The corridors of the mansion murmured with secrets, but tonight, they were silent. Still. Expectant.
I watched from the second-floor landing as Eira walked through the garden below. Her silhouette was unmistakable,fierce and feminine. Even in the dark, her hand cradled her belly with that same infuriating tenderness.
That's when I knew. She was keeping it.
She was keeping his child.
I stood frozen, one hand clutching the marble rail, the other pressed against my chest like it could stop the jealousy from spilling out. I should have seen this coming. I should have known this was more than temporary. Eira had carved her place here with nothing but blood, defiance, and silence,and now she was going to take everything.
The moment she disappeared inside, I turned. I walked,no... marched,to my quarters and threw open the old drawer I hadn't touched in days.
