Chapter 15 - Checkmate, Baby.

The next day at the mall…

Hannah found herself in the hall with Tiana, who looked quite happy about her so-called date.

"I thought you said no premarital relationship?"

Hannah teased, fixing her nose mask.

"Yeah, I wouldn't call… it… that."

Tiana stammered, looking away.

"Just a token of appreciation, you know."

"Sure, I'm just waiting for the day the token turns wild!"

Hannah teased, looking at the embarrassed Tiana.

"Whatever,"

She muttered, entering the clothing store.

"Oh look at this white and black pair,"

Tiana pointed, looking quite taken back.

"Nice try… but are you sure it's just a token of appreciation?"

Hannah teased beside her ear.

"Besides, with the mixed signals from what you've shared about him… this won't help your no premarital affairs case very well."

"You're having too much fun."

She masked her flustered look with a barely serious expression.

Just then, their eyes caught someone familiar.

"Hannah, is that Evan?!"

Tiana said, looking at Evan with another girl in his arms.

Hannah didn't even bother looking as she coldly said,

"Yes, and that's because we broke up."

"Whattt!!!"

Tiana thought in shock.

"Tell me, was it his fault? Did he cheat on you or what?!"

Tiana began the interrogation.

"Not really, he just doesn't feel the spark anymore."

Hannah picked up a piece of clothing that caught her eye.

"Excuse me?!"

The phrase 'doesn't feel the spark' made Tiana go ballistic.

Before Hannah knew it, Tiana was already standing in front of Evan and his new girlfriend.

"Mister 'not feeling the spark anymore!'"

"How does it feel using someone's daughter and casually moving on to your next victim?"

Tiana scolded as she crossed her arms.

"Who is she?"

Jane asked coldly, glancing at Tiana.

"I don't know, perhaps she must've mistaken me for someone else,"

Evan answered.

But to his shock, it was Hannah in disguise, glaring at him.

"Should've known,"

Evan thought.

"Oh really? Playing dumb now, huh?" Tiana smiled forcefully.

"Don't blame you though. If I were Hannah, I wouldn't have given you a second thought to begin with."

She turned around, tossing a glance over her shoulder.

"And by the way, miss girlfriend—that color doesn't look good on you."

That sting hit Jane hard. A few heads turned. She looked ready to claw her way through the embarrassment.

"Oh really?" Jane hissed, stepping forward. "Wanna see what I can pull off, Mia Fashion Designer?"

Tiana raised an eyebrow, already pulling a jacket from the rack with a smirk. "Bring it, sweetheart."

Hannah, still watching silently, locked eyes with Evan. Cold. Final. No words necessary.

But now?

It wasn't about Evan anymore.

It was a full-on fashion showdown.

"Oh, what's this, Tiana?" Hannah whispered, amused.

Tiana winked. "Here. Take my picture while you're at it."

Then it began.

Tiana stepped out in a full scarlet gown, hugging every curve, paired with sheer lace red gloves. Her curls framed her face like fire—and the gasps around the boutique were instant.

"Who is she?"

"Do you see those gloves?"

Phones were out. Cameras flashing.

Jane gritted her teeth, staring at the growing attention Tiana was soaking in like royalty. A staff member whispered, "Do we have more of that red set?"

Tiana didn't stop there.

She returned moments later in a dark blue, knee-length gown, matching her skin and hair so perfectly it felt like it was made for her.

"That's absolutely stunning," Hannah muttered, phone in hand. "Tia, it's in sync with your aura."

"Keep it coming," Tiana thought proudly, glancing at Jane. "I'm going to make you eat dust, you boyfriend-stealing peacock."

Then came the killer.

Tiana walked out in high-waisted black pants that fit like a dream, a white top tucked in, cinched with a designer waist belt. A long coat draped over her shoulder like a cape. No words—just steps, posture, and attitude.

Even passersby outside the store stopped to stare through the window.

Jane couldn't compete. Her eyes darted, her lips tight.

Tiana caught her stare and gave a sweet, devastating smile.

"Oh—by the way, that outfit you're wearing?" she said, tilting her head innocently. "That's from our company. H&T."

Jane's eyes widened.

"Thanks for supporting us."

Tiana winked, flipping her coat as she turned.

"Checkmate, baby!"

"I see…"

Jane began, walking slowly toward Tiana, heels clicking like tension building.

A few customers were already asking the staff if they had exactly what Tiana just wore. Jane's smile was tight, but her eyes lingered too long on the black coat set.

"I'm sure you can afford all this, right?" Jane said, arms crossed. "After all, you work for a six-figure company."

Tiana didn't flinch.

"Did I say I couldn't?"

Her tone was calm—but her thoughts? Screaming.

'Girl, I am broke as dust. Bills devoured my paycheck like hungry wolves.'

Then came Hannah.

Confident. Unbothered. And ready to drop a bomb.

She stepped forward and casually slapped her card down on the counter.

"Put it all on me," she said with a bright smile. "Tia, pick whatever you like. And you too, sweetheart—"

She turned to Jane. "If you see anything that fits… I'll pay for you as well."

The staff blinked. Jane froze. And Tiana?

She could've danced.

"Go, Hannah!"

Tiana screamed inwardly, holding in her proud big-sister energy.

Then her gaze landed on Evan—watching the whole thing in awkward silence behind Jane. Her eyes narrowed as she muttered just loud enough for him to hear:

"Loser."

Jane's eyes widened as Hannah removed her face mask.

"Wait a second… are you that model—Hannah?"

Before Hannah could speak, Tiana jumped in, waving it off casually.

"She gets that a lot. Just a lookalike, nothing more."

"Can't believe I just used Lux's lame excuse."

Tiana mentally slapped herself. "Cornball behavior, Tiana."

"I see…" Jane said slowly, eyes still fixed on Hannah.

"Well, in that case—I don't mind her paying for me at all."
