Fast-forward to Linnea's birthday.
My eyes shone with happiness as I stared at the 'red pass.' This colored piece of paper will allow a smooth exit from the pack. I stole it from Beta Benjamin's office after everyone went to bed last night. But before I use this stolen pass, I'll first visit the Alpha's office. If the Alpha doesn't grant my request—if he refuses to let me leave the pack—then I'll have no choice but to use the pass I stole from Beta Benjamin's office. I'm fully prepared. I've been preparing for this my whole life; I won't let anyone ruin my happiness. Not the Alpha. Not Madison. Not the Beta. No one will ruin my plans. I'll make a successful exit from this pack, and I'll be in the city by morning.
With a suppressed laugh, I opened a page in my book and kept the pass inside before closing it. I guess being the Beta's stepdaughter has its benefits. I was able to steal the pass without much stress.
I will leave this house after Madison leaves for her event; she is preparing for an event and is quite busy. She has her professional makeup artist and stylist, and they're helping her. I'm glad I'm not working or assisting her with her dress.
I don't think anyone realizes that today is my birthday. Madison doesn't know, or maybe she forgot. My mother also seems to have forgotten, which is great! I'm going to leave her a letter before I leave. I hope she doesn't search for me. I doubt she will, but just in case, I'll write in my letter, letting her know not to search for me. I don't wish to come back to this hellhole.
My bags are ready, and my money and the jewelry I stole from Madison are also here. Since she often accuses me of stealing from her, I thought I might as well make her wish come true. I want her to become very mad when she returns to the house and realizes what I have done.
After looking at my bags, I walked out of my room and stood in front of my door.
When is Madison leaving? I want her gone. I'm anxious; I want to leave.
"Hey, Ms. Madison wants you in her room," I was still waiting for positive news when a maid walked up and informed me.
"Okay." I immediately walked to Madison's room.
She's ready to leave.
"Hey, make sure my room is neat, tidy up, clean the walls, brush the floor, everywhere," she instructed as she hurried to the door.
"Yes, I will," I politely responded. I can't let her become suspicious; I need to maintain this facade until I leave.
But she rolled her eyes at me. "You're acting suspicious," she frowned. "What's wrong with you?"
"Huh, huh?" I looked up at her, surprised.
"You're acting differently than you used to," she said, standing akimbo. "You're acting more polite," she noticed.
"What... am I?" I blinked, my heart racing. I hope she hasn't caught on. Madison is too smart for her own good. I hate her so much.
"Well," she unfolded her arms and stared at me, "I guess you've learned your lessons." She smirked and finally walked out of the room with her stylist.
A sigh escaped my lips, and I collapsed onto the sofa behind me as soon as she left. I was scared for a minute there. I'm glad she's gone now.
I'll return to my room and wait until she's out of the vicinity; once she leaves, I'll sneak out with my bags.
But as I tried to leave the room, I came face-to-face with Madison's angry face.
What...? She's still here?
"Where are you going to?" She groaned, throwing the door open.
"No... nowhere," I stuttered, surprised and startled by her appearance. I hope she hasn't caught on. I sincerely wish to leave the house today.
"Why aren't you working? Or are you trying to dump the job on a maid?" She groaned, still glaring at me.
"No, of course not," I murmured, keeping my head down. "I'm not."
"Good," she murmured and walked into the room. She grabbed a purse that she had left on her bed. "I forgot my bag," she muttered before walking out again.
Oh, the bag. Thank goodness.
After she left, I waited in her room for three minutes before exiting. After I was sure that she was gone, I grabbed my bags and snuck out of the house then went straight to the Alpha's house.
I arrived at the pack house and met one of his men at the entrance of his office.
"I'm here to see the Alpha," I informed the man.
"Does he know that you're coming?" he asked.
"Yes, tell him it's Linnea, Beta Benjamin's stepdaughter," I responded.
"Okay, wait a minute." The man went inside and returned shortly after.
"He is busy; he can't see you now. You should come back in an hour or two," he said.
"An hour or two? Can't I see him now? It's very urgent, please," I desperately pleaded.
The man must have seen my desperation because he agreed to my request and returned to the Alpha's office; he came to me again.
"You need to wait at least twenty minutes," he informed me.
"Okay, that's better, thank you."
I sat on one of the visitor's chairs outside, and once twenty minutes were up, I rose to my feet again. "Can I see him now?"
The man returned to the Alpha's office but came out seconds later, saying, "The Alpha is still busy; you should wait for another thirty minutes."
After waiting for thirty minutes, I asked to see the Alpha but got the same excuse.
It's as Madison said; I don't think the Alpha wants to see me. Beta Benjamin must have truly spoken to him. Well, I'm glad I stole the pass. I'll leave the pack with the stolen pass.
"Okay, I'll return tomorrow then," I said, turning to leave.
"You should," the man nodded and silently watched me go. After leaving the packhouse, I stood on the street to await a taxi. And it didn't take long before one pulled up in front of me.
I was about to speak to the driver when the back door suddenly opened and someone I least expected to see came out of the taxi.
Celeb.
"I knew I'd find you here." He immediately collected my bags.
"Let's go, I'll take you to the border," he proposed, but I snatched my bag from him and slapped him across his face.
After betraying me and making things difficult for me, he dares to show up in front of me.
What? He'll take me to the border. What bullshit?! I don't need a betrayer's help.
I was about to walk away when he unexpectedly stopped me. He took the bags from me and held them. I was in the process of trying to get them back when another man I least expected to see showed up again.
Another vile man. One I'd rather not see until the day I draw my last breath. He showed up and unexpectedly ruined my entire plan. He seized my bags and kept them in his car, then he refused to let me go. .
