exploded into pieces, forming a cloud of dust that blocked his vision.

"What the fuck?" Kenshin cursed and when the dust ceased, he was surprised to see a familiar face.

The said familiar face also looked surprised to see him.

"Kenshin?"

"Fushiguro?"

"What are you doing here!?" The two of them said in unison.
