Chapter 10 - ELLA'S PREGNANCY

The next day, I was lost in thought, thinking about how to break the news of my pregnancy to Mrs. Katie, and how to tell Alex..

"I know Khloe is caring for me, but there's something about her attitude I don't understand," I thought.

While i was deep in thought, Mrs. Katie called me.

"Ella! Ella!!"

"Yes, Mrs. Katie," I replied, getting up from my bed.

Mrs. Katie entered my room and asked, "What's wrong with you, Ella? Ever since you came back from the party, you've been distant, and it got worse yesterday.

"You know you can tell me anything, right?" She said while holding my arms and guiding me back to sit on the bed.

Once we were seated, I began to cry, "Mrs. Katie, I've let down my parents, you, and my friends."

Mrs. Katie was concerned, "Don't cry, dear. Everyone has weaknesses, and mistakes happen," she said, trying to console me.

"You won't understand, Mrs. Katie. My mate rejected me, and now I'm pregnant with his child," I cried.

"My life is ruined," I kept sobbing.

"Shh, it's okay," Mrs. Katie comforted me. "I understand. You believed you were with your mate. Don't blame yourself," she reassured me.

"I didn't do anything wrong, Mrs. Katie. All I did was wait for him," I said.

"It's okay," Mrs. Katie replied, wiping my tears away. "What do you plan to do?" She asked.

I replied, "I want to keep the baby. Khloe suggested I leave the pack for a while because seeing him with other women will constantly break my heart. It's best if I leave."

Mrs. Katie placed a soothing hand on my back and said, "Whatever decision you make, I'll stand by you, okay?"

I nodded through my tears.

We stood up, and she led me to the already set dining table where our breakfast was ready to eat.

It was pancakes and milk, my favorite, but I couldn't enjoy them the way I used to when my mom made them.

I was not in the mood to eat.

As I sluggishly ate the meal, Mrs. Katie observed me. With a soft smile, she rubbed my hands and said, "My dear, eat your food. You need all the energy to be strong. You're no longer eating for one," she teased me.

I gave her a faint smile and continued picking at my food.

After breakfast, Mrs. Katie cleared and cleaned the table, while I headed over to the kitchen to do the dishes.

As soon as I came out of the kitchen, Mrs. Katie was still sitting at the dining table but had turned the chair around to face the kitchen entrance.

"Will you go out today?" Mrs. Katie asked.

"I don't know yet. I want to think everything through before making a final decision," I said.

"Alright, that's good. Let me know what you've decided," she let out.

"I will," I told her and went upstairs back to my room.

Ever since I found out I was pregnant, I had been so ashamed of myself. These were not the morals my parents had taught me.

"I would've watched him well enough to know the kind of person he is before mating," I thought. But another thought disagreed, "He's your mate. Mating with him is not a bad thing to do. He's just a fool for not seeing the kind of woman you are."

While I was pacing in my room, thinking of the best way out of my situation, I caught a glimpse of Khloe through my room window entering the alpha's house.

"Is that not Khloe?" I asked myself, opening my window properly to get a clearer view of her.

"Why is she there? Hmm... Probably it's for my sake," I thought. I walked to where my phone was charging, unplugged it, and dialed her number.

It rang, but she didn't answer. "Maybe she's confronting him. I shouldn't interrupt them," I concluded.

I was still standing by the window, waiting for when Khloe would come out. Suddenly, I heard a knock on the door.

Knock!

"Who's that?" I asked.

"It's Alex," he replied.

He opened the door before I even asked him to enter.

"Ella, are you alright?" I nodded but couldn't hold back my tears as I burst into tears.

"Hey, hey, what's wrong? What happened? Talk to me, who offended you? I can go and punch him for you." Alex's soothing words cracked me up, and I started laughing in between tears.

He held my hands and led me back to my bed. I sat on my bed while he sat on the sofa opposite me.

"Now tell me what's wrong?"

I couldn't answer immediately. I was so ashamed of telling him that I was pregnant with the man who rejected me. I thought of the best way to break the news to him, but I couldn't find one. There was no way it wouldn't look bad, so I let it out.

"Alex, I'm pregnant," I said, shutting my eyes but gradually opening them when I didn't hear any word from him.

The moment I opened my eyes, he punched the wall and cursed.

"Shit! That son of a bitch did this to you, right?" he asked, looking angry.

"Yes," I answered.

He looked at me pitifully for a while, his hand on his waist. Then, he nodded his head and came back to sit close to me.

"What's your next plan?" he asked.

I hesitated a bit and replied, "I'm keeping it."

He turned speedily to look at me. "Are you sure, Ella?"

"Yes, I'm sure. He or she will always remind me of his rejection and my love for him. Yes, I will keep it."

"If you're comfortable with it, then I'll give you my blessings," he declared.

"I don't think I will be staying here for now. Khloe has suggested that I should move to New Jersey for a while, and I have agreed with the plan," I said.

He nodded. "Her sister's place? That's a great idea. It will help you heal faster, but I will miss you so much, Ella,"

"Yeah, I will miss you too, Alex. And you can always visit."

"I will leave tomorrow," I said, and I saw a drop of tears fall from his eyes. I couldn't help it; I hugged him. It was an emotional moment for both of us.

When he finally left, I went downstairs to inform Mrs. Katie that I would be leaving tomorrow. She was surprised at my sudden decision, but I thought it was for the best.

Before going to sleep that night, I called Khloe to let her know that I was leaving the next morning. Surprisingly, she was happy, an expression I didn't understand.

"Please, Khloe, inform your sister that I will be coming tomorrow," I told her.

"Woah, Ella, that's a good decision. I'm so happy that you have finally decided. Don't worry, I will inform her right away and send her the address quickly."

I was short of words. I only managed to say, "Alright, thank you," and I hung up the call.

I didn't want to overthink it, so I waved it off and started packing my bag.

When I finished packing, it was already midnight. I took a quick bath and headed to bed.

I woke up in the morning, not happy. I had to leave my friends, where I grew up, and the memories of my parents all because of one man.

My emotions were running like a roller coaster. Mrs. Katie was the only one around, I had told my friends not to come so it would be easier for me to leave without breaking down.

I bid her goodb

ye and entered the taxi that I had booked to take me to the airport.

I was ready to see what life had in store for me in New Jersey.
